    Great video, hit a sensitive spot. Years of being hit with technological junk via the machine that is consumerism has made me appreciate something so simple as a video about axes, featuring axeman himself.

    Raised in NW Montana and learned to split wood at a very young age and my favorite axe for that chore and everything else was a cruiser. I could reduce 3 foot buckskin Tamarac rounds to kindling in no time at all by the time I was 10 yo. Chore is a poor choice of words for I loved every minute of it.

    An old friend Mr. Lee D. from Michigan had one of the first farms in the state. He once showed me an old axe that he said brought by his family over on the Mayflower. To substantiate his claim, he further stated the axe had three new heads and seven new handles, but was otherwise the real thing!

    • @blademan6075
      @blademan6075 5 років тому +1

      Martin Camp I have the original first axe ever made! Of course it is made from stone for the head and the handle from the tusk of a wooly mammoth.
      It’s been upgraded very much the same way as that gentleman’s Mayflower axe but very much original components.

      I don't know which is worse, not having a dad at least you can imagine how great your dad would be if you had one or having one that nulls into being no better or worse than not having one. This guy looks like the one in a hundred that would be a great dad so don't feel bad there's way more unfit dads and downright bad ones that come short on all their basic duties. The ones that are there but ignore and don't value their son are as bad as the absent ones who at least may have valid excuses.
      Still i guess it's better to be able to put a face on a negative dad than nothing at all but i am not sure of that.

    11:14 to 11:28 I preach that in punching, I always tell people hit correctly, hit accurately and then the speed and power will come, don't try to throw a wild punch all fat and hard you will hurt your hand and or wrist or miss but if you get good at hitting right, then on target you will then be able to do the same faster and harder over time, hearing this guy apply a similar logic to the axe excited me, I can feel him between 11:14 and 11:28

    00:50 This myth of the poll only on american axes gets on my nerves.
    Look here and see of battle axes of the times, even from the bronze axe with a balance weight shaped as a hammer!
    commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Battle_axes?uselang=en
    If europeans knew since the Bronze age of the use of the poll and its balance in battle axes, hammers, or axes (all used since the stoneage! The hole in the stone was in the middle, so it had a nice balance) why do americans say then that it was only invented by a smith in america in 1750?
    Look at history books, the world existed before the rediscovery of america!
