You can't see his face clear enough to tell if it's The Ben Collins, you're just guessing/hoping. Of course, you could still be correct and that's why they're not showing us the driver. He's a great driver and he would certainly be the popular choice, I certainly hope that it's him.

As I understand it, the reason why we had The American in season 1 instead of a Stig copycat is because Amazon didn't want to get into a legal battle with the BBC. I doubt that situation has changed since then, so I doubt we'll see another nameless, faceless driver like the Stig.
I love how they do all of this, it really does help build the hype!

Whenever I see Grand Tour commenting on YT I imagine James typing it and while he is typing I hear him say it to(with a wierd face , if you get what I mean) it might as well be the production team or is it🤔?!!!!
Hammond's enthusiasem is priceless like Jameses grumpiness and Jeremy's stupidity in concepts/scenarios like this one. In car rewiews Jeremy is brilliant, a genius; James is elegant, subtle, dow-to-earth and Hammond is again childlishly enthusiastic, with skills of a good salesman and a daredevil driver. This are a few of the things that make them the holy trinity in car journalism.

I get why people want The Stig but this show needs to move away from old Top Gear, not take things from it. To have The Stig would be a bad move IMO and show that they haven't really gotten away from TG. The closest we can hope for is that they've got The Ben Collins.

The Fucking News Hey, don't blame it all on us. American Top Gear tried the scripted, forced comedy and it failed miserably.

Stunt driver + old car, where could that possibly go? The giggle was predictable, it's a bit off-putting how everything is so overly-staged in The Grand Tour. Top Gear with these three was so good and became so popular because in the early series their tests and challenges started taking a more humourous turn, they were like a group of lads just having fun irreverently, their films felt genuine, unpredictable, surprising, fun. All toped off by that masterpiece Bolivia Special in which everything just seemed so ambitious and real, three plucky brits unwaveringly dragging themselves along in three piles of scrap in some of the most hostile environments in the world...
agree, why the hell very few are noticing this? the grand tour is very predictable, very scripted and boring.
+Georg People are noticing it, they just don't care because it's still these guys on on The Grand Tour. To be fair, the last couple of seasons of the trio's Top Gear were also very staged and scripted (with exceptions for the specials), just like TGT's first season, yet they were all still great shows.
To be fair, a lot of Top Gear was staged as well and I don't feel like it takes anything away from the experience. Yes, sometimes it can be predictable unfortunately but think of them as jokes. You know the comedian has already prepared jokes to make you laugh but his delivery and sense of humor can still make you laugh.
Fair points. All of them. I may also add that whenever Top Gear had any sort of challenges, we always knew that they were staged. There were a lot of incidences in which it was clear that one person was set-up to be the winner. Like in the opening of the 22nd season (in Russia). There were several moments where the situations were quite contrived and humour was just quite forced. However, I still watched every episode of almost every season at least 3-4 times each. And each time I watched it I still celebrated as if watching it for the first time. My point is that TGT is not a perfect show. But the second season is looking incredibly funnier than the first so they're improving. Unfortunately, no matter how much each of us may want it, we will never again revisit that old Top Gear besides perhaps in reruns. But these guys are trying their God damn hardest. I think we should appreciate that.
I think the issue is that when Top Gear morphed into being more scripted, in a way it worked because it was meant to be a serious show from the beginning. When it became ridiculous, it had another layer of humour which was just the shock of seeing how far off the rails it could go. TGT was ridiculous and scripted from the get go so it lacked that same 'oh my god what now' feeling we got when watching TG. The reason these 3 presenters work so well together is that they've known each other for so long and they know how to push each others buttons and make each other laugh, but we got pretty much none of that in TGT. It's good to see that they are listening to their fans on a few aspects for series 2, though. We'll just have to hope that the ones that want the old humour back aren't in the minority.

ACHSO! DasLebenRenntAnEuchVorbei You NOT hating on this cars, and i'm just saying that French cars are 100% unreliable as hell. They tend to break down every 1-2 months. Older French cars are better, while current are not.
Thorbjørn Madsen my mom drives a normal one. So not the RS but STILL the same generation and same problems. And it's NOT that bad. I really like it. At one day... I will have a Clio R27, a Honda CRX at one time👌🏻so please don't say so much bad things about this generation of the Clio. Maybe others have some serious problems. But this is actually a good everyday car
