I’ve been wearing contacts since 2009. I remember the first time I was able to successfully get both contacts in without help. I was super excited... until I realized I was going to have to take them out. I originally had bi-weekly lenses but now I wear daily lenses and love them. It’s scary at first but I think it’s 100% worth it!
I love my contacts! The first time I put them in it was weird because I’m so used to wearing something on my face! The best part was that I could see so clearly!
I’ve been wearing them for ten years now, I remember crying after trying to get them out for over a half hour from frustration. But now I can put both eyes in and take both eyes out at the same time even if i really wanted to. Getting them in: have lens on index finger tip, use middle finger to open eye, and insert the lens. Taking them out: using thumb and index pinch the bottom of the lens to make a “V” and it breaks the seal, and pull down gently then remove. Also - Having nail extensions makes taking them out a LOT harder, but insertion is the same.
When I take out my contacts, I just hold my finger against the lense and slowly slide it off of iris and down towards the corner of my eye. Usually once it gets to the corner it folds up a little and is easier to pull out, but even if it doesn't fold, I find it's easier to grab it from the corner instead of just picking it off my eye.
Some tips I picked up the past decade that I've been wearing contacts daily: 1)Use a small face mirror so that you're looking down when inserting the lense (helps more than you'd think) 2)try focusing on the mirror instead of the lense when inserting 3)when inserting them, move them slightly side to side and in a circular motion (the eye tears slightly and helps with comforting fit straight away) 4)when removing them, look to the side (the eye you're removing from must be looking at the ridge of your nose) then move the lense to the white of your eye before removing with the pinch technique (wet fingers make it harder to remove) 5)When the lense feels dry, take some solution and drip a few drops on your finger (so that your finger is wet) and dab the lense with it and slightly move the lense around (helped with the late night studying) 6)If you fell asleep or took a nap with the lenses and they stick (like you can't move them around on your eye) don't panick, wet your finger with the solution and dab the lense, gently start moving it (your eye will probably move with it, but it will eventually move and you can remove it. (Please don't sleep with your contacts). 7)Clean the lenses at least once a week (if it's monthly lenses) 8)Always wash your hands before touching your lenses (if you can't, at least try keep it to an absolute minimum) 9)don't wear them too long, you'll develop veins on your eyes.

@@t.k.morris hey there so I've been using them from like 2 months and here's how I clean them: I take one lens one my palm and add the lens solution like 4 to 5 drops and gently rub the lens on both sides using my finger tips. I washed my hands with confidence that I'll remove it and I removed them in seconds THANK YOU!!!! you literally saved me from panicking that it'll stuck in my eye
For any first time contact users I promise you it gets easier! My first time putting them in and taking them out took nearly an hour! Now it takes not longer than 1 min to get them in and out (would be quicker than that but my natural lashes are super long and get in the way sometimes)
@@omo1530 your contacts will already come in a packaging that already has solution in it so you technically don’t need to add the eye drops unless your eyes feel dry after applying the contacts to your eyes. I watched every video out there about how to insert contacts as a beginner and this was literally the ONLY one that worked for me. It took some practice and I now put this video on every time I'm about to have another "lesson" and just listen to it in the background. I feel like I'm almost a "pro" now after 2 weeks of daily practice. Thanks Antonio!!!
I've been using contact lenses for almost two years, I wish this video was up back then. Thanks for making this video for those people who are new to applying contact lenses
Thank you for making sense out of it ALL! I’ve had my lenses for two weeks and have not been able to get them in. Now that you’ve explained how to place your hands, it all makes PURRRFECT sense! THANK YOU!🥳
This is the best tutorial for contact lenses there is. Having just got lenses I have been struggling to get the in and out (out is easier IMO). After watching Antonio, they were in in 5 minutes. I am more confident with them now, was actually considering not using them, but not any more. Thanks Antonio. Subscribed. Looking forward to more of your videos.
Don’t get frustrated if you don’t get your contacts in! It’s natural for your eye to shut when an object is approaching! Give it a week or two and your eyes will get used to it. It took me a while to finally get used to contacts. #1 tip, DONT GET DISCOURAGED
For anyone struggling to get contacts in, it took me many hours of trying to get contacts in and out. I know it seems impossible but it will get easier. What helped me was not putting the contact on my finger tip, but on the side part of my finger, almost like at 1:14 except more on the side.
An excellent and very complete tutorial. Thank you! SO many tutorials do not include removal. The end is just as important as the beginning. Great job with the visuals and the props, and the very calm and clear instructions with troubleshooting included. Just perfect.
I searched for contacts for beginners and this is the best video. First try last time without watching this video it takes me 2 hours putting the lens and my eyes are already red, then watching your video only takes me 3 minutes legit! Thank you!!!
This video is so informative, thank you doctor! I have been wearing lenses for 1 year now and I can assure everyone who’s struggling: it will become easier as you get used to it, do not worry!!! At first, the thing I had more difficulty with was to remove them since I didn’t know this tip which you have to slide the lenses down towards your sclera to then pinch it, I used to try to pinch it while on my cornea, which’d make me freak out since we aren’t used to touching our cornea when we first use lenses. Then I found out this tip and it was a piece of cake, really. What still happens to me, though, is sometimes, when wearing them for the first seconds, they don’t adjust quickly so my vision gets a bit blurry for a few seconds till the lenses can adjust themselves to my cornea. Other than that, it’s been really good to wear lenses.

I started wearing contact lens since I was 19, over 2 decades have past and no problems so far... I'm thankful to my opthalmologist who taught me the right technique...in the very first try it was so easy n quick... These are the steps: 1.Wash your hands with soap 2.Just relax and sit down on a chair 3. Place a light yellow napkin on ur lap or on the table 4.Check the curvature of ur lens..it should be convex 5.Then place the lens on the index finger (of ur dominant hand) and tilt your head down and then just look straight at the contact lens and bring it near your eye, just look straight at the lens so that the cornea is aligned with the curvature of your contact lens.. don't blink ur eye and don't look away from the lens...as u take it closer to ur eye the lens naturally sticks to your cornea and then just look in the mirror to fix the lens position perfectly with a gentle push (I prefer a round hand mirror and hold it in my left hand)...once u become pro u don't even need a mirror... I use the right hand index finger again to put the other lens in my left eye and it sticks easily as well... Note: In case if the lens fall off from ur hand it will land on the napkin..since the light yellow colour of the napkin doesn't block the visibility of lens it's easier to find it... Avoid wearing lens while u r in standing position..especially at the wash basin mirror area (it can fell off in the sink/basin and will get contaminated and also there are high chances of losing it)...
It's my first time wearing contact lenses and I was worried it'll be hard to take them out or put them in cause i read comments saying it took them hours, but I got both of mine out in less than a minute. I felt like a pro. Thanks 😂
I had the problem I was feeling extremely uncomfortable when people were telling me I had to open my eye that much. So I learned it my own way and now I'm able to put them on by opening my eye as much as the beginners do. I believe it's about how comfortable you feel rather than what's the right way to do it.
@@yna4198 I hold my lashes with the tip of my hands and I move my face downwards so there is enough space for the contact in the eyelid. When the contact is in my eye I move my pupils left and right and the contact goes at the right place by itself.

just got contacts yesterday, took me too long before watching this video, I got small ass eyes, so the tucking method worked almost instantly. predicate you bro !
I actually bought one of those applicators and it was a game changer for me... because not only do I feel like it's more hygienic, I also can apply the lenses waaay faster and easier, as opposed to using my fingers, because they get very adherent to the lens after washing my hands and the application became a nightmare (yes, I did dry them thoroughly, they're just porous). Also, I find it easier to just keep my eye open wide with 2 fingers from 1 hand instead of the method you showed, which triggers a pain in my shoulder somehow and makes my hand tremble ( old injury).. and you don't want trembling hands when applying contacts.
I keep looking away when placing coloured contacts and i thought it didnt have an effect on how the contact would go in but now i know! Thankyou for this video :)
I wasn’t even sure about the right way to touch the eyeballs but this video clarified everything to me about how I should place my finger so that I don’t hurt my cornea and everything. Thanks to I gained the confidence and succeeded in placing in my contact lenses. Grateful that this video exists!

5:07 hell no, removal is the part of wearing contacts i dread most, i usually just don't wear them because taking them out is so difficult for me. I have tiny eyes that when fully stretched open isn't much bigger than my iris, and that makes all the conventional methods of removal really difficult. Just recently while trying to take my contact out it tore in my eye and hurt so bad.
I also have small eyes, my optometrist suggested using eye drops first then trying to locate the edges of the lense and gently pinching them, the lens folds and can be get put of the eye, that's how I get mine removed even if I don't fully open my eye during this. But putting them in is a real struggle for me, both because of blinking and my eyes being really small (but blinking seems to be main issue)
When you mentioned freaking out once you feel on the eye, I was so relieved I’m not the only one who does it. I’m gonna try and practice more! I want to put contact lenses for my Halloween costume. It’s a long way away, but at least I have a lot of time to practice!
If it’s too difficult to swirl them on the eye, just make sure it’s flat wherever it is on the eye and then slowly close your eyelid over the contact. Look around in all directions with your eyes closed. Then open your eyes and blink profusely. If you tear up and start crying, don’t worry about it! It’s totally natural! Don’t rub the tears or rub your eyes or you might dislodge the contact or hurt yourself. Just keep blinking. It may take a few minutes to get used to it, but it will position itself if you look around and keep blinking :)
I recently started wearing contacts and for me I find it easy to put it in but it was a pain in the a** to take them out. (I have astigmatism btw) The first night I had to take them out it took me 3 hrs and I only got them out because my sister held my eye open. The next nights I still needed her help until one night she had class and I had to figure it out for myself. I always had more trouble with the left than the right. The trick I used for the right didn’t work on the left and I was so upset. (The trick for the right was to put my fingers on the lens, hold for 5 sec, and pinch off) So that night I put both fingers on the left eye and I moved the contact over and looked the other way and pinched and it came out. If you are seeing this I hope you can use my tricks and don’t give up on yourself it takes time to find what works for you.
What makes it easy for me to take them out is that I look onto the white part of the eye on the bottom of the lens then I pinch the edge on the bottom so to say. That way I dont have to put my fingers directly to my pupil. Putting them in is such a hassle for me! Because I can’t stand my finger coming to my eye!
Thank you so much for this! I am studying optometry right now, but I always got disappointed at myself because during the classes about lenses I could never get one in so my fellow students could rate the fitting. Now I can help them by finally putting in lenses!
Thanks for this! I have an appointment soon to learn how to insert and remove them soon, and this helps a bit. My problem is that I have an extreme blink reflex and my eyes water soooo easily. Even just thinking about eyes makes them water. It takes me ages to get through the tests of eye exams haha. I'll start practicing pulling my eyelids. :)
It took me half an hour to finally manage to put it only in one eye and now I'm watching videos bcoz I did not anticipate this to be soo difficult I mean dam you muscles
For those new to contacts, over a few weeks, those reflexes to shut your eye will gradually go away. I started out putting them more off to the side of my iris so I don't see a finger coming toward my eye. Then once stuck on the eye, slowly nudging it toward the center, using slow blinks if needed. YOU JUST SAVED MY LIFE
Yes exactly how I do it. Much easier and way more comfortable then how he said to do it in this video
Some tips I picked up the past decade that I've been wearing contacts daily:
1)Use a small face mirror so that you're looking down when inserting the lense (helps more than you'd think)
2)try focusing on the mirror instead of the lense when inserting
3)when inserting them, move them slightly side to side and in a circular motion (the eye tears slightly and helps with comforting fit straight away)
4)when removing them, look to the side (the eye you're removing from must be looking at the ridge of your nose) then move the lense to the white of your eye before removing with the pinch technique (wet fingers make it harder to remove)
5)When the lense feels dry, take some solution and drip a few drops on your finger (so that your finger is wet) and dab the lense with it and slightly move the lense around (helped with the late night studying)
6)If you fell asleep or took a nap with the lenses and they stick (like you can't move them around on your eye) don't panick, wet your finger with the solution and dab the lense, gently start moving it (your eye will probably move with it, but it will eventually move and you can remove it. (Please don't sleep with your contacts).
7)Clean the lenses at least once a week (if it's monthly lenses)
8)Always wash your hands before touching your lenses (if you can't, at least try keep it to an absolute minimum)
9)don't wear them too long, you'll develop veins on your eyes.
Wow! That’s for the informative tips!

@@t.k.morris hey there so I've been using them from like 2 months and here's how I clean them:
I take one lens one my palm and add the lens solution like 4 to 5 drops and gently rub the lens on both sides using my finger tips.
Before doing this make sure to wash your contact case with water and air dry it. Don't use any fabric or tissue or even that makes it dirty. I do this cleanup like twice a week and it works for me.
Hope this helps❤️
i cant get them in without using mirrors, its impossible for me lol.
I was one of the luckier ones who got used to putting them in in 2 days. This video however, made things much more efficient. ty!
Glad I could help!
I got used to them in the first week, thankfully, but it took my aunt months.
Two days ago I managed to put one in in two hours with the advice of my optometrist. Today I got both in in about 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Thank you very much man!

just got my contacts, my doc suggested me dragging on the side. i was struggling for 10 mins on her way but then i decided to go on yt and see your way how to do it because you are professional in area. I washed my hands with confidence that I'll remove it and I removed them in seconds THANK YOU!!!! you literally saved me from panicking that it'll stuck in my eye
hehe 😄
For any first time contact users I promise you it gets easier! My first time putting them in and taking them out took nearly an hour! Now it takes not longer than 1 min to get them in and out (would be quicker than that but my natural lashes are super long and get in the way sometimes)
Do you use contact lens eyedrops or it is not required? I am still a beginner hehe.
@@omo1530 your contacts will already come in a packaging that already has solution in it so you technically don’t need to add the eye drops unless your eyes feel dry after applying the contacts to your eyes. PSA incase you don’t know what dry eyes feel like:(When they feel dry it’s very uncomfortable and feels like an eyelash is sitting on your eye)
@@user-sk4cw5lx4f Omg thank you, that's very helpful. I forgot to include eyedrops in my purchase, I got worried that I won't be able to use it until I buy eyedrops. Thank youuuu!
@@omo1530 i usually put a drop or two of solution on the inside of my lenses. i find it makes them “suck” onto the cornea/eye easier and i have really bad dry eyes so it helps prevent the scratchy feeling that brings.
Oh, and I have every intention of telling my optometrist that this is the best beginner video out there!

This is the best tutorial for contact lenses there is. Having just got lenses I have been struggling to get the in and out (out is easier IMO). After watching Antonio, they were in in 5 minutes. Don’t get frustrated if you don’t get your contacts in! It’s natural for your eye to shut when an object is approaching! Give it a week or two and your eyes will get used to it. It took me a while to finally get used to contacts. #1 tip, DONT GET DISCOURAGED
💪

It cringes me out how comfortable I should be touching my eyeballs
It’s like trying to fight your instincts! 😂
That would hurt really bad

😂😂😂 thanks for the support!! 🙏🙏
I started wearing contact lens since I was 19, over 2 decades have past and no problems so far...
I'm thankful to my opthalmologist who taught me the right technique...in the very first try it was so easy n quick...
These are the steps:
1.Wash your hands with soap
2.Just relax and sit down on a chair
3. Place a light yellow napkin on ur lap or on the table
4.Check the curvature of ur lens..it should be convex
5.Then place the lens on the index finger (of ur dominant hand) and tilt your head down and then just look straight at the contact lens and bring it near your eye, just look straight at the lens so that the cornea is aligned with the curvature of your contact lens.. don't blink ur eye and don't look away from the lens...as u take it closer to ur eye the lens naturally sticks to your cornea and then just look in the mirror to fix the lens position perfectly with a gentle push (I prefer a round hand mirror and hold it in my left hand)...once u become pro u don't even need a mirror...
I use the right hand index finger again to put the other lens in my left eye and it sticks easily as well...
Note:
In case if the lens fall off from ur hand it will land on the napkin..since the light yellow colour of the napkin doesn't block the visibility of lens it's easier to find it...
Avoid wearing lens while u r in standing position..especially at the wash basin mirror area (it can fell off in the sink/basin and will get contaminated and also there are high chances of losing it)...
My opt. Never told me this. I stayed for an hour trying to get my contacts in. Thank you for the details. It was very helpful
Very true! 👍
Would you mind sharing the way you put them on? I want to start wearing contacts but the thought of stretching out my eye that much freaks me out
@@yna4198 I hold my lashes with the tip of my hands and I move my face downwards so there is enough space for the contact in the eyelid. When the contact is in my eye I move my pupils left and right and the contact goes at the right place by itself.
I have struggled for years putting contacts in by myself! I just put them in 3 times in a row (I've always been able to take them out on my own)! Thank you!
I tried on my own, with different tutorials, nothing worked until I saw your video. I had successfully gotten one in before but i battled with the other for what seems like forever. I got both in after watching your video, thank you!
Glad it helped out!! 👍
just got contacts yesterday, took me too long before watching this video, I got small ass eyes, so the tucking method worked almost instantly. predicate you bro !
Its the only way to go. Use a pen-cap if need be.
This is the video that helped me!!!

😢
@@AntonioTheOptom same I try take out mine for about 2 and half hours to the point my eyes turns red
It's the other way around with me, taking them off easier than putting them in
I also have small eyes, my optometrist suggested using eye drops first then trying to locate the edges of the lense and gently pinching them, the lens folds and can be get put of the eye, that's how I get mine removed even if I don't fully open my eye during this. But putting them in is a real struggle for me, both because of blinking and my eyes being really small (but blinking seems to be main issue)
@@Dorafran86 I hope it only gets easier and easier from here! 🙏
When you mentioned freaking out once you feel on the eye, I was so relieved I’m not the only one who does it. I’m gonna try and practice more! I want to put contact lenses for my Halloween costume. It’s a long way away, but at least I have a lot of time to practice!
I teach people everyday and this is the best video I have seen will show this video to my patients!
Good suggestions! 👍
Try to move the lens away from the cornea to minimise the potential damage you could cause to it 😄 but thanks for sharing your tips!
