This reveals that Ratt were actually great players and Stephen actually back in the day was a great rock singer. Pretty impressive, these guys were quite versatile
To this day, I find the RATT & Michael Schenker combo to be an odd one but a good one!! Proof that Steven's voice doesn't always sound like shit live. Love it!!!!!!
I truly believe DeMartini and Shenker had great chemistry as witnessed by the guitar duel they had on Born on the Bayou ! They would have made a great team for sure
Amazing performamce from '91 with special guests Michael Schenker & Fred Coury. Too bad Robbin was too sick to be at MTV on this day, but it still rocks.
We all know Michael can play classical. We know he rocks. But on Born on the Bayou he almost goes Country. His Flamenco is great too. I guess he did it just to do it. Love his classically tinged rock and roll the most. Melodies drip from his brain to his fingers. Thanks for the post Axe.
Michael Schenker and Ratt. Effin' classic. Early 90's Unplugged. All these cats were on top of their game here. John Fogerty was probably proud to hear this phenomenal rendition.
Yeah, this was MTV Unplugged. I actually missed the show mostly, turned it on as this song began and it ended the performance as the credits began to roll....
@@litahsr.8226 He always got bad press for his singing but I like his voice. I saw them live way back in the 1980's when they played at the Monsters of Rock festival at Donnington park. They were great but had a problem with the mic's cutting out for a bit.
Schenkers hittin' those" magic notes" they just stand out, a truly phenomenal guitar player. Warren DiMartini is also a very, very good guitarist, the whole band sounds great here, only wish there was more of this!
Hands down, this is the single BEST PERFORMANCE on MTV Unplugged, ever recorded. Even the first time, in 91, I Always Knew, Nothing would ever top it. That's still true.. Xo it never gets old. Xo Loooove this... ;-)
I'll go with one of the very best. I've not seen them all and besides, who can argue this? I agree that this is an awesome performance and sound and is great to see and hear the trade-offs between Michael Schenker and DeMartini both sounding fantastic as well as the whole band.
Stephen Pearcy sounds fantastic here. This is great. Nice to see Michael Schenker in for Robbin and both Blotz and Freddy playing drums. And of course Torch (Warren) and Juan. Thanks for sharing.
This is the best unplugged performance. Ratt playing "Oh Well" and mixing it into "Born on a Bayou" is totally classic. I saw Ratt last night at the Wiltern great show.
This is an older performance in the 90's. Over the years we haven't seen much quality live shows of Ratt. Many are horrible video cam or mostly garbage fan shot audio. This was cool at the time when MTV was about music.
Pearcy was also known to party too much. I feel recently he has been more focused, since the mixing alcohol and pain medicine. I like the footage from Australia when Bobby Blotzer,John Corabi and Warren DeMartini were in the band. I hope Ratt finally gets a good live DVD soon.
This extremely beautiful MTV unplugged performance was the sweetest dream of mine ....... It was my childhood fantasy if I could attend this unplugged gig in Los Angeles 1991! What great performance by ratt with schenker and Corey and obviously without sick king Crosby............... Love and respect from Pakistan by huge fan of ratt til the end................
Bobby Blotzer (drummer of RATT) played on M. Schenker's super band project called as Contraband (with Tracii Guns, Share Pedersen and a singer of Shark Island. I guess this collaboration came to life by this connection.
Don't forget also to mention Fred Coury of Cinderella played percusiion in this performance along with Stephen formed super grup called ARCADE featuring ex-Gypsy Rose guitarist Donny Siracuse and ex-Sea Hugs guitarist Frankie Wilsey
This was such a cool unplugged. I remember watching this back in the day and I brought this VHS tape to work and played it over and over again on a little portable TV and video player. Everyone at work was rocking out to this show for a couple of weeks. MS with Warren was a killer guitar show WOW Stephen sounds so good on these tracks. Robin was starting to get sick from his Heroin addiction at this point and it was such a shame cause this band had that Kick-ass attitude Rock and Roll style that is missing today. Rock On Glenn Augustyn
I only had the chance to hear this song on the actual airing of this particular airing of MTV Unplugged, and I only caught this song as it was the last performance of the show. Over the years I've looked for it off and on to no avail!!! FINALLY!!! Not sure how this one never showed up in my searches. Anyway, this is the best performance of Born on a Bayou I've ever heard and Ratt and Pearcy nailed it! I'm glad I can hear it once again! Thanks for the post!!!
Thanks AXE for re-posting this. I think Michael was at his most confident and most accomplished in the early 1990's. I saw him play this year in Virginia and Texas. I wish he would get back together with Robin McAuley, who is still singing at a high level.
Hey Axe you wont believe this , but I walked in on this show, half way through born , I actually thought this was ratts guitarist robin, i didnt know this was MS till I watched your vid. I remember thinking at the time, man hes really a good lead guitarist. Little did I know. thanks man, Ive been thinking for the past 20 years how good this was. Thanks. I tryed to start my vcr but something fucked up. later Bill
Michael Shekner covering a Peter Green song...Two of my favorites....This is amazing!!!!! Thanks Axe"...........Rockin this tune down here in New Orleans
Does anybody remembers when Ratt started playing in the old clubs in LA,Starwood was one of them, they used to play great covers,no Martini at that time the guitarist was this guy dressed in leather & they used to play Judas Priest & UFO covers alot, the next time I saw them Jake E. Lee was their new guitarist & he did a great cover of the studio version of UFO Rock Bottom, those were the days!
Killer performance! There's such a great chemistry between Michael and Warren, they played amazing on stage during the '91 Ratt tour.... By the way, Michael was incredibly handsome here, man he looks sooooo good , I would have fainted if I met him !!
oh my god i didnt know they made an unplugged concert!!!!. it sounds way good. now, these are truth musicians. one of the best unplugged i've heard. how's the singer called? he's got an amazing voice. he oughta be among the top singers.
WTF?! When did this happen?! Not only does Pearcy ACTUALLY SING ( WELL! ), but Schenker is on lead guitar!! It's great - why the hell did Atlantic not release this?!
AXEL KI This happened in the early 90s. Around the time Grunge was born. This performance like many were overshadowed by the grunge era. You can thank Nirvana, sound garden and other shit bands of the like.

thanx for keeping this uploaded Axe... Saw this one night on the tube , came home late from the bar seen , about 1988... tried to record it but couldnt find a blank tape..., its so funny I didnt even know this was MS at the time...Thought about how cool this was for the last 20 some Yrs..Awesome!
Fucking cool! I have been looking all over for this video and hoping VH1 classic would re-air it but..... Thanks for puting in on here. Wish they would put out a live DVD.
The most loveable and adorable thing in this universe is listening the RATT's music 🎵🎵🎶🎶🎵 omg 😱😱😱😳 what a beautiful unplugged performance by RATT,schenker and Corey! Holy moly
This fucking rocks!! I've never paid any attention to Ratt but I sure as hell will be checking out their back catalog now. A band from the same town and era as the original gunners lineup, what an era for balls out rock n roll.
lol yes a person has to ask how these guy's got together oh my Michael Schenker so much is possible in music see here an example prop's RATT .. never knew ya,i guess but damn glad to meet you
Cool stuff. I have been looking for this and waiting for VH1 classic to re-air it, but nope. Thanks Axeflyer. I wish these guy's would put out a live DVD and hire the engineers and producers that did Judas Priest Live in London. Bobby told me 2 yrs ago that they were gonna do a live DVD but nope.
Wow Schenker can really pick that acoustic. What a legendary player
I saw MSG unplugged after they released their third and best album.
This reveals that Ratt were actually great players and Stephen actually back in the day was a great rock singer.
Pretty impressive, these guys were quite versatile
Way better than Motley Crue. Ratt had way better songs and a bassist that could actually play bass
I love how whenever Schenker takes a lead Warren turns to watch his idol play.
💯💯💯 Great job on music🎸🎸 & Stephen Pearcy🎤.

Unbelievable performance that shows the versatility of the band. Schenker was a welcome addition as well. Long live Ratt and Roll!!
Sheinker was out of his element with Ratt he was just collecting a paycheck.

This has to be an unplugged. Steve singing the best i have ever heard him.
Ya he sounds terrific......my second favorite singer only followed by Layne staley.
Absolutely Melissa. Stephen is not always known for his pipes, but he's got great tone and delivery.
he did before now vocal is shot but damn didnt think he was that old 64 years (July 3, 1956)

Ratt got the vibe of Unplugged perfectly

Wow! Possibly the best RATT performance I've ever seen. Certainly prime Steve.
wtf...this is Michael Schenker.... the greatest guitarist of all time.......
Most definitely did this classic justice so well done
When he sounded like this, he had the coolest voice in rock. Not the best, the coolest (big difference)
