I'm in my 40's but I've worked in healthcare (physical therapy) for years and spent a lot of time with older patients. It amazes me how sometimes someone in their 50's can look older than someone else who is in their 70's. I think these are great tips and I'd like to add a couple ideas based on my observations.
The first one is exercise. I don't mean that you need to go to the gym and workout, but doing some form of gentle exercise on a regular basis will make you younger - inside and out! One of my youngest looking older patients was a gal in her 70's who went for walks everyday with her husband. Every evening, they'd spend about 20 minutes going for a leisurely walk around the neighborhood. Some gentle yoga is also a great idea (just don't overdo it!). I don't mean handstands and really difficult yoga positions, but just gentle stretches paired with yoga breathing techniques can improve your cardiovascular health and actually change your brainwaves to make you feel more relaxed and peaceful. Meditation might also be helpful.
Second thing is attitude! Of course we all have bad days and it's important to make room for those negative feelings sometimes, but keeping your thoughts positive most of the time and not getting stuck in negative ways of thinking is crucial. I've seen it many, many times. People who are always thinking negatively look old & tired while people who are keeping positive, thinking constructively, and feeling love look young. Spending time with people who make you happy can be an important part of this, too.
Thank you for this wonderful channel. It's been helping *me* to keep thinking positively about my life. ❤

You are so right ! My parents lived into their mid 90's, and people thought they were in their 70's.
They were so positive, funny and loved people.. They gave their time , love, and money to help the less fortunate. You don't have to be wealthy to give to others.
They always looked for the humor in life. They were both educators and professed lifelong learning .
Thank you for sharing those vital points. Attitude and outlook are
essential for good physical and mental health. Those people will look radiant, no matter what.

I have by watching you been encouraged to wear scarves and accessories more, and they do make such a big difference to an outfit. I like to keep my clothes for many years and wear them if they still fit. I shop sometimes at the thrift stores and have gotten some great clothing and jewellery bargains. I like the vintage fashions best. I wear just a little bit of make up as never really liked it on my skin, and worry about the chemicals in these products of course it is hard to get 100% pure natural make up..I know an elderly lady who used to use beetroot juice as a blush and mix it with lanolin for her lips. It is amazing when we find things like this that are harmless to skin. Cheers and thank you for your encouragement from Annie Stuart.

enjoyed this so much ! i still wear and love makeup, at 92. i was once a mary kay lady, and agree with all your ideas about using makeup. i was a redhead, am now gray, and want my hair to be as light as it can be. so, about every two weeks, i spray it with peroxide, let it dry, and shampoo the next morning. very old-fashioned, but subtle and inexpensive. love your hair ! hate to see older women with masculine-looking, super short haircuts. thank you so much for your videos, i'm a big fan !

I'm also a redhead. I hope you don't mind my commenting. Good for you at Youtubing at 92 (now 93)! Redheads don't go gray, they go white. I wonder if what you are seeing are white mixed with the faded red hair so it's an ashy look. I'm in my early 50's and I'm using henna to keep my hair the natural red shade it used to be (still) :) but I did not know the peroxide trick! There is also a rinse from Fanci-Full Ultra White Minx, that takes out any yellowing (it rinses out). It's almost like a bluing. I used it when I put in blonde streaks to make it look white. It is messy though. Agree on the masuline appearance. Enjoy!

Sandra, my wife just found your channel. Her husband was a schizophrenic who was found dead in an abandoned RV this past Spring. Your video healed her heart and helped in ways you will never know. Just putting yourself out there and sharing that helped one woman who struggled with children and the same situation. The fear she had of him, the guilt she had to feel free even though he met his end in a horrible way. Not many people can understand the love one can have for a spouse with that illness. They love who they met, not who they became. Thankful for you today.

What ever I went through along with my children, has made each of us stronger and mire compassionate for others’ suffering.,I will never lose the love for the man that I met and married, but the person who was murdered became someone I didn’t know. Thank you again for sharing and I am so happy that perhaps I was able to help your wife know that she is not alone in her prior situation.❤️

@@lifewithsandrahart I agree..... wigs changed my life. To cover my thinning hair I used to wear hats... but they do not look OK to wear indoors.... then I discovered wigs..... instant reduction of my age by ten years... even fooled my doctor. I'm also lucky I do not have high blood pressure. Just the fact I'm looking 10 years younger provides a spring in my step! Also minimal make up (e.g. no more eye liner) but I need pink on my cheeks and a little highlighter otherwise I would look unwell!

Excellent video Sandra. Two things: UPDATE your hairstyle and FRUMP IS NOT A STYLE! I was doing some errands this morning and there were many seniors out and about. Every woman over 60 had the same hairstyle: short, grey, and pixie! I encountered at least 20 women with that hairstyle. Change stylists if that is all they will do with your hair. Baggy slacks is another aging thing. Clothes that fit properly are youthful.

You make me feel relaxed about trying your tips, not worried or anxious or pressured. Thank you so much. Lately I have tried having a huge salad of celery, cucumber, apple and parsley with lemon juice or balsamic and a little olive oil two days a week (Mondays and Thursday suit me) and eat only that and nothing else on those days, and have been astonished at how bright and energised I feel at the end of the day, which carries over into the next day too. I am 78 and throughout this strange year have slowed down and become rather down, but you have lifted me up so much, and now the salad days are helping too!

But there are things I can still do. My sister is dying of cancer and alzheimer's. I went to see her yesterday. I kept the upbeat and silly mask on for her,I also brought All of of her happiest songs from her happiest years. She really reacted to the music. I moved in with my daughter and hubs a year and a half ago. I was messing up my meds. I was failing mentally since my husband passed in 2013. I have 3 adult kids. But I moved far away and have no friends here and I go back to my hometown quite often for wakes/ funeral s. . I am trying to connect thru the senior ctr. This covid situation has that place all messed.up. I enjoyed your video and will watch for more. I’ve never had an issue with getting older. I don’t wear make up, I’ve never worn very much make up even when I was young, and I don’t usually exercise that much. I feel I get plenty of exercise taking care of my garden, my animals and my house. But I do love to go camping with my family. We went winter camping awhile back and absolutely enjoyed every minute! Long walks in the forest, almost got lost, (lol) a big campfire, wonderful food, but the most important was spending time with my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. So much fun! That’s my secret for staying young!

Barbara if you were doing all that work in your garden and taking care of your animals and house, you are getting exercise. I do the same thing and I put that in my exercise bucket each day. I would love to go camping. I have never been able to have that experience, but I do have friends that go camping and it seems like it’s so much fun. Thank you so much for sharing that with us. Several years ago I told myself I will have my hair be whatever color is really under there by the time I'm 60! ;) Guess what! I turned 60 late March of 2021 and last week during spring break I got a hair cut that took off the very last of the colored hair. My co-workers have noticed the cut and one person told me "You know, there are a lot of ladies that would pay good money to have your hair color! It is a beautiful shade of grey around your face and it looks like you have highlights!" Wow! I am tickled!! I'm also thrilled to have found your channel and I am old enough to join in!! Your eyes are so powerful and twinkle along with who you are. I’m curious if you listen to healing frequencies? I’m healing myself with healing frequencies and went from unconscious to conscious and my laundry list of health issues are disappearing, I feel younger and alive. UA-cam recommended this video and my mum found it interesting. It's good you're knowledgeable with skin topicals. I use Adapalene 0.1% which is a prescription strength retinoid for acne, but also improves the skin. If you're gonna use retinols in the daytime, I recommend you choose dull days and nights as I ended up with a deep tan in summer from Adapalene with SPF 30 sunscreen as 50% can still get through.

Good morning, Elle. I missed you this week. I don’t think people realize that a little bit of sun is good for you so that we can absorb vitamin D. We lather ourselves up with sunscreen to protect yourself from the ravages of the sun but it really is important to at least get 20 minutes of sun every day on our bare skin.
Happy Thanksgiving to both of you and I hope you have a wonderful rest of the week ahead. I hope I’ll see you again next Tuesday? My warmest thoughts are with you. ❤️

Good morning Sandra! A friend gave me a tip that has come thru for me time and time again. When making a new purchase I usually head to an Ulta store. I stand back and watch all the sales people working cosmetics and head to an older staffer. I find younger staffers tend to sell by latest color and trends. I praise this older salesperson on their skin, makeup and apparent use of age appropriate cosmetics formulated for skin as we are beginning to age. Works every time! The salesperson is flattered and usually quite interested in helping me with the right products for areas to target and those I'm wanting to enhance. They aren't making a fortune and are usually attuned to the fact a person might need to purchase with a limited budget in mind. I've had them tell me to start with certain products and purchase others as budget allows. Hope this might be helpful......

Hi Sandra, you are beautiful, inside and out. You have a wealth of great information, too.I am a retired stylist., am 74. I do my best on keeping dress and jewelry simple. I do wear shorts a lot, since it is so hot here in Fl. Do wear Capri pants or appropriate shorts when going out. Always try to look my best without being overdone. I also keep my makeup simple and not overdone. Hair grew past my shoulders and decided it was no longer becoming on me. Went shorter, so much better. Love listening to all your wonderful information. Stay well.🙋‍♀️Patti

Patti, thank you so much for being a part of his community and I really enjoyed reading how you feel about what you wear and deciding on a shorter hair style. I have found a living in Florida that I have changed how I dress completely. I am attracted to color more than I was when I lived in the north.❤️

Hey pretty lady! Five excellent tips for us. My hair is black and white no more dying my hair. The lipstick colors you can wear are amazing.😊 To a real beauty!!!! Take care and stay safe. Wanda

Wanda, how lucky you are. I have always love the black and white hair when it’s natural. Wow! You really are able to wear a variety of smashing lipsticks. Reds probably look great on you. ❤️
