Man that was so weird. 1st game seemed REALLY familiar. I'm the Alaska B that tried to push him. I clearly remember resigning myself when his full health Alaska teammate popped out of seemingly nowhere lol.
Potato makes every ship seem enjoyable, his line; "the alaska's AP gets better in closer ranges and the improved PEN angles make it less effective to angle against it" made me excited for the kind of playstyle he brings to the game. I do think he is the best WOWS caster due to his direct and level approach with little frills to his channel. Has an excellent laugh as well.
Having played nearly 1000 games in Alaska, I would say drop survivability expert and top grade gunner, they feel wasted on the Alaska. I would take demo expert, consumables enhancement and heavy AP instead.
@@RobbertLobik not sure how to answer that one. PQ knows his stuff for sure, I personally play a little more aggressive and a little more mobile (although the Alaska loves a bit of Island hugging as shown). the HE is better than you think so I also change up ammo types a lot more than PQ does.
I got 7 citadel hits in one salvo yesterday in my Baltimore. That has NEVER happened before. I sat there stunned for about 30 seconds when it came up on my screen. It was long range too. Almost at my maximum range for the Baltimore. RNG is bonkers in this game.
PQ: "This Benson smoke is... very interesting". Man, your tone was almost lewd there ;) Great show of how to play the Alaska. I dont play it as often as I did but I know that I learned a lot in that ship.
I should have watched the live stream, but did you think of possibly using Heavy AP, and then either last stand or priority fire indicator? the heavy AP would be free extra damage.
Still my fave boat in the game. High skill floor with it, but as long as you don't get completely fucked by the matchmaker, the potential to dominate a match with it is high.
Good video! I want to get the Alaska but will wait another year. Great ship but I’m having a good time going up the US LIGHT cruiser line and just got the Iowa, so wanting work towards the Montana.
Been tempted to grab the Alaska but it seems like it is just a Puerto Rico with one less turret (and I already have the Rico.) Any of you have both and have any comparative info?
I usually swap out top grade gunner and put the last 4 points into Demolition Expert and consumable duration for extra radar uptime. I find myself burning alot of ships more. I might swap back to Top grade gunner for the extra reload time. Its got a pretty good fire chance already without DE or flags. I might even go one step further and put 2 points in consumable duration and 2 points into AA. Alaska's AA is pretty good.
Just Curious, i have the congresss so would it be worth all the dubs to get the Alaska B, I mean I've always wanted it but I'm not sure it is worth all those dubs.
I'm not a big fan of the Alaska. This ships is bigger than Scharnhorst while it can be overmatched by almost any BB at her tier. It's surprisingly tanky when flat broadside for some reason, but eats massive dmg when bow in. Dispersion can also troll quite often. The weirdest thing for me though, is, that when playing Alaska the entire enemy team suddenly seems to drop everything and tries to kill you. Like you're the main part and your team is an optional DLC. The focus fire is just insane.
It sucks its usually against T10 and it is weak as against them, in an ideal world when its top tier maybe, which means 2 years ago, when everyone liked it, its trash feel sorry for anyone wasting dubs on this
I've got a question. How do you play Cruisers (for example, a Cleveland) on a mostly open map whilst bottom tier? Everything just seems to shoot at me and I just don't have the range.
You go in undetected, turn into kiting position and run until you leave your maximum firing range. Otherwise, you can go to B cap and erase the DD first.
@UC2NfmdjwFknx9g0xG5TydSg Firstly, while the WR is impressive, 72k damage isn’t much for a Cleveland. Also, you’re cherrypicking. You get both T6 and T10 games. Lastly, if you die getting to B, that’s completely a skill issue.
Really want this ship just really really don't want to drop 60+ on another ship after getting the Massachusetts B and i already have a congress so id just be buying a T9 version with more guns per turret
Spotted is someone who has visual info on you (or proxy detected) and your position is exactly known. Located is someone running RPF as a captain skill. He gets an indication of your direction within a 15 degree arc. He has to guess your range from things like islands, other spotted ships and caps. A good DD driver will pretty much use it like a basic radar which never runs out, and will know very accurately where you are. Get ready for torps inbound. RPF allows you to play very aggressively as a dd with high levels of safety.
I would love for the American Super BB to be a hybrid Alaska/Iowa. Keep the Iowa 406's, give it radar and Massachusetts secondaries, Alaska maneuverability. That sounds like a lot of fun to play, would not be overpowered. Hugely different from the massive, sluggish monsters we have as superships. Basically give the Iowa the Jean Bart treatment. I want a supership BB that can make the kind of plays you were demonstrating in this match.
Survivability expert on a battlecruisers is a positive answer to "do you like being on fire?". It increase your fire tick damage because it is based on maximum HP percentage=HP increased=Fire damage increased.
Maybe good in its day, but in todays game its regularly, more often than not, against T10 and superships, and it sucks hard against them, Salem and DM eat this for breakfast. GL to anyone buying this its days have gone and its lower average at best, despite all the praise you hear, this is from old timers who basically never play it now, when's the last stream you seen PQ play this? Or other streamers? Basically never, Dont waste your money.
I was considering to get an Alaska B, but since I got the upgrade, the Puerto Rico, I'm not sure if I should pay for a weaker T9 version of it, with only 9 guns.
Other way around - why one should pay for extra turret "compensated" by slower reload and worse main gun dispersion at tier higher. That said, superships are bigger concern when it comes to picking tier 9 premiums.
Alaska is actually an upgrade over Puerto Rico imo. It’s more maneuverable, the guns are more consistent, it doesn’t deal with superships as much, and it has better concealment. But I agree, if you have PR there’s no point spending that much to get Alaska.
@@reggiewallace6453 I cant compare both unless I would get the Alaska, but the PR is pretty tanky and agile withe steering mod and deals more damage (140k/290k dpm) than the Alaska could (116k/240k) in HE/AP

I believe the majority of players would agree that the Alaska is a "better" ship. Too expensive though. Although I would probably buy it if I hadn't already bought the Massachusetts.
Wish i had Alaska... it was removed when i was up to 950k free exp, and now with black friday stuff i got only Napoli B. Alaska is the only ship that i want in whole game, but doubt ill ever get it now.
the only ship you want? you're trolling this thing is good for fk all, it gets smashed most games, unless rock camping doing nothing of use, buy salem or grind DM they eat this thing 100% of the time
One thing I find a little frustrating about some of your play is that you're almost ALWAYS going to be the best player on your team but you don't seem too interested in preserving yourself. Putting yourself in positions where a whole bunch of the enemy, REGARDLESS of their skills, get to pummel you for free strikes me as a "questionable" decision to put it politely. If you could count on tier 9 players having a clue, not going on excursions around the map edge instead of going for and holding cap zones, moving to share some damage and the like (i.e. be competent players) then you MIGHT be able to do it. But you CAN'T count on that. So getting yourself smashed to half your health relatively early on could significantly reduce your chances of winning IMO. But, hey, that's just my take. It's also true you're a great player and a better judge, and that sometimes attracting the enemy can shield your lesser players. Tough call, really. Then again, the collection of clulessness that was your first 'team' means it was unlikely it mattered what you did. When WG pushed up exp earning rates to a ridiculous extent so grossly inexperienced people end up at high tier, those sorts of brainless plays became increasingly common. You can reach a tier 10 from tier 1 in about as many battles as it USED to take to get from tiers 8 or 9 to 10, depending on flags etc. The consequences of that are inevitable. Not that WG has ever given a fk about game play QUALITY. Cheers
I am annoyed with B version of ships , yup is great chance to get rare ships like Jean Bart , Smolensk or Massachussets , in 3 years I have won from crates (bundle patch) Assashio B , Mainz B & Dunkerque B I was very happy with that as every ship is good , but today I have won from free crate regular Dunkerque = I have 2 same ships , is just scammy of WG that they made few version of same ship then sell it as different ship , in my opinion in you have regular or B version of ship that is same one , second copy should appear in your port ! , as is same ship ! o7

The aiming system is based on reality and playing as it should. In real battle if a ship is sailing broadside and you shoot anticipating the ship will continue that course you'll hit them but if they change course like turn out the shells will fall short.

There are still people playing this game who are pretty good at BBs because they started on them, but cant play DDs or cruisers at all, so someone not being good at CVs doesnt surprise me, when there are players who cant even play another type of surface ship they consistently play against on a regular basis.
