    It's possible that the PS5 was set to 4K or some other display setting that your capture card or the display at your desk doesn't support.
    If you turn it on by holding the power button down for 6 seconds it should boot into safe mode, which should display on any device.
    Just for future reference!

    Hello, I want to say Thank you to you. My old laptop stopped working yesterday. After checking the psu was working and the charging light was on, I did the measurement from a usb port which suggested no motherboard fault. I opened the case, I saw the pcb battery and took it out, put it back in after 10 mins. Bingo, all fired back to life. I feel you gave me the confidence to attempt this. Thank you.

    Thank you very much for this video, Sorin. With your help, another PS5 lives again. Your method worked really well, only thing I changed was I pre tinned the pins of the port first and made sure I had nice fluffy pillows of fresh solder and flux on the pads which seemed to help with less pins to touch up at the end. Hell of a ground plain on these eh !

    Could it be your HDMI cable? Fairly certain there are different revisions of HDMI. Nice vid. Friend of mine asked if I could replace an xbox one hdmi. Was just something they seen on fb marketplace. Should of bought it and fixed it. Don't have much soldering experience though and I'd need a heat gun and finer tip.

    Hi Sorin, I need a bit of help. I have a Asus TP301UA, came in to change the screen, when I open it to unplug the battery before dismounting the screen, I noticed that near the lvds connector its burned, typical for when the cable is unplugged while connected. It looks like a capacitor, but what its burned its looks like an inductor or a coil. I cant locate the schematic, all I could find its a photo of the board where I could see how the components supposed to look like. I could send you a picture, but I guess its typical for the 19V lvds.

    Not sure what I'm doing wrong but I've done exactly like you've done here 500 degrees 100% airflow on my rework station to try and remove a HDMI port from a laptop motherboard - after 5 minutes I give up as it's just not budging! Melted, but not budging :(

    • @electronicsrepairschool
      @electronicsrepairschool  6 місяців тому +1

      Have in mind, just because the air station has 500 degrees Celsius, doesn't mean the output power is enough to overcome the heat dissipation on a motherboard. I suggest to shop around for a air station with a higher output power

    • @fadetonoir6152
      @fadetonoir6152 2 роки тому +1

      I've never replaced a HDMI port before but I was thinking that's how I would do it. He was right to point out the risks of damaging the port with hot air if installing it that way, but I was thinking why not just take out the risk by clearing the holes and resoldering everything? Especially as I'd want to go over the pins with an iron in any case.

    Soren, why don't you take a minute to blow out the dust from the fan while you have the laptops open? Your customers will notice when their computers are a bit faster. Or much faster (and quieter) if the dust (and hair.....) is really thick. Also, why not replace the thermal paste (if it is dried up) when you remove heatsinks from GPUs and CPUs. I know that time is money, but it doesn't take long and happy customers will always come back and tell all of their friends.
    I really like your videos and I realize that some of your "doggy" fixes are the most feasible solutions and will likely work just fine, so my comment is not meant to criticize your work.

      The display negotiates the res on startup or shows a part of the image, the standards are a mess and barely work.

    • @tanishqbhaiji103
      @tanishqbhaiji103 2 роки тому

      @Ed Straker no, the hand shaking and specific HDMI or any display type specifications are a mess and don’t necessarily work every time and specially on every device combo. DP is much better these regards but that also craps out.

    The correct way to change ANY port is wick off the old solder, put the new port in place and then solder by hand. Then you know for sure the port is soldered correctly and there will be no heat damage. Try it next time and it will be a better job and be faster because you will not waste time taking it apart and going over your work 3 times ^_^

    • @shutinyanks
      @shutinyanks 2 роки тому +1

      That is what you are taught to believe as long as solder is making a bond it doesn't matter if it was old solder or not if there are no cracks it won't lead to anything shorting and sorin identified that each pin was correctly soldered just by reinstalling by reflowing the solder if your statement is to be gospel then each time we reflow chips we must change out the solder everytime. Solder doesn't decontaminate as fast as the YT university makes you think it does.
