It’s basically a front stance from karate. He is noting to open the hips a little more than is traditionally done. Similarly as one would do in the warrior 2 pose in yoga. Basically a modified yoga pose or modified karate stance. However you want to interpret it.

This is a Bow Stance (or "Gong Bu"), foundational in many Traditional Chinese Martial Arts.
