@@lovesgucci1it was great but this grandslam changed the whole series and made history. There have been a few walk offs to end the whole world series so it's not rare
I grew up in LA and was a tiny child when Kirk Gibson hobbled to the plate and blasted the homer. And I'm back in LA again after a life of living around the world, and I get to see Freeman hobble to the plate and blast another game ending homer. Things like that keep me connected to my city for my whole life.
Great call by Joe Davis "SHE IS GONE!!!" just like Vin Scully did for Kirk Gibson's walk-off home run in Game 1 of the 1988 World Series. "GIBBY MEET FREDDY!!!"
Joe was aggravating for a lot of WS but I get he has to be more neutral in these national broadcasts, so did Vin. But he nailed this one to the wall. :)
Even Dodgers fans were worried about Freddie, he was like Job from the Bible this season with injuries and almost losing little Max. He was such a freaking WARRIOR!! Everyone came through and I truly believe it is the deeply supportive, loyal and positive culture of both the team and the fans that let all of our players come through and meet every moment. And world class Level 10 coaching by Doc!! I hope this shuts the Fire Roberts idiots up FOREVER ❤❤❤
LAD pitching great Valenzuela died a couple of days before game on at the age of 63 and final score of game 1 was 6 - 3. There were also similarities between Freeman's walk off slam and Gibson's walk off game winning homer in the first game of the '88 world series.
I enjoyed this thoroughly! (But I'm a Dodgers fan, so I would) 😅 I like how you both give insightful commentary without inane overemotional and boneheaded statement of the obvious. I look forward to checking out your other videos.
Part of what made this so amazing is that this almost mirrored a similar outcome in the World Series in 1988. Kirk Gibson was injured but came up to bat and famously hit a walk off 2 run home run to win game 1 of the world series. In fact, it was hit almost at the exact time too, + or - 1 minute.
History tends to rhyme rather than repeat. Here's another way: In 1988, Jose Canseco smashed a grand slam to take the lead, and Kirk Gibson smashed a walk-off 2-run homer to win the game. In 2024, Giancarlo Stanton smashed a 2-run homer to take the lead, and Freddie Freeman smashed a walk-off grand slam to win the game.
It didn’t look like anyone came to eject him. It looked like he was telling his son, “hey, we need to get out of here now.” because he knew he fucked up.
It wouldnt have been a homer, though. The fan reached way over and you could see if he hadnt it would have hit the wall, not gone over. The announcer just got a little too excited.
14:10 yes, and fan who interferes is removed from the stadium for the rest of the game, but torres would have only gotten a double anyways. The fan was fully stretched over the wall and caught it in line with the top of the wall. Wouldn't have gone out if the fan didn't catch it
You two should take a look at Kirk Gibson's 1988 walkoff home run. Like Gibson, Freeman had an injury, he twisted his ankle in a playoff game and he recovered well enough at this point to run his way to a triple. But both of Gibson's legs were injured, and he was sent in at the bottom of the 9th inning against ace closer Dennis Eckersley.
I love football, your guys' football :), just as much as anything and love when a stadium explodes with a goal especially a long range worldy, but nothing, to me, NOTHING beats the roar from a home team crowd for a playoff NO DOUBT homer!!!
The FOOL that got this grand slam ball (a Yankees fan), threw it back onto the field, costing himself a potential $100,000 DOLLARS for that ball at auction.
I’ve seen two great walkoff home runs by the Dodgers in my lifetime, Kirk Gibson’s walk off 2 run home run off of Dennis Eckersley in 88 and now Freddie and his walk off slam

The best part is Freddie pimping the absolute shit out of that GS, and the way he was screaming and flexing all around the bases. He is usually so much more reserved and respectful to opposing players. Like Billy Riddoch says in Trainspotting "It does a man good to cut loose once in a while."
It’s only fan interference if the fan reaches over the wall to catch the ball, which that fan clearly did. The ball was going to be short of a home run anyway and hit off the wall, which usually results in a double. Which is why a double was the result after the interference.
The reason Freddie got the World Series MVP award was because the Yankees made an error in their analytics and threw him pitches he could actually hit deep. And he hit a lot of them. Guy couldn't miss. That's Five Nights (of World Series Baseball) with Freddie. Absolute cinema..
