It's possible that the PS5 was set to 4K or some other display setting that your capture card or the display at your desk doesn't support.
If you turn it on by holding the power button down for 6 seconds it should boot into safe mode, which should display on any device.
Just for future reference!
Hello, I want to say Thank you to you. My old laptop stopped working yesterday. After checking the psu was working and the charging light was on, I did the measurement from a usb port which suggested no motherboard fault. I opened the case, I saw the pcb battery and took it out, put it back in after 10 mins. Bingo, all fired back to life. I feel you gave me the confidence to attempt this. Thank you.
Thank you very much for this video, Sorin. With your help, another PS5 lives again. Your method worked really well, only thing I changed was I pre tinned the pins of the port first and made sure I had nice fluffy pillows of fresh solder and flux on the pads which seemed to help with less pins to touch up at the end. Hell of a ground plain on these eh !
You are Amazing man sir I have had passion for electronics and electrical maintainance and installation all of you sharing knowledge on you tube for free are amazing I have learnt a lot from you sir God bless you and your entire family
You're such a nice guy sir thanks for sharing all of your ideas hat's off to you sir💯
The most realistic video for replacing hdmi port for PS5 👍🏼 i like it thanks for sharing. I think i overheat my PS5 board during my try to replace the same
Nice repair video 👏
good job mate.
Unique content. 👌🏼
Great job. What are you going to do now with all these screws !!! Good luck 😃
Just done 2 of these yesterday, so many screws
10:36 lol , you're amazing
Love the scottish accent when ranting on screw-sizes.
Could it be your HDMI cable? Fairly certain there are different revisions of HDMI. Nice vid. Friend of mine asked if I could replace an xbox one hdmi. Was just something they seen on fb marketplace. Should of bought it and fixed it. Don't have much soldering experience though and I'd need a heat gun and finer tip.
That is some amazing RF shielding for the PlayStation.

FCC regulations on spurious emissions. His 15 minute job became a 1 hour job, now they know how much to charge for that procedure.
Those plates act as both shielding AND heatsinks. Look closely and you'll see compound for RAM and power rails mosfets.
Huge gaming Machine. As I remember how I was putting radiators and fans everywhere on my daughter's computer 😭
Hi Sorin, I need a bit of help. I have a Asus TP301UA, came in to change the screen, when I open it to unplug the battery before dismounting the screen, I noticed that near the lvds connector its burned, typical for when the cable is unplugged while connected. It looks like a capacitor, but what its burned its looks like an inductor or a coil. I cant locate the schematic, all I could find its a photo of the board where I could see how the components supposed to look like. I could send you a picture, but I guess its typical for the 19V lvds.
awesome
For little bit more stress you can use low melt solder before hot air
Esto es correcto. Cambiar aleación a 138º y luego utilizar aire caliente.
BOM clerk to PS5 engineer: "How many screws to do you need?". "Yes".
I know with the PS3 & the PS4, HDCP settings in the software won't allow you to capture from the Elgato so I assume that was the case here.
the screws are different sizes because of the design of the case
Do you know where I can get hdmi replacement plug already tined?
my question is what is the best alternative for flux if you cant find it at the store or it is too expensive?, thankyou for sharing :)
Saliva????
he has a video on how to make your own flux
@@baya24 thankyou very much for the reply, i did search about that video but the problem is that we dont have rosin flux in my country plus there is no official delivery service you can trust where i live unfortunately xD
@@wass77 I said, Saliva, delivery system in in you mouth! 😜🤪😛
@glyn hodges ooh yeah tree resin is available where i livein large quantities, thank you very much for the reply much appreciated 🙏
Not sure what I'm doing wrong but I've done exactly like you've done here 500 degrees 100% airflow on my rework station to try and remove a HDMI port from a laptop motherboard - after 5 minutes I give up as it's just not budging! Melted, but not budging :(
Have in mind, just because the air station has 500 degrees Celsius, doesn't mean the output power is enough to overcome the heat dissipation on a motherboard. I suggest to shop around for a air station with a higher output power
I've just checked and the one I have is rated at 750W - how does this compare to the one you use? Thanks.@@electronicsrepairschool
nice
Anyone know the address of the shop repairing
When the professor has to watch a tutorial 🤣🤦
that's because all our life is a learning process :D
you say your goal is 50 with the helium , how high could it go for you, could get up to 200 per day?
Dont lose the spacer!!
Are you located in the US? I have a laptop I'd pay you to fix
Sorin why don't you use solder wick to remove solder and get clear holes then just press connector and solder 4 big legs after that just put flux and pass over all little conectors job done...💁
I've never replaced a HDMI port before but I was thinking that's how I would do it. He was right to point out the risks of damaging the port with hot air if installing it that way, but I was thinking why not just take out the risk by clearing the holes and resoldering everything? Especially as I'd want to go over the pins with an iron in any case.
@@fadetonoir6152 well im speaking from experience it's much better solution, but as Sorin like to say he is lazy to mess around with that and probably will take him some time but he doing stuff on his way...but yeah as i described that's proper way to solder it and this was Sorin way haha old wolf
Wish he show reassembly.
Yeh, that' s the fun part ;-))
Soren, why don't you take a minute to blow out the dust from the fan while you have the laptops open? Your customers will notice when their computers are a bit faster. Or much faster (and quieter) if the dust (and hair.....) is really thick. Also, why not replace the thermal paste (if it is dried up) when you remove heatsinks from GPUs and CPUs. I know that time is money, but it doesn't take long and happy customers will always come back and tell all of their friends.
I really like your videos and I realize that some of your "doggy" fixes are the most feasible solutions and will likely work just fine, so my comment is not meant to criticize your work.
Japanese engineering : They use the minimum requirements screw length so different sizes for each. 😂😂
is the capture card 4K capable? the PS5 might be on 4K.
The display negotiates the res on startup or shows a part of the image, the standards are a mess and barely work.
@Ed Straker no, the hand shaking and specific HDMI or any display type specifications are a mess and don’t necessarily work every time and specially on every device combo. DP is much better these regards but that also craps out.
Wow loads of screws .Nice video
He's probably still trying to reassemble :)
Please Help sir !!!
I installed windows 10 on dell Inspiron n5010
Then downloaded drives from dell website
Duing bios update from Version a5 to a15 screen went white then laptop was off
Tried to reset bios by removing bios battery and holding down power button and nothing happened
Watched a video about installing bios files on a fat usb flash drive then holding end till plugging the power supply and that a bios installation will be performed automatically but in video only the screen was off but lights were on and laptop was beebing
In my case everything is off no sounds no lights nothing
Regards from Syria i follow you since long time.
Good friggin luck on those screws...
from phillipines
Sorin please check the Hakko Gx 951 clones for under 50 usd/pounds they use direct heat tips and they have really really good thermal performance and with really really fast heat up.
Let's replace hdmi ports fast. I laughed the very minute he said that.
60 odd screws later...........
you are besr Techer, Thinks My Uncle 😁,
Time for a new microscope camera Sorin? :)
I bet the lens is dirty.
Helium balloons rising 😁
That an SSD expansion port
I hope you will put a new thermal paste and liquid meta when you finish the job and collect all in one peace. Its true right?
You don't need to do that with liquid Metal. The metal wil not change its state as paste would do...btw
@Dave he stopped the Video so he can rewind to see which screew goes where... more important than thermal paste anyway :)
Great question. I wish Sorin show reassembling.
help me im technician from phillipine im ur number fan for repairing laptop sir
❤❤2
The correct way to change ANY port is wick off the old solder, put the new port in place and then solder by hand. Then you know for sure the port is soldered correctly and there will be no heat damage. Try it next time and it will be a better job and be faster because you will not waste time taking it apart and going over your work 3 times ^_^
That is what you are taught to believe as long as solder is making a bond it doesn't matter if it was old solder or not if there are no cracks it won't lead to anything shorting and sorin identified that each pin was correctly soldered just by reinstalling by reflowing the solder if your statement is to be gospel then each time we reflow chips we must change out the solder everytime. Solder doesn't decontaminate as fast as the YT university makes you think it does.
Can anyone here tell me why is Mr. Sorin ignoring my request for his shop's address in the UK ?
Thanks Y'all a million .
@glyn hodges Thank you Mr. Glen for your reply . I am not in the UK & don't know Mr. Sorin personally . I jus want to send him my daughter's laptop for repair , with visting relatives from the UK .

Dodgy port replacement. 🥲
HDMI booster - that why not working.
Someone please gift him JAKEMY Y02 PLUS electric screwdriver. Its impossible for me to send him from country.
He has one (not exact same model, but close). Not sure why he wasn't using it today but you'll see it in previous videos.
