    I am a tile contractor and just installed these on my 2021 Ram 1500. I haul a dual axle 12 foot enclosed trailer daily and it is heavy- it is often REALLY heavy with a 1400 pound pallet of tile thrown in for good measure. These things work great. I keep about 55lbs of air in mine and the rear end stays at stock empty height- no sag. I highly recommend. Super easy install with only removing the tires.

      Cant you just drive these around town without a trailer?

      @@Sip28 I leave my bags Iinflated to about 55 lbs at all times... Doesn't affect the ride at all

      Look for videos of airbags with wheel scales. The bags lift the truck above the axle but they don't improve weight distribution so your front end might be too light.

    • @artsmith103
      @artsmith103 3 роки тому

      @@fpino1977 $100. For sale at many of the typical online places. You have to match Air Lift model to your vehicle. They do not solve load distribution problems. Just level vehicle above the frame.

      Exactly my thoughts. A "helper spring" or air bag doesn't increase the capacity of other parts on the suspension. Neither does it add anything to the brakes. What's the payload capacity of a Ram 1500 crew cab short box?..... maybe 1900#? What's the weight of passengers, gear, and that trailer at the hitch this guy is hauling?..... almost certainly far beyond 1900#.
      Vehicle manufacturers have payload and towing capacity ratings for a reason. Going over those limits slightly might not be a big deal, but how many people blow through those limits (150%+) every day..... while I'm subject to great scrutiny in my 80K# big truck? Smdh....

    I would look into a good weight distribution hitch if I were you, I have a 16 silverado 1500 with a equalizer e3 hitch, helps alot. But I still was sagging pretty bad, so I got the load lifter 5000 from air lift, now I'm good as gold

    Does it increase the axle weight also?
    Like would the airbags make the axle itself handle more weight?

    • @MrChucknorrisaurus
      @MrChucknorrisaurus 2 роки тому

      Yes it does. Airbags in the rear when inflated shift weight from the front trailer axle to the rear tow vehicle axle. And if you weighed it you would see the front tow vehicle axle actually has less weight on it too compared to no airbags. For super heavy tongue weight, it's better to get a weight distribution hitch, but smaller stuff airbags are fine.

    do you have the 391 or whatever it is or the 321 rear end? ive got the 321 rear end and an 8700 lb camper which is exactly what its rated to pull. my question you said you pulled it all over was that without the airbags and if so, how well did the airbags work and did you still use the weight distribution hitch? im also thinking about getting the hellwig sway control for under my truck to replace the 1 inch factory instauled one. id really like to pick your brain because im thinking seriously about either sinking some money into a new smaller camper and using my 37 footer at my lake lot or spending a couple grand and beefing up the rear end of my 1500 hemi. thanks for any information on how yours pulls or what to look out for or if youd do it again. btw, nice rig ya got there.

      you really only use air bags if you are towing or carrying a heavy load in the bed. If you are running around town with no weight on the truck, you simply let the air out so there's only about 5 psi in them. At that level there's no detriment to ride quality.

      Omg! You have 3.92 gears then? I’m getting a toy hauler at 5700 dry and freaking out a lil. I was told my 14 ram was 10k towing but after looking it’s 7600. I’ll have dist hitch/bars and sway bar and have these. I’ll be curious how it sits.

    They don’t like the cold. Mine cracked when it hit -15 C. I opted for firestone air bags instead.
