    This is so real - I just love this. Been to hell and back with eating disorders, compulsive exercise, depression, etc... I turn 28 in a few days and don't want to take it with me anymore. I have recovered before, I can do it again. Thanks for this fantastic inspiration. xxx

    your last words made me feel special for going through recovery. Yes lets be amazing, and we have so many more km/miles to run/ride ... healthy miles. But now we can enjoy time and rest.
    I havent run for 5 days now, and i feel amazing, without a huge burdain. Now i see how tired my body is. I am reading a book and i feel special. I feel happy that my body will recover. I believe hard times will come, especially as everyone else around me do a lot of sport. But for now i can have break, first after years of training, i genuely have an off season :D

    I just found your channel and so thankful. I actually was at the doctor today because I haven't had my period in almost two years and they told me I most likely have hypothalamic amenorrhea. I don't run but cycle a ton and do heavy weight lifting/Olympic style lifts usually 5 days a week. I am by no means skinny (5'5" and 150 lbs) so when they said that, I was like wait I'm not at a low body fat or starving myself, but this did help! so thank you!

      Hello Gabrielle!! Yes! What you describe is common, but no one talks about it. If you are eating lower carb-style, you may find that eating more carbohydrates will "turn things on" again for you. Let me know how you are progressing!! Email me acaseofthejills@gmail.com :)

    Thank you Jill!!!!! Going through this now and it’s so hard, but I know that the only reason it IS hard is because of my silly perception of it!! I just want to be one of those people who loves themselves soooo much! 🙌🏼 That’s what I’m inviting in 🙏🏼 Thanks so much for sharing!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

      I love your enthusiasm! Sometimes it's ok to not be in love...we can be in "like" or "deep appreciation" too! Or even better...we can love ourselves and not have our body shape/size factor into that at all! You're right...perception is important!

    Yes. Yes. Yes! This was absolutely incredible and just what I needed to watch. Right now! I can't thank you enough for sharing this, because these thoughts and experiences pretty much parallel my hypothalamic amenorrhea journey. I had no period for 6 years (from the age of 16 - 22), got my crap together eventually and got 2 periods in a row a few months ago. I was in a pretty decent mind state, then had a stressful situation (in addition to marathon training) which set me back and all those messed up, untruthful, stupid thoughts and perceptions can flooding back. Now i'm back at stage one. I'm probably going to watch this like ten million times. Thank you so much, I have a lot of admiration for these videos. You are such a strong, powerful, unstoppable lady.

      I am so, so happy for your comments! And thank you for the kind words! I know I felt so alone when I was going through it. I was so confused... Thank you for sharing your experience! The more we talk about it, the better we will be at understanding, fighting back, running strong FOREVER. Keep taking care of you! It's not easy, but neither is running a marathon...step by step, you can do it!!! I'm here if you need me

    I have recently been watching your videos and want to say thank you. I started my journey in getting my period back three weeks ago and am finally noticing the weight gain. It is a big mental battle but so freeing at the same time. Thank you for being a light and speaking the truth because it's easy to feel alone in this journey. Thank you for being vulnerable because although it's hard, it IS a beautiful thing finding yourself again and that deserves celebration. I appreciate you!!

      That’s so sweet of you!! I’m sorry I’m asking a lot, but do you think you got it because you gained the weight? Maybe I still need to gain more and that will solve it. Thanks a lot!!❤️

      @lindsihamel6302 4 роки тому

      @@narimansayed9168 I do! I don't think the birth control I was on was helping my case either, so I got off that as well. Every womens body sits at a sweet spot where it trusts you. When we aren't giving it enough fats, carbs, proteins, it won't trust you. So I just started eating, not limiting myself or depriving myself at all! It's hard and a mental battle when you're scared to gain weight but know it's for the good of your body in the long run. I started eating more and exercising less (because excess exercise is stress on the body). I would just go on long walks and that's all until I got my period back. A lot of relaxation helps as well.
      What have you been doing currently to try and get it back?

    Hi Jill. Just wanted to thank you for your raw honesty and encouragement. I've had HA for five years and have finally made the decision to cut the crap, give my body a break and feed it. I'm only three weeks in, but it's been a huge shift in mindset. So thankful to have found your videos, which are reminding me that this is about so much more than getting my period back. I imagine I'll be a much different (re: better) person on the other side of this. But man, it's a tough journey so far. Thank you for what you're doing!

    This is amazing you are so inspiring!
    I'm currently trying to get my period back and I love watching your videos, they remind me why I'm doing this and that my physical AND mental health far outweigh (excuse the pun) anything that was so important to me (being really thin- constantly restricting and exercising) !
    And although weight gain is something I'm finding difficult to cope with, I know it is necessary to be completely happy with who I am regardless of what I look like, whilst achieving both mental and physical health :) X

    • @jillcolangelopsych
      @jillcolangelopsych  7 років тому +1

      Hello Ruby, YES! You seem to be on the right track! It's so important to remember the reason why you are gaining weight is actually to get to the normal/happy place where your body WANTS to be. Just because we took our bodies to an unnatural place (and kind of liked what we saw) it doesn't mean that's where we need to be. Good luck to you and keep in touch!! XO

    Hi,
    After watching your videos I have after 8 years of no period current age 31 decided to go “all in”
    And kick my exercise addiction in order to recover from HA. The problem for me is I’m already BMI 23.6 I’m lean and muscular body fat 19% my point to this is I’ve gained weight in the past 5 years. It’s taken me ages and I’ve gained little as I go by eating more gradually. I was BMI of 17 :(
    Even though my BMI is now fertility friendly I still have no period. The ONLY thing I’ve never stopped is my training. In fact I got worse the bigger I got training more 2-3 hours intense a day!
    I’m 10 days no exercise for the first time in 8 years. Do you think it’s possible the exercise is what is stopping me getting a period? Do I need to eat more even though I’m a healthy weight? I would appreciate your advice.
    Currently reading no period now what? Very good book thank you for recommending this.
    I lost my little girl aged 21 and this is what has triggered my original eating disorder and my constant need to move and burn as many calories as possible...I am still struggling to think of gaining more weight as to me even though I’m lean I am not skinny or thin just athletic and petrified of getting even bigger not exercising.
    Em’s x

    Thank you so much for this video! I have a question, it's been now 7 months not having my period anymore, when all of a sudden, circa two weeks ago (probably this happened in a moment where I finally decided to cut and stop the diet I was on for the past seven months aka the reason why I'm in this position now) I started to get very bloated and gain weight so fast (like 3 kgs in a week).
    As I'm slowly accepting the weight gain, does this bloated stomach go away as soon as the period gets back?
    Sometimes it gets very uncomfortable and I can feel an edema going on in my legs as well.
    Have a great day :)

    I know that this is a really superficial question, but how much weight did you gain in the process? If you don't want to name a concrete number, could you please give a range (e.g., 5-10 extra pounds / 1-2-3 sizes up)? Because I have been inspired by you to try and get better, however, there will be a lot more than 1 pair of jeans needed if I get much heavier :) All of my clothes are literally the smallest possible size and I am starting to feel very uncomfortable in them already...
