Thanks for doing this video i will be looking at doing mine now ,as a new t4 owner it just helps to build confidence to do these things and learning the little tips like removing the washer bottle neck 👍
To be honest I always reckon if it was there it must be in for a reason, guess the VW designers must have thought it was a good idea 🤷♂️ I’ve seen some people replace the vent with complete solid wing, but would guess vent needed to let air filter breath properly

I removed it from my van about 15 years ago. No issues.
