Seven years after the release of their last album 'Eternal', Stratovarius once more prove their status as Power Metal's flagship and return with a big bang.
A blistering comeback from one of heavy metal’s most seminal bands, Survive is full of dynamics and drama, feeding on a wide range of emotions along the way. But the core message that this triumphant endeavour conveys is one of struggle, defiance, hope and victory.
Best exemplified by its profoundly rousing title track, Survive is the Stratovarius spirit in exquisite musical form, with all the darkness and light that goes with it.
“We spent five or six days solid, trying to come up with the lyrics for that song,” notes Jens Johansson. “When we finally settled on that punchline for the chorus, it was a good song about survival and it all just seemed to fit. It fits with the history of the band too, because we managed to survive as long as we have. This band has been through some strange days! The original line-up formed in 1984, so it’s been a long story. It was the middle of the summer, there were forest fires everywhere, there was a global pandemic and all kinds of crazy shit going on. Some of the lyrics are perhaps less uplifting than they could have been, but that reflects our mood at the time. There’s a lot of positive stuff on there as well!”

They work with producers that's why
If it was just the lyric video it would still sound like 90's.
That's why it's quite difficult to find new bands to follow nowadays.
Don't get me wrong, there's a few jewels here and there, but most modern bands don't really "stick" with you for long, you give them a listen a couple times for a couple months and then they kind of fall apart, you kinda don't want to listen to them anymore.
It's quite unique and rare when a band finds its sound and sticks with it, despite being in a very competitive genre; for example, in Prog. Rock/Metal, bands like Soen and Riverside have their own unique sound and they stand on their own, same with Vola, Caligula's Horse or BTBAM, that's 5 bands already that are "must listen material" for any Prog. Rock/Metal fan, and that's not comparing them to the big names yet.
Stratovarius is the same, they are such a big name but the genre doesn't really give as much freedom, so it's mostly dependant on the great vocals and musicianship, something that has always been iconic in this band.
I've never been more ready for new Stratovarius material. It's been way too long
and it will be worth the wait

It's been 4 years since we had any new song from the band, and another long 7 years since the last album, but it's finally time! Needless to say, they never disappoint whenever they release a new single, this one sounds very powerful from the get go and with a clear message that the album will carry on the energy the band has been having for the past 13 years since "Polaris". Catchy chorus, heavy riffs, powerful melodies, feels like a mix of all the previous albums condensed into an awesome single, been listening to it since release and I can finally put into words what I feel about it... Excited for what's to come!

It's been around 10 years since I first listened to stratovarius and I'm still constantly in awe of how much energy they carry into their new songs. When all is said and done they may have the most consistently awesome track record in power metal. Doubly impressive for how long they've been in the game.
What i like Stratovarius is that they r becoming older, but they r like wine, each new album is better and better.
This song has strong message from STRATOVARIUS.

@@Pete-ik5rf Intermission 2 was kind of a new release. There were 3 new songs there but the rest were b-sides and bonus tracks from previous albums. And some orchestral arranges. Survive is a full length new album!

I haven't listened to Stratovarius in a long time, 7 years since their last release. It reminds more of Tracedawn than Stratovarius which is a good thing. I love how guitar driven the song is but still has Jen's sound all over it. Matias is an incredible player, even his rhythm playing has so much flavour with slides, harmonies and bends. Timo's vocals on point as always and still somehow managing to find new melodies after such a lengthy career. This feels like Jens and Timo learned a lot from working on Cain's Offering - Stormcrow with Jani and brought those elements back to Stratovarius. To top it off the mix is fat with every instrument clearly audible. Great to hear the guys giving it their all. Hyped for the full album!

El último disco de estudio totalmente nuevo fue el 'Eternal" de 2015.

Modern and Classic power metal, Kotipelto in Form , Stratovarius are active, solid, flawless studio albums , NEMESIS was for me the beginning of a new era that certificates that they are the Best and the Kings of Power Metal.
Nemesis was a great album, a modern sound without totally loosing the distinctive stratovarious sound

Honestly, since Tolkki left (as much as I love the old Strato), the band has evolved consistently album after album.
Yeah. But tolkkis fans wont understand this, they want tolkki back (i dont believe tolkki now can make songs like in his time with stratovarius) and the same style of songs with the same structures and super chorus that only made kotipelto suffering when he had to sing them, like find your own voice. Now the band has more liberty to create and compound songs

As always, Stratovarius has never disappointed me. It was worth waiting almost 7 years for a new studio album. I got to know the band here from UA-cam recommendations, when he recommended Chasing Shadows to me on the now distant Dreamspace in 1994. I loved Enigma: Intermission 2, especially Oblivion, Enigma, and Old Man and the Sea, and I'm feeling the same vibes from Oblivion/Enigma in this song. I LOVE it. I love all Stratovarius's music, but specifically their newer stuff Polaris and on, and I think this new direction they've been heading and refining their sound is simply awesome. I love this band. Best power metal band there is!

Band formed on the year of my birth, 1985, and have been my favourite band for two decades. The flavour here was of course recognisable, and welcome. Ten listens later, it is part of my soul.. A haste, an elegance, a story. Give us three more singles before the album drops in Sept. I will buy the CD for my old truck, it's played all the others.
