- The UA Trumpet Ensemble performing the Overture to "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" by Gioachino Rossini, arranged by Justin Langham for consideration of the National Trumpet Competition 2019.
I'm not sure how this video stayed in the UA-cam algorithm to reach over 50k (edit, 150k now) views, but thank you all for your support and for the kind words! This recording was good enough for the UA ensemble to make it to the live rounds at NTC where we gave a more-polished performance to be proud of.
Playing all these harmonies by heart is an awesome show. Bravo~

I started on the Trumpet in 7th grade, but found I didn't have thin enough lips for it and couldn't get much above a high G. I switched to treble clef Baritone and had a much better go of it (until I found out it is extremely rare to find that instrument called for post college marching band). But my ear is still very attuned to brass and you guys did very good in this. I'm glad you were able to polish it up for the live rounds. I love your overall sound and your timing and dynamics with each other. Bravo!

Still hard NOT to think of Bugs Bunny & Elmer Fudd. Through their ‘ Merrie Melodie’s’ and ‘Looney Tunes’ brands, The Warner Brothers animation department did a commendable job in keeping classical music in public consciousness. Hats off to Chuck Jones and his fellow WB artists for a job well done.

Brava and bravo. I know that trumpets have different pitches, but this was quite the collection. One almost looked like a French Horn, n'est-ce pas?
I had a bad experience with the trumpet, since my music teacher liked a girl better than me so I didn't see a future in it. And so I neglected my music training for decades. But now playing the piano, I'm making up for lost time.

Good job. Nice blend. Now, if you can find some bass and contralto trumpets, you can really flesh out the the range. This 2¢ is just a suggestion to increase the reach of bass trumpets.

We've stayed in touch for the most part since going our separate ways! I ended up graduating with my doctorate and landing a teaching job, and several others in the group either recently finished grad school or are almost done.
