This is the first talk in the series. This talk gives us a brief background to the epic. Then it gives us an overview of the first two Cantos of the Book One. In these two cantos Sri Aurobindo reveals to us the deeper symbol that this story represents and the real issue of human life.

I have been to Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Puducherry. I went there with Sri Chhote Narain ji. It was a journey by bus from Banglore to Puducherry. I can never forget my company with him. He introduced me to Sri Aurobindo. I am a great admirer of Sri Aurobindo's Yoga of transformation. I have read Life Divine, Synthesis of Yoga, Essays on the Gita. I am devotedly trying to understand his masterpiece Savitri. Savitri is indescribably profound and mysterious. Nobody can fathom the depths of Sri Aurobindo's consciousness.
Thank you for sharing Savitri in Hindi
Sir sometimes I think how one can have such intuitive genius as you do have.So much of clarity ! Your real genius lies in making the abstract and difficult text understandable. Simply extraordinary. Hats off.

What is remedi of sorrow as per Thakur.
Sorrow (and happiness) is the response that the ego-self gives to the various events and circumstances based on whether they frustrate (or fulfil) our desires. The ego-self and the desires are however ignorant of what indeed is good for our growth and progress. A lot of sorrow will be removed and even replaced if we understand that the goal of life is not being happy or the fulfilment of desires but to progress. Progress brings happiness whereas concentration upon oneself and one's desires brings sorrow.
Another kind of sorrow comes due to attachment to things that are by their nature transient and do not last. We take them to be forever and permanent and take ourselves as their owner and possessors rather than trustee and custodian. As long as we dwell in ignorance, unaware of the true Self, of the soul within and the true purpose of life, sorrow will pursue us in one way or the other. Until we can arrive at this state of freedom from ignorance it is helpful to take this philosophical attitude that there is nothing permanent in the world except the Divine. To this attitude we can add the aspiration to know the Divine, to grow one with His being and consciousness then slowly and steadily we begin to come out of this proclivity to sorrow and suffering. We are no more attached to the outer form but connect with the spirit of things. Attachment is replaced by true love which by its very nature brings joy.
