Mover,
As a JTAC in the Air Force, and one who is in the process of transitioning to become a pilot, I greatly appreciate getting to see this from your perspective. Maybe, if your fans would be interested, we can do a video on what's going on from the JTAC perspective, or even run a simulated CAS mission for them. Also, if you ever want to come along with some JTACs on training missions, that can be arranged as well. Let me know if you are interested. Love your content, keep up the great work.
Alpha Victor, get Mover in on a JTAC ridealong. Would be amazing!!!
Please do it. That would be great to see.
That would be sweet!
Where are you/were you at? I was at the 13th ASOS 09-18.
Great work Mover.
How’s that going for you?
@09:57 "check for animals..." became an SOP after Mover got his call sign. 😁 And that visual @11:11 was fantastic. Thanks
There are no greater missions than CAS and SEAD (keeping others alive). There’s nothing better than an employment where our guys are in trouble where you can clearly hear the sigh of relief from the JTAC after weapon impact. CAS is all about keeping our guys alive, it’s the Lord’s work.
what about the helis that go out and rescue ejected pilots
@@evanf111og those guys are heros too
@@KRGruner what's wrong with saving people's lives? there's not much better to do than saving an 18 year old who just left high school from being shot by terrorists.

Mover, loved the video! I just want to let you know how much just a show of force or presence can work and how on many occasions, especially, in Afghanistan, that as soon as the JTAC got you guys on station, the stress level amongst us went down and the enemy's stress level increased significantly! There were many times when we were taking heavy fire out on patrol and as soon as the TIC started our JTAC would make a call and within 15 minutes we had Angel's over head. Sometimes just your presence would stop the fight, other times it would take more but just know it was always much appreciated!
Don’t tell Karl Gruner, he hates this shit
@@j0esmith 😂 I was thinking the same thing as I read Doc's comment
@@j0esmith what are you talking about??
@@On-Our-Radar-24News theres a guy ranting about cas and making a fool of himself in one Deuce’s replies
@@agoodchristianpilot159 Oh ok.
In 2004, I had a daisy chain IED strike on a convoy that was in front of me. Came up to them and after checking on all down vehicles, requested a show of force from air and it was GLORIOUS! They made 3 passes while we medevac several personnel and stayed with us for 30 min. Had the chance to thank the pilots at the end of our tour for watching our backs.
Cool video Mover. I was a Marine radio operator in the infantry in 2005. In Najaf Iraq, we had Forward Air Controllers or FAC’s assigned to us. These were aviators assigned to the grunts that controlled our CAS. Our FAC’s were good dudes who regularly made the bad guys lives hell.
I was working at Camp Shelby about 5 years ago doing forestry clearing while the F18’s were doing practice bomb runs and let me tell you that “show of force” afterwards really impressed me. LOW and LOUD is an understatement. Made my day. The wife got tired of hearing about it. Thank you for your service!
Maybe it's just me as a former Navy guy. I can never get enough of hearing some real com chatter. Love it! Thanks Mover.
You definitely flew near or over my house on that flight. Don't live to far from the Fort Polk range. We see the fighters often and have our windows shake from the live rounds at the range. Always love hear the fighters while at school or home
Writing down the 9 line info would be one of the few times I'd be glad I write left handed ;)
Haha i thought the same 😂
Yup. I saw that. Unfortunately, I'm right handed.
@@randallmacdonald4851 me too but I'm not a fighter pilot either.
@@randallmacdonald4851 lol “unfortunately I’m right handed”. So if the government calls and asks old Randall to hop in the cockpit of an F/A-18, he will be slightly inconvenienced. All of the millions of other things that we deal with in life that are specifically tailored to righties isn’t an problem. But IF you were a fighter pilot, it would be SUPER inconvenient.
Just passed my ASTB on the first go! Excited to become a pilot in the Marines, I really appreciate your content!
We used to joke that you guys were just "infantrymen of the sky" in Afghanistan. We could always tell that the pilots loved CAS, however I only experienced Air Force pilots. I appreciate this video, it's cool to see what was happening on the other side.
And here I am where my 'Day at the Range' is limited to Bolt-action centrefires and plinking with 22s.
Great content as always.
Mover, thank you for doing this channel. Love your content. It's very entertaining and informative and those are the best kinds. Went online and bought your book.

Hi C.W, you inspired me to join the Air Force. And without you I would not have been flying a F-16, so God bless you :D
Best CAS video I've seen to talk about the voodoo magic that happenes between the TACP and the pilot!
"To make sure there's no people, no animals..."
How'd you get your callsign again Mover?
I was part of a load crew loading bombs on F4’s at Ubon , Thailand, and RAF Bentwaters /Woodbridge in England. Watching the video brought back a lot of memories. Thanks.
he shot up a bunch of cows with live cannon fire at night.. "cow=mover" moving target..
Just started reading the first book in the spectre series I’m not a huge reader at all with my A.D.D i find it hard to keep reading for more than 10 minutes maximum. I just read for 3.5 hours non-stop it’s a damn good book the prologue is amazing it sets the tone for the whole book. If anyone is debating on spending the 2$ Canadian or whatever cheap price it was stop debating and get it. Definitely worth it and if I can read it you can too. Love it and I’m super excited to read them all thanks for writing them! They are great!
One of my favourite videos from you to date. Love that you went into more procedural and technical details. The more the better! Thanks for this!
I heard a "boom!", did your JTAC strategically cover the "suck it" with a "1-1 Good Hit!" ?
I enjoyed your LIVE bomb dropping video!! I'm always a huge fan of the real flight videos!! Thanks again to you and the skipper that cleared the video, guys rock!!!
Ah this is so cool, Mover! My squad in DCS is roleplaying this quite often in our flyouts, based on a Joint Publications CAS Brief out there, and while there are cool comms examples in there, your video sure will help flesh out the comms as well! Much appreciated! :)
Yeah Mover, Starting the year off with a BOOOOM nice vid bud, thanks for the great vids. Looking forward to whatever you got for us it's all good all the time. Stay safe man
This was so cool to see how it’s done in real life and what relates to dcs currently for the hornet. I loved it. Great video!
I once had a chat with a group of FO's that were attached to us talking about JTAC quals and how hard it is. Was pretty cool to get an insight from the guys training for the job. They were going through CAS 9 liners and whole mock situations explaining the whole process. One of the best memories of being in the field
I loved this video. It's a privilege, as a civilian, to get to see a fighter pilot's training mission.
That was cool to watch especially the scenes in the cockpit with the smoke plumes from the bombs in the background. What was also neat was the scene with the F-18s parked near the grass. The combination of the red air aggressor paint jobs and the weeds growing through the concrete made it look like photos of Russian jets at their airfields.
Shame they didn’t load 4 Mk-82 500lb bombs on multiple ejector racks instead of just 2 Mk-83s.
I have a hard time writing down a phone number or a zip code without someone having to repeat it. How you do that stuff on your leg no less, is beyond me. Oh, and I would run out of ink too. Great video.
Air Force loading live bombs: we need to park in remote area of base far from any danger
Navy loading live bombs: we park on top of fuel and ammunition storage next to 2 nuclear reactors running on highly enriched uranium
Cool stuff! Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to hear some A10 stories. They fly those in my backyard.
My first Live CAS control was with the F-18. 2 x mk83s. Prior TACP
This is SO cool to see! Truly BADASS!
Hi Mover,
Thats was a awesome video👌👌, the hand signals are so cool. Maybe a video of you explaining them would be nice. Keep it up. Greetings from Belguim.
Interesting. Seems tight and slick. You yanks have clearly got it down to a fine art.
Yeah, and on the boat, the initial staging area for munitions was right next to my feet while eating breakfast. No kidding, when we were gearing up for a Southern Watch strike, I sat down next to a MK-84 and put my hands on it while eating corn flakes. (CV-63). Also have a story about GSE fix so Intruders could swap out their '84's for HARMS to take out SAMs. But that one costs a beer. :)
Re ‘Master Arm On’ in USAF late 1990s we had a guy taking off to the south at Luke AFB, F-16 w/ a bunch of BDU-33s headed for BMGR range. He took off, gear up, flaps up & then He flipped master arm on. Everything fell off the jet & landed on the fairway (5th hole iirc) of the golf course below. No injuries but there were golfers playing at the time. We then put in rule that master arm is now going to be turned on once you are over the range.
Could watch videos like this all day! 🤙
I believe the Hornet was designed in the 70s, so does that mean it has lots of ash trays in it?
Literally the best channel on UA-cam.
Was in army stas tioned at guantanamo bay in 92 93 during operation gitmo .a hatian huma nitarian effort . Watched the jets every das y doing bomb runs and seeing the bomb leave the jet and jet pull up was amazing as gitmo is a small base do they had little room to come in and pull out but the best thing on that deployment was chasing iguanas and watching these rock stars blow shit up. Mad respect to all who have the " PRIVELEDGE" of doing this for their country and as a job . They all are rock stars to me .
Hi, I have always thought, it would be good if you could explain all the hand signals, that you receive from the ground crew. plus the signals you send with your hands. I understand it all has to be mainly hand signals, are the all the same when your on the boat too? could you explain what is going on with signals to pilots there too, should make an interesting video and make more sense of what we are watching with all those aircraft carrier video's that are on YT to watch. Hope you see this !!!
I don't think anyone has ever made a video explanation like this before showing the raw nuts and bolts of the pilot's perspective in delivering A2G ordnance.
I really wish I'd have taken the opportunity to fly in the military like this when I was younger. Cool video.
Love the video Mover, great information and in my favorite fighter! Love seeing the F-18 on the channel again!
Having worked at Fort Polk on the ground as a role player I observed the wheel and the strafe runs. Also one can testify to the low level runs over a particular area.
I absolutely enjoyed every single minute of the video. I really learned a lot which is exciting. You are very motivating, inspiring, encouraging, awesome without a doubt, and most definitely if not the best one of the absolute best pilots/ fighter pilots I've gotten to watch and hopefully meet sometime.

One time at MCAS Miramar airshow, between the day show and the night show, four F/A-18s flew a right-hand rectangular (or oval) pattern where their attack run was aligned with rwys 24. Some couple miles east they would drop down to low level (like under 500'?) and then pop up near the runway, roll about 135 degrees, pull the nose to the "target", roll wings level and then pull off target (after presumably releasing whatever simulated weapons). On the climb out, they would roll and pull in an unpredictable sequence until a mile or so west and then climb back into the pattern. Sometimes rolling left 270 degrees in order to depart right. It was such that as you're watching one do his "jinking" climbout, the next was already in the pop-up for the next attack...and so on. It was right about sunset so you could see the afterburners on the climbout. Lots of noise...continuous noise for about 15 minutes. That was a better show than watching the Blue Angels! :)
The only show that was better was at NWC China Lake in about 1981, where the airshow crowd got to watch A-4s, A-6s and A-7's drop live Mk-82s, Mk-83s, Mk-84s and fire Zuni rockets, from a dive run started up around 12 to 15,000' MSL I'd guess. Booom! ....is right! The impact point was probably 2 or more miles away, but it still felt like it shook the ground. You could see a small puff of smoke from the rack when each bomb released. The A-7E also made a straifing run with the M61 Vulcan, which sounded like a belch from a 100-foot-tall giant or a ripping sound of the giant's jeans. :) I didn't see any tracers. Apparently, someone (maybe some retired admiral) complained to Congress or somewhere about it being a waste of taxpayer money...and that was the end of that.
My last job before I left the Marines. That was a few years ago ('79) out at 29 Palms.
Starting the new year with a bang! 👍
Pretty cool stuff, Mover! I can hardly wait until everything you blurred out is finally declassified and makes its way to DCS!
As a somewhat casual nerd, it was interesting to see... well, not *real* real mil. airforce operations, but enough to get a better sense of what goes into arriving on station, with moving targets, and making things go boom.
(And making contrails.)
Happy New Year Mover!!! I just watched the first Monday's with Mover in 2021, absolutely amazing, awesome!!! Let's keep it going & please for you & all of your squad & Leo's, please be safe out there!!! 😃👋
Enjoyed it as always Mover. Thanks for sharing this window to your world.
Great vid as always......Looking forward to the Phantom interview....Love the F-4.....
The talk of live bombs reminded me of this time at Davis Monthan, in the 1990s, when a they were flying the A-10s with four Mk 82s and 600 rounds of ammo. One of the pilots stole the jet and crashed in CO.
If you're bad at dogfighting, the life lost is your own. If you're bad at CAS, the life lost is someone's son, daughter, husband, wife, mother or father. I cannot imagine a job it is more important to be perfect at in the military. It always pisses me off when people protest or complain about live ranges stateside. The bombs aren't being dropped because a fighter jock was bored that day, they're being dropped so the fighter jock can save someone's life some day.
Very nice video. Thanks for bringing us some more great content!
How do I go about ordering one of those "Show of Force" passes?
I could provide GPS coordinates for our camp in the dunes north of El Centro and a time window. It would be great to be the only person in camp that knew it was coming. 😁
We've been buzzed many times out there but we never know it's coming until it's way too late to run. I guess that's the idea.
Never clicked on anything so fast!
Excellent video sir, keep up the good work.
Never got the option to do cas with actually fixed wing. But did get to call in some cobra gunship for gun runs
I appreciate the time you took. To inform us Nerds
Really interesting, thanks for that! I work at a bomb factory, we make Mk82/83/84, and a few other aircraft bombs (we make the warheads themselves, not fuzes or guidance kits) so I know a bit about how they're made, but that was different to see a Mk83 from the pilot's perspective.
Hello Dear CiWi Lemoine. Happy New Year.
'so poor we have to believe that we don't live in a very cool world if it's to deliver weapons and drop bombs on heads ! That said this video is an impressive CRM-retex point of view. Thank you for sharing - from MMP deliverzzz ;)
Friendly grid must be something new, I never gave my location except when controlling an AC-130.
I'd guess those nasty blue on blues in Iraq and Afghanistan has something to do with it. However it does sound kinda crazy to tell your location over radio freqs, so it definitely has to be situational thing.

Show of force maneuvers look Like so much fun. Those wings fluttering up and down at that speed doesn't look fun though! Its wild seeing wings do that at that angle. I'm sure they can flex much more than that. Keep making videos Mover!
Neat. Thanks for sharing. Hot drops give it a real feel to the mission.
Great vid, Happy New Year and thanks for continuing to share your amazing adventures. 😁👍
Why coordinate dropping is dangerous. My dad is a flight nurse during Iraqi Freedom. In Djibouti, there is a live bomb range down a valley that B-52s would use. Some marines decided to go out and stand on the rim of valley. The B-52 would fly down coast the do a 90 degree turn to go up valley reach coordinate and drop. Well the bomber had not completed his 90 degree turn, the bombardier reached his coordinate and pushed the release button. Bomber dropped the ordinance on the marines. My dad flew down to take them home.

Hey CW another great video. Two quick questions. I have read all your books and wonder if there is something in the pipeline? How is Lester's recovery coming along? Thanks.
Thanks for another great vid, Mover!
From the ground, a show of force is beyond appreciated and beyond loud. Inferior dental fillings will not survive the event.
On a combat mission would you be breaking the sound barrier on a show of force pass? Or just fast sub sonic?
Happy New Year mover , from UK 🇬🇧
Do Navy pilots have their own JTAC’s or are all JTAC’s Air Force, imbedded with the various services?
Navy has ANGLICOs, but the vast majority of CAS is controlled by an AF JTAC (TACP/CCT).
Excellent video, thank you for sharing!
One question and one suggestion. Question- Can an F-18 use a MER? It looks like the pylon can take a TER. Suggestion- When discussing GP MK82's, adding the difference between a conical fin versus a snake eye might be interesting for those who don't know. This is from an old AO, so we didn't have F-18's. Just A-6, A-7's and F-4's
F18 can carry MER's
Please make a video on various hand signals which are used by fighter pilots.
Please!

Hello, I,ve been watching your videos for some time and i’m a huge fan of aviation. The reason I comment is that my father was also a fighter pilot for the Honduras Air Force (1974-2004) and I was wondering if you know any model makers since I want his favorite aircraft so I could give it to him since he has several fond memories.
