first time I heard this version I was feeling like crap depressed and suicidal, by the end of the song I was back to my normal self thanks Ratt and the Bayou. Rip R.C.
One of my favorite bands and normally live, Percy sounds terrible, but he sounds freaking GREAT here. He has the growl and roughness in his voice that he is known for but also keeps it under control. Really good here
Finally someone doing a CCR tune jusrice. I've always loved listening to Ratt ever since they came out. I just wish Steven even sounded a little bit like this today instead of the falling down drunk he's become.
First time I actually finish a _Born on the Bayou_ cover. I still think nobody will EVER perform it like CCR but this was worthy of hearing. Even if the singer throws in a redundant fourth _born on the bayou_ in the series, and even if I miss John Fogerty's trademark bAaAaAaAyou in the second one. But I love how the bass farts at 8:12 :)
It’s nice that they included the fat guy from the hair band Cinderella on the bongos. He probably had a lot of free time to join in since his own band’s producers wouldn’t let him in the studio to record.
This is a graduate level class in virtually unrehearsed jamming as you can tell by Warren & Michael watching to not step on each other. They probably ran through this once prior to taping and figured out who was doing what. First of Warren DiMartini was /is fascinating player. There is a ton of Schenkerisms in his playing but WD got lumped into being another Hair Band guy and he was so much more than that. His riffs and solo's are pieces of art and mini compositions within bigger pieces. In all honesty I think he had more musically to say then EVH. Obviously Eddie changed the sound but it became a one trick pony. Warren has something different to say in almost every solo. Overall there are about 5 guitarists that came out the LA scene who were massive talent but kind of got over shadowed...in no particular order: Warren, George Lynch, Jake E. Lee,Tracii Guns and Dave Meniketti of Y&T. These guys were all untouchable in different aspects. This Born On The Bayou video should be put into a time capsule and shown to future generations...no auto tune, no iPads, no IEMs, no tracks no pedal boards...just talent.
I just watched this performance, and it’s incredible! The musicianship is amazing, and I didn’t know that Ratt did an unplugged! Thanks for the upload! 🎸👍💕
Listen...Warren demartini...rips..smokes..shreds..and crushes nuts..at everything he does..acoustic..electic...chilling....that's all I got to say about........ (Forrest Gump)...😎
DeMartini was insanely talented, not sure every hair/metal guy would fall into that category. This was probably summer of '86, possibly '87. I did a search a few a years ago for this video and got nothing - great upload.
Love Warren. Funny thing about him is, if you hear him take a solo, its really not great. But, within the melody of songs, he is top notch. Love his melodic sense.
@@tomkenny5864 - Yes. Within a song. Ive seen him just take of and its not really that amazing. If you get where im coming from. One of my favorites is, The Morning After on Out of the Cellar, wow. Just brutal the way he comes in.
RATT really started rolling in 84 when I was 16 in highschool still one of my favorite bands of all time, Warren is a guitar god absolute LEGEND. MTV had a RATT problem they were all over MTV.. The good ole days, polar opposite of today's world. Peace.........
This is the only only live video I've ever found of Pearcy actually singing. Flawless. If only he had held back his sleazy hedonistic ways and invested in vocal lessons.
Where can we watch the whole Unplugged RATT session ?? I seen it when it aired but haven't been able to find the whole performance ? With all due respect to MS !! Robin (KING ) Crosby should have been in Rudolph's chair he was RATT period !!
Stephen "punk" Pearcy!!! . Stephen, and Josh "punk" Thompson once fought over the nickname "punk". Guess who won the fight? duh Josh Thompson was a pro MMA fighter, and a great one at that. ....... ..Josh messed up Stephen something fierce!
Robbin was ill then. His heroin habit had got the best of him. He had contracted HIV from a dirty needle(the story goes). He just never recovered. He battled the disease for years, and in Robbin Crosby form, he went out w/ a bang by shooting up an enormous amount of smack, and he overdosed. It's such a sad ending to a great life. Rest in peace big man!
stan yarbrough Just saw a video of Jake E Lee discussing how Ratt would have overtaken the world had it been him and Warren who were and still great friends to this day. Of course he went to Ozzy and Sharon dicked him out of his money then Ray Gillen of Badlands died and by that point he was burned out. Unfortunately I think Ratt's music went on a downward trajectory with Robbin's demise.
Charlie Edlund Great analysis Charlie. Can you imagine Warren and Jake as a duel threat. I loved "the big man's" contributions but Robbin was no Jake E Lee. Then again, as great of a guitarist/composer Jake was, I'm not sure he would have lasted long as a co-contributor. I think that's what happened to Vai in Whitesnake, two world class guitarists want to have a slate to create and not be confined. Jake was bad-ass as sole guitarist for anybody. but then contradicting myself, I guess Warren Demartini would have been as well. Interesting stuff Charlie. I like your thoughts on the subject dude.
Rcdolphin Stephen Pearcy is the living legend and legends never die... He is the singer of his own type 10000000% better than Vince Neil and fucking Brett Michaels
It was the best MTV unplugged
Nobody can touch this version. Excellent!!!
Except for CCR!
@@reach1898 If they played their MTV Unplugged. It would have been awesome.
I'm with you on this one.
Bullshit. CCR beats this version a ton.
3:00 it goes from hot to blazing. One of the best Unplugged sessions ever.
Stephen had one the coolest voices in rock history, shame he never took care of himself and practiced more.
I love seeing clips like this because it proves the hair metal guys could really play
Guitar God Michael Schenker was there, they still were great times for roll and roll on Mtv.
Schenker and DeMartini are killin' here. Love the answer/call thing they got goin' on. Incredible musicians, both of them.
This has been my favorite version for quite some time

So fucking great
Stephen Pearcy...and his "traveling minstrel show"...great rendition...great guitarists...

I'm not a Ratt fan, but they nailed this. Great cover.
Have you listened to early ratt
Stephens voice is like if rob Halford and dan mccaferty had a child.

I agree!!! "Bloody Fantastic" So many talented musicians and good looking men in the same room!!! I'm a happy woman!!!😀😄😁🥰😍🤩😘
Darn good review Ed. WD is a beast!
The beginning of the vid reminded me a lot of CCR's, _Keep on chooglin'._
His best vocal I have heard.
Met warren awhile back. Great guy.
Guitar god, absolute LEGEND
Never knew this existed, wow!
Same here. Fucking awesome
I just watched this performance, and it’s incredible! The musicianship is amazing, and I didn’t know that Ratt did an unplugged! Thanks for the upload! 🎸👍💕
It becomes clearer than ever that Stephen Pearcy was the precusor to Layne Staley.
Incredible! Truly impressive!
Thanks for uploading this... the first time I saw this loved it. Still do.
RATT kills! One of the best Hairmetal Bands! Nobody taped the whole show? So sad...

Love your comment! You are so right about Warren's DeMartini's guitar playing. He is magnificent!!!😉😘🤗
best cover ever,,,this was 91,,,bass line, drum cover,,John never close to this live,,,

That was great! Thank you for posting. Ratt N Roll!
what a voice!
Steven sound very good. Warren and Michael, what a fucking guitar duo. To bad it was only short lived. Juan not over acting. A great Ratt performance.
Warren Demartini is the no. 1 and the most talented guitarist I have ever listened. Beautiful performance by whole band

I didn't know Ratt did blues music?? Like I always associate them with classic hair metal so I'm surprised!
wow this was awesome

Best unplugged performance
this was in 1991 with Michael Schenker on rhytm guitar...

Nah man... This is their peak of the bands time... Pearcy was actually really good.. Time and abuse takes its toll
Oh well

For those of you that think Stephen Pearcy is a great singer...grow some ears! He sucks along with Vince Neal, Tom Keifer and Brett Michaels!
Rcdolphin Stephen Pearcy is the living legend and legends never die... He is the singer of his own type 10000000% better than Vince Neil and fucking Brett Michaels
Vince Neil never sang that good! We all have ears.
You have Vince Neil's McMuffins stuffed in YOUR ears.
Who gives a fuck. He's Rock 'n' Roll icon. Lennon was a horrible singer and leader of the Beatles
You want him to sound like Sinatra. You don't understand shit. He is perfect for the songs he's singing.
