hey i wanna change the port to type c is it possibe?
Theoretically, if you know the PIN outs yes, but there would be no speed benefit.
Hola cuánto tardas en quitar soundbreat con pistola aire
about 3 to 4 minutes
My ps5 is doing the same thing how do I get this
Can i reuse the old capacitor whitout buying ti?
Good video keep them coming 😊
I soldered a few times as like a child in the 90s with the help of my uncle. But i watched this video, generated a list of the tools used, and i plan on replacing my HDMI port. On a scale of 1-Who The Heck Do You Think You Are? What do you guys think??
What amperage did you have the bench psu set to?
1 amp (start very low when using a bench power supply)
@ConsoleTherapy yea I probably would have started at 0.5 but it's always good to know. Thank you for responding so quick. I have a ps5 doing this and I do board level stuff but not quite an expert just yet.
What are all the tools needed for this repair, my part is arriving today and I need the tools 😂
A Philips Cross Head Screwdriver is all you need
Hey what desoldering gun is that? I need a better one myself these new gen consoles have the metal they used for thors hammer for solder on the hdmi ports
Hi - I have used a few models in the past, this one is good for a budget - amzn.to/4btsEkQ
@@ConsoleTherapy ps5 hdmi swap went well but the xbox series consoles are a pain in my ass, so i really appreciate it
@ConsoleTherapy whats your view on yihua? I have a hot air rework station from them and they sell their desoldering station around the same price. Wondering if youve used any of their stuff in the past.
@@poeskey I have, and they are a good brand for the budget. I have used one of their soldering irons before and it worked quite well - as long a you had the right size tip on it
What magnification is best for this?
Nice work mann❤❤❤
Thank you very much
So anyone knows how the bios chip gets corrupted in the first place?
Not sure. My guess is power issues (unclean shutdowns, and surges) that corrupt the BIOS but I cannot say for sure.
Hi mate, amazing video, always impressive to see people fix broken things people abandon, how did you know that was the chip needing replacing? and if that wasn’t the one needing replacing, would you have went through all of them replacing them? or is there a way to find the exact one causing the problem? thank you, been watching your videos a lot recently!😊
Thank you mate, really appreciate you watching the videos and the comment. It is really through experience that I know that IC can cause an issue. I have changed quite a few now with the error and I would say about 7 times out of 10 if resolves the error code... however, it does not work 100% of the time. Also replacing the SSD ICs can fix that error code - I will have a video coming soon on that one!
Thank you bro , struggled to get my low melt solder to mix with the factory stuff its 60/40 , melted a connector first time ,need some better soldering tips and iron probably , mines only cheap and they burn out / delaminate quickly . I will have another go soon !
Apakah ICnya di ganti dengan yang baru?
Ya, tapi Anda bisa menggunakan motherboard yang berasal dari donor
name the dongle u used to read tx n rx please
It is a UART to USB Reader - like this one: amzn.to/4eKf2om
@@ConsoleTherapy thnx mate
You are an expert ❤
Thank you
Very helpful… now hopefully I haven’t already botched the job too bad to fix in my next attempt lol
Thank you, I am doing my first one in the coming days.
Good luck!
Hello, I think I have the same problem, my Ps5 does not beep and lights up 1 second and goes out... then it beep but does not turn on... I wait 5 seconds and it starts again... no beep and blue light. Is that the same problem? Thank you.
Thanks for the view and comment. It could be the same issue, it is hard to tell without testing, but we see many PS5's with this capacitor shorted. By the way, the second time you press the power button (when it beeps and shows no light) is just the PS5 "switching off" so that is normal when you first have the blue light then off issue
I done so many ps5 repairs. And encoder. But had a few where no image even after hdmi and encoder. Have 5v. What else could be wrong
I usually check the entire HDMI circuit including all caps and diodes around the port and retimer
@ConsoleTherapy same no luck
Hi mate. I've got the same programmer as you and the latest software. I've got the exact same Winbond bios as you too...the pins are detected by the programmer but it's saying "check device is correct"...Does that mean the chip is dead?? Many thanks
Hi mate - thanks for view and comment. Just to double check - have you selected the correct Winbond W25Q16JVSNIM IC and also unchecked "Check ID" from the Options section (bottom left hand of the screen). If you have done that, then it does sounds like a faulty IC
Nice tutorial.. many thanks
Thank you very much
Nice!
Does this issue get worse over time or not? Just happened to me today but im kinda broke at the moment and not sure if i can get a repair anytime soon so it would be great if doesn’t get worse over time then i can repair it some time later
Should not really get worse over time based on the corrupted BIOS (it is either faulty or not). But the three beeps issue might be caused by other issues with your PS5 that might be getting worse over time
@@ConsoleTherapy well it happened when there was a blackout, the electricity came back after like 3 mins and it just did that.ive had it for 3 years and this is the first time encountering something like this
Thank you very hopeful video 🙏
Thank you very much, and thanks for the view
Very common issue with these consoles. my first ps5 in had this problem but second cap in the bank.. great work.
Thank you... and agree, very common issue!
What exactly is the HDMI port test looking for, and how do you know the expected value? I'm learning electronics, and have only seen diode mode used to check diodes. It looks like you are measuring directly between ground and the signal pins of the HDMI connector - no diode in between? I'm also under the assumption you can't check diodes while they're still in the circuit, or you get incorrect readings.
Hi Danny - thanks for the view and comment. The test reads the voltage drop from two points on a board, in this case the Retimer IC and ground. I have a list of what the values should be from a known working motherboard, so I simply compare the values and if they are different, it points to a possible issue with the area I am measuring. Hope that helps and good luck with learning electronics
@@ConsoleTherapy That makes sense. Thank you for taking the time to reply!
mods? great video!
This literally just happened to me about an hour ago and it’s very frustrating lol tried different HDMI cables. I unplugged it waited a couple minutes, Nothing works so this must be the problem for me.
how does a bios loose settings?
Might be due to a power loss etc

What temp and airflow are you using to swap the southbridge? Info would be much appreciated.
I have a Xbox one controller that has a micro USB that’s damaged, could I replace it with a USB C? I also need to replace the SMT repeater but I can’t find any clear instructions on how to
Theoretically, it might be possible, but the simple answer is no. A USB C connector is reversible (the cable can be connected either way round) and a micro USB is not and has a set pin out. So you could trace all the pin outs to their correct connections on a USB C connector, but it is not as simple as dropping in a USB connector and it will work.
@@ConsoleTherapy yeah I imagined that it wasn’t as simple as swapping out the connectors, I’d say I’m fairly handy with a soldering iron and I’ve replaced many HDMI ports and USB ports, I just have this old controller I wanted to try it on, thought I’d ask a pro first as I’m no electrician 😂 duct tape? WD40? I’m your man 💀
@@bramhenry1163 Nothing wrong with a bit of duct tape and WD40 😂
I latterly heat it up for 45 minutes and nothing comes out. Using it at 475 fahrenheit and added flux and chip quik --- What an I doing wrong? is it 475 celsius or fahrenheit?
It is celsius.. try removing the nozzle of your heat gun to ensure the most efficient heating of the port and board
@@ConsoleTherapy Thanks! Not sure what I'm doing worng.. it will not come off. I have up the heat to 890f and added some low melt solder. it seems that the top pins will not come out.. :(
Made the exact same mistake. Had to heat to about 800 Fahrenheit before it would come out. Only took like 3 mins then.
Use the low melting solder. If it’s an old console and has never been repaired it’s very difficult to get the factory solder to flow. Also I can’t stress about the importance of the flux.
20 minutes work and a $2 part and now you can sell it for 50 times what you paid for it
Great video. Very informative. Thanks for making and sharing.
Thank you and thanks for watching!
from where i can get jumper wire like u i have copper jumper wire but its can cut by the iron heat
I normally use a 0.1 Enameled Copper Wire
@@ConsoleTherapy what about the heat ?? how the wire still attached
@@giovannigiorgio2262 The wire is attached using solder - I am not sure what you mean?
@@ConsoleTherapy i have jumper wire from AliExpress 200c can burn it 😂😂 the heat can burn the wire that what i mean and im sry my eng is bad
@@giovannigiorgio2262 Ah, your English is good my friend. Sorry to hear about your wire - unfortunately AliExpress is not the best place to purchase some consumables like wire and ICs
Yeah I'm not doing this. There's notta chance in hell id be able get it back together.
i have similar problems it displays on monitor not on tv flickering with noise on pictures snow
All my mosfets seem to be working. The small ones gives a reading of .79 and the big ones gives me a reading of .75. Where do i check from there?
Are you getting any power to the Xbox at all?
@@ConsoleTherapyNot getting any power at all. When i plug in the power source and test with my multimeter, I get 12dcv from all three phases. There seem to be a ground fault on some component on the board though. Just not sure where to check after the Mosfets.
Same issue bro. Ever find a solution?
What is the name of the screw driver called?
It is a Torx screw driver (you can buy a pack with many different size and style of heads like this one - amzn.to/3Q1Zy3Y)
excellent tutorial, One question, do you know where I can get the file since I don't have it and I have the same problem with exactly the same console without a disc?
Thanks Andres - not many people share the file, but it can be found online. Have a look on badcaps.net you might be able to find it on there - make sure you use the file for the correct model of PS5 that you have (CFIXXXX) and motherboard version EMD-XXX)
Are PS5 HDMI ports having issues
We do replace a few yes! If people are unplugging and re connected the HDMI cable often, then it can have wear and tear
We’re do you get that part you changed. Can you buy one somewhere
Digikey sell them, but you might be able to find them on eBay
Good tutorial. ❤😊
Thanks Zaff
Where can i buy the capacator that you used?
If you are only buying one, then somewhere like eBay will sell them in small quantities - they are 100nf
