Katakuri's weakness is characters who are far faster than he is, anyone whos far faster can hand Katakuri's own ass to him. If they're not faster Katakuri's gonna body them (even if it'll take 12 hours). Problem is that speed got power cliffed as well in Wano.

Katakuri stab himself to be closer to luffy to be even he saw it as unfair that flampe helped kat to hit luffy. When a character stab himself against his opponent that's handicap lmao kat would have done better if he didn't get stabbed. Kat didn't get knocked out he let luffy win because he couldn't break his spirit it was a tie. We literally see him eyes open talking to brulee. The powercliff isn't that much until luffy learned ryou,conquers.
the point is that him stabbing himself and still losing means his endurance is both ass and worse than luffy’s, because luffy took that same attack and many more before+after that, and still won😂

People need to realize that Luffy vs katakuri was about ideals and whoever had the strongest will wins. Katakuri wanted to loose because of the burden of being the perfect brother was to much. Luffy didn’t have that burden. It’s heavily implied that katakuri even wanted Luffy to beat big mom. It is a fight about respect why else would katakuri stab himself.

That was for the end, the whole fight was about will power so both combatants gave it there all till the end where katakuri lost motivation in even fighting anymore. Him losing the will to fight has nothing to do with katakuri beating luffy the whole fight and luffy beating him till the end

-All 3 types of haki, including advanced haki when your sweet prince Sanji has neither advanced haki and needed some asspull awakening to be considered a threat
-Was shown to be able to move as fast as Sanji in film red (film red showings are canon cope harder)
-considered to be the strongest out of the big mom pirates and we’ve seen characters part of the crew like Perospero manage in whole cake island (beating both sulong carrot and Wanda and took cat viper in sulong form to beat Perospero) so we can already chain scale him a lot higher than you wanna downplay him

I am not a big katakuri fan. But I must say, that inflicting damage oneself in fantasy is always much easier than than inflicting damage on others.
As somehow the defense of a person lowers if they allow being hit. This can be seen in anime and fantasy very commonly.
And, a stronger attack does not equal more damage. If you pierce through the target, it does not matter if you can use a stronger piercing attack than that. If you already penetrated them, then you inflicted the most amount of damage you could deal. You cannot penetrate something even more.
But yeah, katakuri was visibly more influenced by the wound he inflicted on himself than luffy was from the "same" wound.

I dont think you're supposed to count the individual barage panels. Their just supposed to be spamming an attack. And Katakuri hurting himself isnt an anti feat. Shanks got his arm eaten by a seaking when he let it happen. Luffy and zoro can be hurt by the fodder fodder model bellamy pirates when they let them. Katakuri intentionally stabbing himself could just be in line with stronger characters letting themselves get hurt. As shown when strong characters allow themselves to be hurt they can take damage from seemingly weak attacks. Shanks will fight blackbeard in the future and likely take some blows. Doesn't make seaking > blackbeard. This is also shown when blackbeard is hurt by pre timeskip luffy.

In the story of One piece when characters let themselves be hit, they take way more damage from way weaker attacks which is my entire point here. Like shanks getting his arm eaten by a seaking, he will more than likely have a big fight and take heavy damage from stronger characters in the future like blackbeard. This does not mean that seaking > blackbeard. When luffy who is a rubberman let himself get hit by the literal fodder belamy pirates he took damage. This same luffy could take hits from arlong and crocodile. So when strong characters let themselves be hit their durability is ignored.

Luffy never beat Katakuri and Katakuri wasn’t trying to beat or kill Luffy either that’s the whole point of Katakuri stopping to use his deadly spear attacks, do you think he just randomly stopped using his mole? He respected Luffy and liked his character. The end of the fight Luffy was still weaker in terms of armament, obs, AP, DC, awakening, experience. Katakuri at his full power would’ve killed Luffy so many times.

when Katakuri attacked himself with mole he was purposefully damaging himself so he wasn't guarding with haki, so you can't use that to say his defense is bad. almost all people when not using haki to defend aren't very durable unless thay have a devil fruit that boosts durability or their naturally a monster like Kaido or Big Mom
I think the main part of katakuri’s loss was his mental state and luffy’s will being stronger (and a healthy dose of plot armor). Not saying luffy would have lost without it but it’s important to consider
Facts narrative in fights are important in one piece.
Look at the "damage"
Katakuri only took damage from his own attacks
His head smashing the ground made him bleed
His stomach getting stabbed made his bleed and bleed from the mouth
Luffy literally only scratched him
And katakuri's "blood" was a drop
Coming off his face
The final hit that katakuri knew was coming for his stomach (the place that has a hole it)
Yet choose to take it
Instead of opening a hole and smashing luffy
Lastly realize luffy is a mythical god Zoan
Even suppressed luffy has at least ancient zoan Lvl's of vitality/stamina regen (wich i remind you is fucking busted page one tanked a conquers coated fist from bigmom)

If you looked up the definition of "power" and "edged"
You can get a hint of what makes it a different kind of armament katakuri had and its interesting
Aramament haki is a Defensive function first
If its a strong enough shield it can be used to attack
"Power mochi" implies its turning to or adding a offensive layer
For more power maybe its stacking 2 shield on top of armament
"Edged mochi" Implies its turned from defensive to offence and it can pierce other armament (shields)
This is massive and could be useful
If this is accurate and oda goes this route its gonna be interesting
Because there is only 1 left for luffy to face and grow his haki

Bro it's strange to me that you never acknowledge the fact that Katakuri didn't actually lose. His body was fucking standing and ready to keep beating the fuck out of a completely weakened Luffy, but Kat chose to let him go when Luffy showed his absolute will power. Even if Luffy's will may have been greater in that moment it doesn't mean that Kat was weaker at all, if Kat wasn't a genuinely good guy and didn't respect Luffy, he would have crushed Luffy at the end with his remaining energy.
Or on the flip side, if the fight was the exact same but Luffy was like evil or some shi and said that he would kill Big Mom and all his siblings, Kat would have MURDERED Luffy.

I think a discussion about the number of hits doesn’t really illustrate the capabilities of the fighters. After all, luffy’s stamina and health regen is insane. In onigashima he was knocked out twice before literally dying. He then came back to life and clapped kaido’s cheeks. Luffy is just built different, his whole deal is that he bounces back from every fight like a rubber band.
Luffy's endurance (plot armor) is REALLY REALLY good for a skinny short 19 y/o. And don't even say he's made of rubber because that does NOT work against armament haki which is what most katakuri attacks were. Luffy vs Katakury is the worst plot armor win so far. If you disagree you're just wrong and stop glazing Oda he's not a god.

Katakuri can see into the future, so he doesnt NEED to take any hits, he can dodge or redirect, hence his inability to take many hits, Luffy has been getting his shit kicked in up and down the new world, so OF COURSE he can take a punch. a metric-shit-ton of people have said it but this was an endurance fight, and you build a lot of endurance/durability when you're getting hit by trucks on the daily.
So Don Kreig level ap can match everything Luffy threw before g4? And can it defeat Doffy?
Perospero who's leagues weaker than Kat could have beaten neko (who needed sulong form to win) and Inu could've lost to jack, so without sulong forms, perospero is on Jack's level
Then smoothie who's stronger than him before Kat
And in all your debates you use WCI Kat instead of current Kat
Kat didn't actually lose, he just realized he couldn't break Luffy's will and that Luffy's growth would eventually lead to him surpassing him(Kat) with haki blooms if the fight continued (haki blooms only happen when fighting someone stronger and are the best way to strengthen haki)
Sure Kat's endurance is kinda bad, but he was standing and could have fought much more than Luffy since Luffy would be hakiless for 10 minutes
I think it’s also important to remember that the beast pirates do have Zoan buffs on their defense and attack, which Katakuri does not have. That could help to explain why they were tougher opponents to deal with. Especially when the Tobi Roppo have ancient zoans. Katakuri has a fairly basic DF in comparison. Considering all that, I don’t think it’s unfair to assume that he probably relied on his haki way too much prior to this battle with Luffy. Which made him weak to someone like Luffy, who can use haki on his rubber body making him kind of a tank. And Kat’s fruit doesn’t work the same as Luffy’s, his awakening makes it appear as though it does, but he has to intentionally turn his body into mochi. Whereas Luffy is a rubber man. All in all, Katakuri is pretty much nothing without his haki and this fight really showcased that DF matchups definitely matter. Especially at this level of combat, where the combatants haki levels are relatively in the same ball park. Kat’s was better, but Luffy had the better DF also.
he has horrible durability and pretty bad endurance but great stamina. kat is at least way above jack and should at least be on the same level as queen via getting perospero on a higher level than cat viper without sulong form. inuarashi without his sulong was doing pretty god against jack and destroyed jack. inuarashi is comparable to cat viper. Perospero is way weaker than cracker and smoothie let alone katakuri. So even though katakuris endurance is kind of ass he is at least on queens level. Loses in a pretty interesting fight against king. He doesnt stop at ulti.
Also some people think base luffy surpassed g4 luffy multiple times in wano after training in udon prison because he got one shotted by a thunder bagua in g4 but then he did not on the roof. People are missing the part that the thunder bague on the rooftop only grazed luffy and barely hit him. g4 luffy litterly took the entire thunder bague while flying into it.
The Black Mamba thing is likely another case of the Anime being stronger than the Manga however it doesn't mean Fradakuri Anime matters as that means he just gets a power boost to still be irrelevant later and now people who are stronger in the Anime slightly likely can just beat him up if they get enough screen time to get a new technique or fight.

And when you consider his hax and raw AP through amping he can easily afford to not use haki as well) and when he runs out of stamina, now can fight in base with acoa,acoc and acoo if needed being able to go toe to toe with normal hybrid Kaido, which is already above sky splitting lvls of haki btw lol sorry admiral fans. with G4 being an option always as well with both boundman and snakeman. And if the situation calls for it, he can go g5 again for a final offensive before being completely gassed.
What Oda had him do was use g5 once against Lucci for both VP lore purposes about Nika to the rest of the crew as well as for his old rivalry with Lucci. Luffy, having absolutely no clue that someone as strong as Kizaru was approaching Egghead stealthily, did go g5 and was already showing signs of being gassed having run around for extended periods and through the boots as well and even went old man form for a bit if you remember. Being caught unaware of Kizaru's presence he went g5 eventually to protect VP and kept trying to bfr him throwing him into the ocean and not even attacking straight on. After going through the lasers (which conveniently is not as issue for Kizaru here heh) multiple times, and having held back for this long, he eventually had to get serious when Kizaru went for the kill at that moment. And we saw what happened as a result of that, with Luffy afterwards being completely gassed and not even able to move with Franky having to help him, JUST LIKE he was after the Kaido fight and he was falling through the air uncontrollably with Yamato having to catch him. Still maintaining the gap between the stronger/OG Yonko and the admirals, showing how even just g4 + base haki wasn't enough to take Kizaru down at all and he had to use adv haki in some form.
Just be grateful he didn't show Luffy using acoo to catch him off-guard and completely overwhelm him with a shower of acoc punches. Even current Fresh Luffy vs Fresh Kaido goes to Kaido and you'd know if you've seen the multiple ways Oda was holding Kaido back the last arc. Heck, get this...every damn time we see an emperor fighting on Screen, they're nerfed in one way or another. Old MF Deadbeard, Braindead WCI Bigmom, Kaido and Shanks knocking out his own crewmembers while trying to scare GB, and now Luffy having stamina issues and using G5 multiple times with no adv haki till the last moment. Like can you imagine an old dying admiral who can barely use haki being jumped by 3 prime Yonko and other pirates. @hxgon Fighting a stronger opponent doesn't automatically mean you win a vs battle. That's a super black and white way to look at things. Things like matchups and which categories are won over others matter far more especially when you're talking about 2 extremely relative characters like Sanji/Zoro. Sanji vs Zoro is actually a pretty interesting fight that should have tons of videos about it and its nuances. Problem is that everybody in the OP community just looks at Zoro defeating King whos stronger than Queen and says "well hes stronger so he wins". Refusing to even note how Zoro's fight was an extreme diff fight with Zoro nearly dying at many moments while Sanji's fight was like a mid diff at best due to Sanji's mental problems and a low diff once he got past his mental troubles. Saying "Zoros stronger, he defeated King so he wins." is a very boring answer that just serves to make all the Zoro fans happy as going against the norm is discouraged.
For example one example of nuance is how Zoro struggles with flying opponents, we saw that vs King and if i remember right he stated how King's flight was making things far harder than it should be. Sanji is capable of flight that's not only faster than King's but is also far more agile being able to turn at any millisecond he wants to as we saw when he was comboing Queen. When he started his combo Queen tried to strike back, Sanji instantly dashes in another direction and dashes back at Queen and kicks him in the shoulder knocking Queen into the wall disorienting him and continuing his combo. This mixed with Sanji's better observation Haki would make him significantly harder to tag in comparison to King.
Another thing to consider is the durability of Zoro and how he'd be realistically dealing with Sanji's AP. And this is the issue with looking at this fight in black & white. I always see people say Zoro oneshots Sanji yet never consider how much Sanji would be doing to Zoro since Zoro's durability isn't that good. Everyone says Zoro oneshots Sanji yet Zoro openly admitted to being capable of being oneshot by King's Jackpot explosion. King's Jackpot explosion was relative to the explosion of Boeuf Burst in size... I'll let you connect the dots.
