Appreciate the fact that you aren't hyping these cars up to the stratosphere like some other cartubers, and you're actually being reasonable with the limitations of these cars.
Huge congrats on 100k subs!! Been following this channel since around 60k subs and great to see Redriven grow, but honestly its still outrageously underrated! Keep up the great work guys you guys deserve all the success for the quality contents!
I recently picked up a Citroen DS3 DSport. It’s got 3 doors, a 6 speed manual and a turbo 1.6 from the same family of engines found in minis and Peugeots. A bigger turbo and dump pipe and the power goes from 115 kw to 150.
I'm here for the watches. I guess the cars are good too. Loving the 5 cylinder representation of the Volvo and agree that the S1 is definitely a favourite little weapon.
I own an S1 and have tuned it up a bit. I will never sell it. It is awesome with even just a stage 1 tune (it took over a year before my clutch went but the replacement is bullet proof). The short wheel base helps make the car insanely fun to drive, especially on unpopulated mountain roads. I've seen stage 3 tunes get 0-100 in 3.7s. If you ever get the chance to drive one you should. Magic car!
Good list and a worthy winner. If anyone can think of another car that left the factory with so much of its performance potential deliberately sandbagged so it didn’t outperform other cars from its maker (S3), then I’d like to hear it. Very responsive car that totally comes alive after even a stage 1 tune.
EA113/EA888 cars are great. You’re right about the non Golf models being overlooked. A3/A4 both share the engine, and aren’t much in penalty for weight with the A4. A4 is a good alternative to the WRX/STI and EVO, much like the Mazda 6 you mentioned.
Congrats 100k subscribers! Keep up the great work!😀 Interesting list! Would of never thought about those cars but makes perfect sense as a platform to tune, also prices not insane on those. Do like that Kia Proceed GT! 🏁
I own a clio RS 220 trophy with well over 170kw with just software tune. running it 5 yrs without issue. so your first recommendation could be a great sleeper
I wanted a Mazdaspeed6 so badly a while back. Ended up with a 2007 Legacy GT. Similar mission. Call it a gentleman's hotrod. With light mods, it was awesome!
How are you finding the Liberty? I wanted an MPS or a Liberty GT, but got scared about potential reliability options and went in the complete opposite direction and got a Fiesta ST instead lol
@@s.baldrick3807 I loved it for the almost 7 years I owned it. I drove it hard and definitely didn't baby it and it never let me down. I did blow up the turbo once but that was totally my fault. I was pushing it particularly hard at higher than normal boost. I was able to source a replacement turbo off of Subaru forum and drove the car to over 220,000 miles. It finally succumbed to head gaskets but at that point I had more than gotten my money's worth out of it. I'll say one thing, it's the best Legacy that Subaru ever made. All the newer ones just don't have that same character. My current daily driver is a 2003 Jaguar XK8 convertible which I also love but for totally different reasons. I would love to have a Fiesta ST as a daily runabout and save the Jag for special occasions, but we only have a two-car garage.
Had my first euro "idiosyncrasy" yesterday. Car threw stability control light at red light when car was off for stop start and wouldn't turn back on 😬 came back on after cycling ignition though and I still love my skoda 😅
Good list guys and will admit I wouldn't have picked the S1 as the first place holder for this list as I thought if it was going to appear it'd be around the 3rd place mark. If I had to pick 5 underrated cars for tuning they'd be; Hyundai Tiburon Volvo 200 series Suzuki Kizashi/Liana Daihatsu Charade Nissan Bluebird Massive congratulations guys on hitting 100k subscribers 👏.🤯🥳👍. You've earnt each and everyone one of them and should be proud of yourselves for hitting the milestone. Here's too seeing you hitting the gold play button next 😆😉👍.
C30 crew represent! Mods list: Drop the ride height, thicker rear sway bar, lighter wider wheels, bigger turbo, injectors, intercooler, ecu tune, brake upgrade, exhaust. But if you're on a budget, the sway bar, ecu spacer, good rubber, and some ferro carbon brake pads make a big difference.
Love the C30… by the way, some of your B roll showed the D4 (you also showed a 1.6D DRIVe which you can spot with the dinner plate wheels) and not the 5 pot turbo. (I’ve had two 5 pot Volvos. Still have one and LOVE the sound they make!) A mate of mine did up a Hyundai S Coupe/Tiburon and it was way more mental than his older car which was a Celica GT4. 😂
Great video and a great list, though some cars I'd like to add are the Turbo Subaru Liberty (not sure if they're underrated) and Audi's with a 1.8 T and 2.0 T engines, which you did mention in a previous video... Also, is there a review coming up on an E90 3 Series?
I've been watching your channel for months. I wanted a fun daily and track car. I just bought the Kia Proceed GT tech 1.6 Turbo 6 speed manual. YOU TOTALLY MISSED THIS EPIC KIA. I win. sry. thanks guys. great channel. edit: What?? you included it at 7 minutes in? LEGENDS. Turns out I was about 2 months ahead of your advice. At least we are in agreement.
Dunno if you get these over there but the nissan juke nismo rs is a hooligan. 1.6 turbo 218bhp 6 speed manual, they sit higher as they are a cross over type car but once they are dropped take my word they are a heap of fun.
I don't think you get them yet, but the Maverick 2.0T is quite tunable. Hard to be underrated when It's new, but not something you would expect to already be knocking on the door to 12 second quarter mile passes....
Well it definitely depends on what you want to tune. That volvo can be tuned for power figures, where kia only good for maybe new color and coilovers..
i m surprised that Nissan Tida of this generation is included in this underrated series, However i have 2 experiences with friends car where cvt just fall without any reason, and that's why Nissan unplugged this generation
Lots of delusion in regards to what real power gains are in regards to the Nissan, Kia and even the Volvo. Other than that excellent video and everything said is technically true and I subscribing
Congrats on the 100k. Well deserved. Stop promoting the MPS hand grenades, they were nice new, the fragile turbo, dual mass clutch and timing chain do not respond well to mods. The Proceed GT was a great choice. So unknown in Oz. PS No need for an F type review now, it’s too late for me.
from my experience a 6mps bottom end and transmission are tougher than a wrx (not sti) block and trans. it is way heavier tho and the awd system isn't as good
How the mr2 spyder isn’t on this list blows my mind. They’re owning tracks everywhere and nobody even thinks about them. They’re the best platform for a cheaper mid engine sports car that’ll out handle just about everything when modified plus when engine swapped there’s not many sports cars that’ll be able to keep up with its 2200lb weight.
Sorry guys but the reason all the other cars not mentioned that are more popular is because of the aftermarket and ease of tuneabilty! While all the cars mentioned are great cars in their own right they just don’t get the same bang for buck as the more popular cars.
1:01 when he says "nissan tida" I thought "nice a car that sells in Brazil" but then he said "1.6 turbo" but I remembered that the tida that came to Brazil came with a naturally aspirated 1.8. 🤡

Got a 2009 C30 T5, love it, turns heads and sounds like a baby viper/v10. get asked about it a fair bit

Any 5 pot Volvo or Ford XR5 Mondeo is also under the radar.
Thank you for giving me a boost in sprit. I'm glad to know my car has the potential to slay

Only problem with the Audi is the usual type of driver (& I'm using the term lightly) who chooses them. 🙄
Usual Audi drivers don’t buy cars like the S1. That’s probably why it didn’t sell well enough for another model.

I know a MPS 6 near my place but it's in Wagga and its condition is immaculate, come to Wagga Adam?
