Hey Grant, it is really great to see you doing the old diy style videos again. Honestly I was getting really burned out on the silicone molding stuff. Would love to see more content like this.
I have always wanted to have a machine that would work like this! I made rope in a camp setting as well, just enough to make a lanyard for my neck name plate, and the machine was similar to the manual ones you described, although with a front and back paddle to hold the winders, it made a decent machine. Your design for the dril-operated one is so efficient! I'm looking forward to watching the next videos on how to make long rope lengths by one person. Thanks!
Huge thanks! My boy needed to complete a requirement in Boy Scouts for the Pioneering Merit Badge, Requirement 6. He followed you video and completed his machine. We didn't create the second lift you did, but with a spreader and a little ingenuity at the end, he successfully made his own 8 ft rope! This was awesome. Really appreciate the video!
Hi Thompson, Greetings from India. I am Josh. I really like your channel and have learnt a lot from it. Now here is what I am going to ask you! I recently came across this new self-defence weapon called Kubaton. I found it cool. But what if a fire-piston is made in the shape of a Kubaton. Then, it would double up as survival tool as well. I have seen your fire piston videos. So can you make a "fire piston Kubaton"? I believe it will be cool!
Dude! My son watches your vids and now I'm "roped" into helping him build this! Ahhhhhh! I am not mechanical. I actually had to use spell check to correctly spell the word mechanical.
Great stuff! In 1959 (I was 8) I did exactly this with a coping saw, wood and coat hanger wire and made some rope that my Mom kept until her death. My younger brother helped. I love your improvements!
Im not sad hes passed on. Im glad we all he shared his ideas and unique way of thinking with all of us. Im thankful we were privileged enough to have this man with us. He may be gone now. But his legacy lives on
Like the ingenuity that’s a very rare quality our current society; we’re so dependent upon someone else doing it for us. I’ve been a mechanic over 44 years and I’ve made some tools when there’s not one readily available. Would of like to have seen your creation in operation!

What does this have to do with "fidget" at all? it's just a rope making machine. Also, I'm happy that you've started making stuff again, I was getting very bored with your liquid nitrogen, gummy stuff, and vacuum chamber experiments.
I have a 3d printer, and I cringed when he broke the wheel assembly to only get the plastic wheel part... And you would not need the washers with a 3D printed part most likely either.

You should get a 3d printer
I have a 3d printer, and I cringed when he broke the wheel assembly to only get the plastic wheel part... And you would not need the washers with a 3D printed part most likely either.
My thoughts exactly.
The problem with that is that most people don't have 3D printers, which would negate the idea of this being something that you can make yourself.
