Beijing also has a huge subway system. In the past, Beijing's subway fares were probably the cheapest in the world. Only 2 yuan RMB was needed. There was no distance limit, but now they are priced the same way as Shenzhen or Shanghai. You can go to Beijing to experience the world's largest and high-tech single terminal airport, and go to Chongqing, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Qingdao, Dalian, Xi 'an and other cities, all of which have many tall buildings and many ancient buildings. I suggest that you should at least open your account in bilibili or douyin, and at least make and share your Chinese experience once a day or once a week. this is an important base for many foreigners to become internet celebrities and get a lot of fans and attention in China.
That's what I hate about the USA, the people there think that by lying about China and putting it down it would make their country look better, but once people found out just how superior China is to the USA in so many ways they feel betrayed and lied to by their own country and from there on it would make it hard for the American people to trust their own government and media again!
Hi I've been there one year an half ago, Shanghai It's really awesome, if someone has't gone there I suggest them visit it, has the most incredible underground lines "metro" in the world and the city is I don't know how to say it, fantastic, amazing, very very clean, no pollution, beautiful places to visit, one can find whatever thing that one desire, the food is delicious, awesome the skyscrapers, the city inspire an environment of future, the people are lovely, etc.
I am always amazed at the newer great cities in China. It makes America's cities truly 3rd world. When I was in Laos a tourist said I have to see Shanghai. I hope so.
Those who never been to Shanghai would never believe how significant this 'Oriental pearl' has developed in these years. They prefer to trust the lies, trust the propaganda western medias delivered and BS on the internet... Shanghai, such a metropolis, such a wonderful city. In the year 2011, I was working at the same spot where you guys are. Two colleagues from NYC came for meetings. After a long day of work, I took them from Lujiazui to Huaihai road by taxi to have a hotpot. They said this city made New York look like a small town. I thought they were polite. 2 years later, I transferred to the NYC office. Well, they were so damn right!!!
What I like the most? - You can take a walk out 3 a.m. it is totally safe no problem, just enjoy the tranquil beautiful night, or street food with a beer should you desire. Here in the US? You better have a Glock 19 fully loaded in your pocket to walk outside at night.
@@raybod17755 years ago I stayed in Chicago for 4 days and I heard police cars every night when I'm in bed. When I visited UChicago there was aiding alarms in every intersection. On my second day there the news said a man was killed in a gang fight in Southern Chicago. During the day in downtown Chicago there were several big black guys(probably homeless) came up to me ask me to give them $10. So yes, during the night if I have to go out, I would definitely consider taking a weapon with me, because I feel totally unsafe.
I think the reason is: most of the American cities/towns are less populous, when you go out at 3am, most of the time there will be no one on the street. Once you found someone walking on the street at that time, combined with the fact that most people own a weapon, you should be a little concerned about your safety. While in China even if you go out at midnight, there are still many people out there. Also most of the people don't even have any deadly weapon, and there are cameras everywhere so you don't really need to worry about your safety.

Firefly It came from years of authorities telling people that only sick people should wear masks. Thus in western countries there is a taboo associated with wearing masks. Almost frowned upon, so it becomes a disincentive to wear one. Silly mentality.
Interesting video ...... As a Brit who spent 15 years living in London, and has now been living in Shanghai for 3 years, I agree the scale of a city like Shanghai is very impressive ... I wouldn't go as far as to say Shanghai makes London feel "small", but it does make London feel like a mid sized Chinese city (perhaps about the same as a second tier city such as Wuhan / Changsha) ...... where as in Europe, London is considered huge compared to other European cities such as Milan, Barcelona, Frankfurt, Amsterdam etc ...... The part at 2.27 saying how long it takes on the metro to get from one side of Shanghai to the other, is also true of London ... If you take the District Line from Upminster in East London, it takes around 1 hour and 45 minutes to reach Heathrow Airport on the outskirts of West London. That journey involves stopping at around 51 underground stations ... so it's a very long and boring journey! ...... So if it takes that long to get across London, it probably takes more than 2 hours or even 2 hours 30 mins to get from one side of Shanghai to the other ... but I have never tried going from one end of the Shanghai metro to the other! Shanghai will continue to grow, and as such, the subway system will grow accordingly. There are currently 17 subway lines in Shanghai, and around 8 more lines either planned or under construction ... so in the future, Shanghai will have 25 subway lines. That is some rate of expansion ...... so maybe in the future it will take 3 hours or more to get from one end of the Shanghai metro to the other! The skyline will also continue to grow, and I'm sure at some point Shanghai will eventually have more skyscrapers than Hong Kong. Guys if you enjoyed Shanghai and have an interest in the wider East Asia region, I would also recommend a trip to Tokyo if you get chance. The Greater Tokyo / Yokohama region is home to 37 million people. Tokyo is also an exhilarating, crowded, fast paced East Asian city, and there is so much to see and do there ... If you do get chance to go there, definitely check out Shinjuku station ... it is the world's busiest train station, and is an absolute maze of rail lines, subway lines, escalators, underpasses, restaurants and shopping malls! ... The scale of it is incredible ... and Tokyo also has about 5 equivalents of New York's "Times Square" ........ the obvious one being in Shibuya, central Tokyo ...... but when it comes to the skyline, I have to say Shanghai and many other Chinese cities are much more impressive than Tokyo ... Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Chongqing all have world class skylines ... but Tokyo is also an immense metropolis, and worth checking out. In fact my two favourite cities in Asia are Shanghai and Tokyo ... it's hard to choose between them 😎

I lived in Shanghai for nearly my whole life, I should tell you that every building you see in this video were built in the last 25 years. We are expecting more stuff poping up in China as the urbanization continues.

I was born in a rural area in fujian province in china. I moved to the USA in 2007. When i went back to visit china in 2017, i was totally amazed. my hometown developed so fast, we had subway built, i can use mobile pay everywhere. It is just so convenient. Then i decided to travel to other cities alone. I felt so safe as a girl traveling alone. In 2019, the government is building Subway station in my hometown(the rural area). I am so proud of being a chinese.
The notion that the Chinese could not develop advanced technology, so they must have stolen it is essentially racist. The fact Huawei's 5G technology is up to two years ahead of anything else proves that China is not only capable of developing advanced technologies, but are doing so, while the West, especially the USA is in denial. If the Chinese are only capable of stealing technology, the West has nothing to worry about - that means China will always be a little behind technologically. But anyone with an open mind can see that this is not the case.
Like Japan, Taiwan and Korea, China can take existing tech and improve upon it. I don't really consider it stealing technology. It's a company saying, "We can make that better."

That's because the automobile industry is privately run whilst public transportation are normally run by the government. So as an effort to protect the growth of private enterprise, government may make it less alluring for you to take public transportation. Beside your population is probably not large enough to sustain a low cost efficiency coverage.

I talked about scale after visiting Beijing. Everything is massive and it needs to be. London may be smaller but much more chaotic, still impressive in its own right. In terms of scale Moscow is another monster I hope you get to experience.
David Parker In my imagination, London is a place full of historical heritages and the elegant British style, whereas I actually came here, I just worried about my safety issue every day. (So many crimes happen here which has already make it become chaotic and dangerous. )

My wife’s city is Qingdao. I lived there back in 2013 when a subway system was just starting to be built. I returned in 2016 and it was completely operational (new lines are still being built) Unbelievable development that puts us in the UK to shame.

Thank you very much for the video.It brought back sweet memory when I n my family visited Shanghai 9 years ago, especially the Shanghai Bund., seeing the new Shanghai n Colonial Shanghai, when the lights were on.U should also go up the Oriental Pearl Tower n look down. The view down is really fantastic, with all the high rise buildings n multi level overhead bridges.U should also show us the night boat cruise with the LED lights on both sides of the river. It was memorable.

After lived in Beijing, Shanghai and now in Tokyo. To be honest with you, I went to Boston and San Fransico, I was like why these two famous cities are so small and inconvenient. Limited choice of restaurants, not safe to walk alone in late night, train system is so underdeveloped, kinda opened my eyes, and I don’t understand why would ppl want to live in US if they have chance to live in city like Tokyo or Shanghai
As a comparison, in the US near where I live they took 6 months to plan and another 3 months to move a small traffic intersection 50 yards down the road to improve the traffic flow. At the state level they took 20 years to finish a new junction between 2 large interstate highways.
It took two years for the construction company at my hometown of Baltimore, MD, USA to finish putting a new layer of pavement for a section of road about 65 yards! They closed about 160 yard section of the road for 1.75 years before they finally get to work to fix the darn road! Meanwhile all that time I had to find an alternative route to get to work and do other things!

Hi I've been there one year an half ago, Shanghai It's really awesome, if someone has't gone there I suggest them visit it, has the most incredible underground lines "metro" in the world and the city is I don't know how to say it, fantastic, amazing, very very clean, no pollution, beautiful places to visit, one can find whatever thing that one desire, the food is delicious, awesome the skyscrapers, the city inspire an environment of future, the people are lovely, etc.
I am always amazed at the newer great cities in China. It makes America's cities truly 3rd world. When I was in Laos a tourist said I have to see Shanghai. I hope so.
Nanning, Guangxi is very close to Laos. I think Nanning is better than Shanghai. Because Nanning has more green than Shanghai.

In the year 2011, I was working at the same spot where you guys are. Two colleagues from NYC came for meetings. After a long day of work, I took them from Lujiazui to Huaihai road by taxi to have a hotpot. They said this city made New York look like a small town. I thought they were polite. 2 years later, I transferred to the NYC office. Well, they were so damn right!!!
What I like the most? - You can take a walk out 3 a.m. it is totally safe no problem, just enjoy the tranquil beautiful night, or street food with a beer should you desire. Here in the US? You better have a Glock 19 fully loaded in your pocket to walk outside at night.
That's not true for 90% of U.S. Yes, there are areas that are that bad.
The surveillance gives you freedom. Stark contrast to the way it's described on Western media.
@@raybod17755 years ago I stayed in Chicago for 4 days and I heard police cars every night when I'm in bed. When I visited UChicago there was aiding alarms in every intersection. On my second day there the news said a man was killed in a gang fight in Southern Chicago. During the day in downtown Chicago there were several big black guys(probably homeless) came up to me ask me to give them $10. So yes, during the night if I have to go out, I would definitely consider taking a weapon with me, because I feel totally unsafe.
I think the reason is: most of the American cities/towns are less populous, when you go out at 3am, most of the time there will be no one on the street. Once you found someone walking on the street at that time, combined with the fact that most people own a weapon, you should be a little concerned about your safety. While in China even if you go out at midnight, there are still many people out there. Also most of the people don't even have any deadly weapon, and there are cameras everywhere so you don't really need to worry about your safety.

Firefly It came from years of authorities telling people that only sick people should wear masks. Thus in western countries there is a taboo associated with wearing masks. Almost frowned upon, so it becomes a disincentive to wear one. Silly mentality.
Interesting video ...... As a Brit who spent 15 years living in London, and has now been living in Shanghai for 3 years, I agree the scale of a city like Shanghai is very impressive ... I wouldn't go as far as to say Shanghai makes London feel "small", but it does make London feel like a mid sized Chinese city (perhaps about the same as a second tier city such as Wuhan / Changsha) ...... where as in Europe, London is considered huge compared to other European cities such as Milan, Barcelona, Frankfurt, Amsterdam etc ...... The part at 2.27 saying how long it takes on the metro to get from one side of Shanghai to the other, is also true of London ... If you take the District Line from Upminster in East London, it takes around 1 hour and 45 minutes to reach Heathrow Airport on the outskirts of West London. That journey involves stopping at around 51 underground stations ... so it's a very long and boring journey! ...... So if it takes that long to get across London, it probably takes more than 2 hours or even 2 hours 30 mins to get from one side of Shanghai to the other ... but I have never tried going from one end of the Shanghai metro to the other!
Shanghai will continue to grow, and as such, the subway system will grow accordingly. There are currently 17 subway lines in Shanghai, and around 8 more lines either planned or under construction ... so in the future, Shanghai will have 25 subway lines. That is some rate of expansion ...... so maybe in the future it will take 3 hours or more to get from one end of the Shanghai metro to the other! The skyline will also continue to grow, and I'm sure at some point Shanghai will eventually have more skyscrapers than Hong Kong.
Guys if you enjoyed Shanghai and have an interest in the wider East Asia region, I would also recommend a trip to Tokyo if you get chance. The Greater Tokyo / Yokohama region is home to 37 million people. Tokyo is also an exhilarating, crowded, fast paced East Asian city, and there is so much to see and do there ... If you do get chance to go there, definitely check out Shinjuku station ... it is the world's busiest train station, and is an absolute maze of rail lines, subway lines, escalators, underpasses, restaurants and shopping malls! ... The scale of it is incredible ... and Tokyo also has about 5 equivalents of New York's "Times Square" ........ the obvious one being in Shibuya, central Tokyo ...... but when it comes to the skyline, I have to say Shanghai and many other Chinese cities are much more impressive than Tokyo ... Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Chongqing all have world class skylines ... but Tokyo is also an immense metropolis, and worth checking out. In fact my two favourite cities in Asia are Shanghai and Tokyo ... it's hard to choose between them 😎
How about Seoul? Most and longest subway lines in the world.

I lived in Shanghai for nearly my whole life, I should tell you that every building you see in this video were built in the last 25 years. I was born in a rural area in fujian province in china. I moved to the USA in 2007. When i went back to visit china in 2017, i was totally amazed. my hometown developed so fast, we had subway built, i can use mobile pay everywhere. It is just so convenient. Then i decided to travel to other cities alone. I felt so safe as a girl traveling alone. In 2019, the government is building Subway station in my hometown(the rural area). I am so proud of being a chinese.
This video makes my city looks like a 3red world country. And yet, we're accusing them of stealing our technologies. 🤣

The notion that the Chinese could not develop advanced technology, so they must have stolen it is essentially racist. The fact Huawei's 5G technology is up to two years ahead of anything else proves that China is not only capable of developing advanced technologies, but are doing so, while the West, especially the USA is in denial. If the Chinese are only capable of stealing technology, the West has nothing to worry about - that means China will always be a little behind technologically. But anyone with an open mind can see that this is not the case.
Like Japan, Taiwan and Korea, China can take existing tech and improve upon it.
I don't really consider it stealing technology. It's a company saying, "We can make that better."

Public transport is expensive too in Australia. So we drive.
That's because the automobile industry is privately run whilst public transportation are normally run by the government. So as an effort to protect the growth of private enterprise, government may make it less alluring for you to take public transportation. Beside your population is probably not large enough to sustain a low cost efficiency coverage.
If you are Aussie, please do not go to China because now Australians want to sue Xi Jin Ping for destroying the world's economy.

I talked about scale after visiting Beijing. Everything is massive and it needs to be. London may be smaller but much more chaotic, still impressive in its own right. In terms of scale Moscow is another monster I hope you get to experience.

My wife’s city is Qingdao. I lived there back in 2013 when a subway system was just starting to be built. I returned in 2016 and it was completely operational (new lines are still being built) Unbelievable development that puts us in the UK to shame.

Thank you very much for the video.It brought back sweet memory when I n my family visited Shanghai 9 years ago, especially the Shanghai Bund., seeing the new Shanghai n Colonial Shanghai, when the lights were on.U should also go up the Oriental Pearl Tower n look down. The view down is really fantastic, with all the high rise buildings n multi level overhead bridges.U should also show us the night boat cruise with the LED lights on both sides of the river. It was memorable.

Afaik, in china, when they do things, most of the time, its for the benefit of the people. In america, its for the benefit of the investor.
Socialism is the government management to share the cake fairly to people, China actually strongly respect capitalism, which is the topic of making cake, socialism is politics, it is to share cake, capitalism and socialism are actually brother of each other, they do not conflicting with each other, this is happening in China that’s why China grow fast, but actually very few people realized it even including Chinese ourselves

This shows us that socialism is something to fear. Socialism does create well being and wealth for all. In the West they tell us that under a socialism system we will be unhappy, that the government will take your children away, or you can only eat a tiny bowl of food once a day etc.. My respect to the CCP and the Chinese people.
After lived in Beijing, Shanghai and now in Tokyo. To be honest with you, I went to Boston and San Fransico, I was like why these two famous cities are so small and inconvenient. Limited choice of restaurants, not safe to walk alone in late night, train system is so underdeveloped, kinda opened my eyes, and I don’t understand why would ppl want to live in US if they have chance to live in city like Tokyo or Shanghai

As a comparison, in the US near where I live they took 6 months to plan and another 3 months to move a small traffic intersection 50 yards down the road to improve the traffic flow.
At the state level they took 20 years to finish a new junction between 2 large interstate highways.
It took two years for the construction company at my hometown of Baltimore, MD, USA to finish putting a new layer of pavement for a section of road about 65 yards! They closed about 160 yard section of the road for 1.75 years before they finally get to work to fix the darn road! Meanwhile all that time I had to find an alternative route to get to work and do other things!
