I'll bet that poor old Handyman jack could tell some stories. I'll bet that one is about 60 years old. My dad bought one just like that in 1964 when we moved to the farm
Give that handyman jack a soaking with that kroil or wd40. I’ve got a couple of those jacks and that’s all it takes to get them working again. Please turn those concrete blocks a quarter turn. It doesn’t take much to shatter one like that. Looks like you need a couple gallons of kroil and a garden sprayer to soak that whole machine down every couple days. Might as well spray down the 55 corn special. You know you’re going to have to get it going too.
Can you tell us about that 550 in details about the workings and repair procedures for the transmission,,, that would be amazing, thanks BigAl California.
One step closer to harvesting readiness. For the variety of rolling stock on your farm...hope you can find a donor for tires and rims. At least 16 inch rims will mount used pickup tires for initial mobility trials.
Spray the mechanism on that monkey jack with the Krapoil and it will work much more better. I spray mine with PB Blaster and even after sitting around outside they work. I did take one apart, polished the ramps, and stretched the pin springs a bit. A new roll pin and it works like it should. Paint that combine and it will make a great parade vehicle. Put seats in the grain head and haul pretty ladies. Now if you did like I did, I used the 39 JD A pulling a JD manure spreader in a parade with signs on the sides that said "Politicians Limousine" Get to feeling better.
Progress is Progress!! Looking forward to seeing it on the move. I'm sure you thought of it already, but maybe a little Kriol on the jack would help, lol. Mine was doing the same thing and a little lube was all it needed. It works better than when it was new, lol. See you soon.
Looks like I should have sent you a 1/2-20 tap too! My Dad and Uncle Dan had a 55 JD when I was young. 2 row corn-head, that never got put on. 13', I think, grain head. Uncle Dan thought he could do a better job running the head than the auto-height so he took it off. Yeah, should have left it on! If it were still here, I'd tear it apart and send it to China!
Tube guy Adventure made from scratch from Hutchinson Kansas scraps combines all the time. He just done two a cot months ago that was in good shape. He may know of machines for parts.
Ok now your talking , this handyer 550 is the tractor I have , so on this tractor, would I have to separate the engine from the transmission to fix ,,, throw out bearing I’m pretty sure it has went out of center balance, and it is vibration starts it at any rpm above idol, ok thanks BigAl California.
You better watch your face with that farmers Jack, if you don’t ,,it will take your face off and your teeth at the same time , lol thanks BigAl California.
Im going through the same thing I bought back a tractor i grew up on it was in rough shape so i had to buy a parts tractor because as you would put it had the transmission of sadness and it is a can’t afford something else CASE 😂😂😂😂
Great video Ross, one more step in the right direction. I'm not sure if you told in the other videos or not but do you have any idea of the year model of that combine?
No lube on the jack, then whine because it doesn't work right. Then you put the concrete blocks on their side instead of the with the holes vertical and then ponder the possibility of getting hurt or killed. WTF!!!!!🤬 I've fired people for less!
Good job bring out back to life. We had a 55.
Thanks! There was a ton of them out there at one time.
Ross just started watching you been watching alot of older vids have to say as an antique farmer still i am addicted
Ross, looks like another fine job 🤣🤣 thanks Michael
Little Kroil on the old Handy man. That was a good movie by the way Ross. Thanks for the video. I watch every day.

Those Handyman jacks will kill you if you’re not careful!
This project is by far the best Ross. Keep on rolling that beautiful combine footage

I'm sure you'll come up with wheels and tires that will work. You'll be riding around in it before you know it. Looking forward to watching.
Every time you use one of those jacks, oil it.

Progress is always good. Nice video Ross.

Cool bud
Humm a tap on a power tool , I probably not try this but I will in the future 😢. From turkey creek farms be safe n thankful
Needed a can of brake cleaner per side to finish cleaning the hubs.
you should get the other one running too
We have a combine axle that looks right like that flying around. We needed some wheels and the axle with wheels sold for cheaper then just wheels 😂

Another good day of work, I'm hoping that the hydraulic cylinder will break the spindles loose.

Combine is a special kind of sadness
Im going through the same thing I bought back a tractor i grew up on it was in rough shape so i had to buy a parts tractor because as you would put it had the transmission of sadness and it is a can’t afford something else CASE 😂😂😂😂
that will look like a different machine when you both rear tires a wheels
Progress.

Sure.SEE
Well Ross, if nothing else you succeeded in generating the comments today!! Lol 😂😂
👍
👍👍👍
Yes it would be smart..... but...... we couldnt do that ross
Put some oil on that jack
Use air Jack air compressor
I don't trust those handyman jack's or Jeep Jack's as they're called here
Ross i have a pair of 18 inch wheels minus tires you are welcome to have
turn cemet block holes up
Good advice.
for max strength
