    I've watched your KBS videos. They're good. I really like the way you actually demonstrate how the bread maker works. I'm looking at several different bread makers and the KBS is one of them. Thanks.

      Glad you like the videos. Yeah this KBS machine looked like a good deal for amount it costs compared to some others. Well worth a purchase.

    It's not sourdough when using dry yeast and no Starter

    I’m a home bread baker and use all methods to make bread. I make real sourdough bread, which is made with a starter or natural leaven, taking many hours using a starter to ferment the dough. not made with commercial yeast. Even using a sourdough starter, sourdough bread can’t be made in a bread machine, cycles aren’t long enough, unless you can program it using a programmable Zojirushi bread machine.

      Why can't we make it in our bread machine? We mix the dough and leave it to rise for about 6 hours, let it rise and then bake it.

    • @Rob_430
      @Rob_430 Рік тому

      @@darbydupree4056 I just had tried that and it works. After the 6 hours, I remove, shape, back in the bread machine to proof, bake.

      @@Rob_430I’m curious how you made it in a bread machine. I make my SD the traditional way. As you described in your original comment. I do have an Emeril bread machine but not sure the setting/steps you used to make it in the machine. Do you select the dough option, put in SD starter, salt and flour, let that mix, then let it sit for X hours, then put it in your Dutch oven pot and bake in traditional oven? Where do all the stretch and fold ( to create gluten) and bulk ferment options fit in? Thanks.

    Not a good practice to load pan while in the machine if you spill it burns during baking and makes a mess out of the interior
    Load ingredients with pan outside of the machine

    Im sorry if I missed it, but I didnt see you put any sourdough starter in it. Only yeast. That makes it just ordinary white bread, right?

    I’m confused why you’re calling this sourdough bread? It doesn’t have any starter. Just because it cooked longer?

      Because it was the recipe provided by the manufacturer and that was what they called it.

      @@teamdonovan My question too. The recipe on page 25 of the KBS booklet has sourdough starter as the last ingredient as 1/2 teas, etc., which wasn't added in this video or mentioned. I've never heard of such a tiny bit of sour dough starter for a recipe, and then it was ignored anyway.

    Sugar? Looks great I'm going to try mine and though I'm no baker by any means I've never heard of adding sugar to sourdough.
    Edit: I just looked it up and yes you can and several people who do bake very politely informed me. (And I understand you were simply following the recipe). Which would explain why I don't like some peoples sourdough bread. Interesting but I'm going to look for a sugarless recipe as the sourdough I prefer doesn't have any. Good job btw

    This looks horrible. if the bread machine is a 2 pounder and you are making 3 pounds you should have a giant loaf in there. I would suggest blooming the yeast or making a starter of your own and using only the 2 pound method I've yet seen a machine that makes real sourdough. what you have is very dense bread
