Thank you bro , struggled to get my low melt solder to mix with the factory stuff its 60/40 , melted a connector first time ,need some better soldering tips and iron probably , mines only cheap and they burn out / delaminate quickly . I will have another go soon !
That little diode has me worried af lmao. It was generally just the liquid metal but now.. omg lol
Very helpful… now hopefully I haven’t already botched the job too bad to fix in my next attempt lol
Thank you, I am doing my first one in the coming days.
Good luck!
I soldered a few times as like a child in the 90s with the help of my uncle. But i watched this video, generated a list of the tools used, and i plan on replacing my HDMI port. On a scale of 1-Who The Heck Do You Think You Are? What do you guys think??
What magnification is best for this?
Can i reuse the old capacitor whitout buying ti?
I followed your video but I just cant take off the HDMI port, I tried lots of heat, higher soldering temps, solder, flux, it just doesn't want to come off, do you have any advice?
Make sure you have added enough leaded solder to the pads and the legs of the old HDMI port, heat from the rear and top of the motherboard, and try removing the nozle from your heat gun
What tools do you recommend to use to complete this whole process?
Hot air station, soldering station, is crucial then we got microscope which will make it easier but can be done without
What model heat gun do you have?
I have the Quick 861DW - this model here:

Where can i buy the capacator that you used?
If you are only buying one, then somewhere like eBay will sell them in small quantities - they are 100nf
What temp did you have your soldering iron set to?
380 degrees is my usual go to temperature.
@@ConsoleTherapy I forgot to also ask, what type of solder were you using when you installed the new hdmi port? Lead solder or lead free solder?
@@christopheraker1862 Leaded solder - it is easier to work with ;-)
Celsius or Fahrenheit? @@ConsoleTherapy
Did you reuse the Liquid Metal?
Depends on the age of the console and if there are any dry spots - if working one of the first gen PS5 consoles, I now replace the liquid metal as standard
20 minutes work and a $2 part and now you can sell it for 50 times what you paid for it
I latterly heat it up for 45 minutes and nothing comes out. Using it at 475 fahrenheit and added flux and chip quik --- What an I doing wrong? is it 475 celsius or fahrenheit?
It is celsius.. try removing the nozzle of your heat gun to ensure the most efficient heating of the port and board
@@ConsoleTherapy Thanks! Not sure what I'm doing worng.. it will not come off. I have up the heat to 890f and added some low melt solder. it seems that the top pins will not come out.. :(
Made the exact same mistake. Had to heat to about 800 Fahrenheit before it would come out. Only took like 3 mins then.
Use the low melting solder. If it’s an old console and has never been repaired it’s very difficult to get the factory solder to flow. Also I can’t stress about the importance of the flux.
Does your PS5 have a no video issue? What did you do to fix it?
I own a small repair business, most of the time no video is solved by swapping the HDMI port. I do not remove old solder but add some leaded tin to the mainboard connections. After that I heat the board, drop the new (pre-tinned) port in, apply light pressure for a few seconds until the solder hardens. This method is (in my opininion) even faster, easier and proven more than sufficient, literally no PS5 has come back with problems.
But of course, to each his own, your method is just as valid!
@@dannykusters6842 Thanks Danny - and thanks for sharing your tips, appreciate it
I sent mine into repair to a local company I use through work. They've replaced the HDMI port but it still isn't showing any picture, unsure what to do now unfortunatley.
I used electrical tape and some super glue !
😂😂😂😂@@valt9093
will it affect the video quality
Not if it is installed correctly
Do you use lemon juice to desolder the hdmi port?
My first time hearing this
lol - no flux and solder
Are PS5 HDMI ports having issues
We do replace a few yes! If people are unplugging and re connected the HDMI cable often, then it can have wear and tear
