    Great video and top notch quality content. Such a shame that whenever you showed the watch it was out of focus and we have a sharp grass instead. Overall, nice watch but that white colour isn’t saying rugged outdoor but more like surfer or beach . For hiking, I would personally pick a black, green or brown. 👍

      Thanks for your feedback, sadly this was the first time out with this camera. I have since learned and use a different camera for the close up shots of the watches. I never stop learning.

    Hi, that was a helpful video. The Instinct 2X looks like a good value. How much does one give up in not having topo maps? Trying to decide which model would be most useful. Thanks.

    If you cover the route over multiple days does it let you stop and then carry on from partway along?

    • @ukgpstraining
      @ukgpstraining  2 роки тому +4

      Yes, you can join a course or route at any point. If I was doing a multiple day hike and you knew where you where going to get to each day you could cut it into those legs. I hope this helps.

    Hi. Really like the battery life and durability of the Instinct 2 series, but concerned about the many reports online of it randomly shutting down. Do you have any insight on this issue? Looks like a beautiful walk!
    Thanks

      Many thanks for your comment. We have sold lots of Garmin Instinct 2 GPS watches over the last few years and not had x 1 back from randonly shutting down, this is the first I have heard of this.
      I hope this helps.

      Thanks. I know that nothing is perfect, but I would really like to have a watch that will last at least long enough to justify the cost. Just watched your instinct 2s video. You really have access to some stunning walks. Happy hiking.

    Hi John, thanks for all your explanations and taking us on your nice walking tour. Great, you have sold it on me. I am doubting about the colour to choose though. The watch you are wearing , is that the "Misty Grey"? It looks white to me. Thanks for your reply, Mark from Holland

    Is there a Irish equivalent of GPS training?

  • @dougdixonhull
    @dougdixonhull 2 роки тому

    I'm very much considering buying a Garmin GPS watch. I have been using a Etrex 10 to start me on the road of GPSing. Would you say the Instinct has any major benefits over the Etrex or is it basically a wearable version? Also considering a Garmin Fenix 6 watch I can't justify the cost of the Fenix 7.

    • @ukgpstraining
      @ukgpstraining  2 роки тому +2

      The navigational experience on an Instinct is very similar to an eTrex 10, except you do have an electronic compass on the watch giving a more accurate directional arrow.
      But the watch has so much more that measures so much about you - heart rate, sleep, body battery etc etc.
      Fenix 6 then has a colour screen, Topo Active maps and more premium material.
      If you have a budget for a Fenix 6 why not go for a more high end handheld - gpstraining.co.uk/blogs/reviews/best-handheld-outdoor-gps-unit

      @@ukgpstraining very nice for a summer and clean day, its not so much if you going to walk 2 or 3 hours, but maybe in like 20 days you can gain 2 days more kinda.
      Anyways normal Active 2 its cheaper and for normal ppl wont be a difference to not have the Solar charge, since you can charge it later.
