Great rockumentary, please can we have more full recording behind the scenes. So cool to see the techniques, the project build up over time and the banter. Great vid 👍
Love this, so cool to see everything start to finish! 👍👍👍
Thanks a lot for making this video, I’ve been looking for something exactly like this on UA-cam for a while. I love how precise you mic the drums
Thanks for sharing, this is great. And some cool music by the band !
Great job! Great sounding band too!
This is great, and the band are really good too. Thanks for this video.
I love seeing stuff like this. I guess most new bands are all recording their tracks at home these days.
yep most the time these days. I built my own studio that is fully dead silent and working on phase two incorporating more of this style grafted to it within a new dedicated practice space. Key for me was wanting to be able to record anything at any hour. My next big leap is full acoustic kit and e kit composed within the same space alongside all the amps and gear I need plus having isolation booth for vocals, guitar, keys and bass without having to strip down gear so it saves a ton of time.
Very interesting, helpful video on the basic process. Much appreciated!
Nice, if I ever get in a band that's ready for the studio I'll keep here in mind
Sick! Love the video !
Thanks for such an amazing video 👏🏼
Wow! I learned a lot from this! So cool!
its so interesting to look behind songs and see how it is done is studio. Very nice video and thanks for sharing =)
Good stuff & Well done!!
yaaay i love that episode !
awesome video man
Great Video, really like it! Cool studio 🔥👍
Very good job mate ! Some of the songs sounds like early Gun's Roses. Congrats to the band too for the performance. Cheers from Canada.
I want to start studio recording so this is great to see! Im a first timer, earned yourself a subscriber! I have a band myself and I know how much work it goes to doing this. I'm a drummer for my band
Andrew Brady yeah same. I’m on a record right now that we’re working on
Bro. I've learned as a drummer that when you gotta run sound too. It really drains you. Haha. Good luck. It's struggle, but the end result is worth it.
This is awesome! Gone through a lot of how to studio record videos, but it's sooo helpful actually seeing the process of how a band and the audio engineer go through the whole process, in one video under 30 mins. I'm so glad this video showed up in my recommended. Quick question. What headphones are you using to listen to the mix? I have the ATH-M50x, which I've heard is great for tracking, but not recommended for mixing.
This video was super helpful, thanks for making it. I'm subscribing and looking for more like it. I have never been in anybody else's studio so it's great to see how things go. Keep them coming!
Great upload
Thanks I guess!
good vid dude.
that was a banging tune
Cheers mate means a lot
but where was the cowbell
The cowbell was in our hearts all along.
I absolutely love how this guy can both know his shit(like really know his shit), and be a funny and humerus guy at the same time.
I can’t believe I’m just finding this channel… Such great content! Looks like I’ll be binge watching for the next few hours. I’m curious, how many square feet is your entire studio and also just the control room? Looks roomy
Thanks Matthew! It’s funny we’ve not done any advertising so it’s been a slow grower.
I’d have to look at the schematics but it’s fairly big in here, we bought it to purpose build the studio, though it’s no warehouse by any means. The ceilings a bit lower than I’d like, but with the floating floor/ceiling some sacrifices had to be made!
What camera did you use? was it one of those you got free with 50 ring pulls in the 90's?
Theses guys are good. How do I get a copy of that EP?
I noticed that the snare batter head had a few ripples in it. Do you tune the snare down to eliminate ring? Is it best to record with a flat dry snare sound so you can pepper it with EQ and EFX? Love your choices on the mics. I learned a lot from your video. Good education for me.
Very much depends on the band, the song etc. The ripples are from the Masshoff tuning style that makes for a dead sound to which you can add reverb, but sometimes a more lively sound is called for
He roams these streets looking for vaccinations .......brilliant beautiful words man
great video! How long did it take you to get to this studio where you are now? I wish that one day I have a studio like that so I can record my songs and other bands xd
Thanks! I started recording about 15 years ago, and the studio started slowly about 8 or 9 years back, slow growth and gradual improvement have got me here. It’s been more about the experience of doing it than the gear :)
Do the mic on the drums make them louder or are they used for the mixing?
very interesting, thanks for uploading. did you check for phase and polarity issues off camera ?
More than likely! Doesn’t make for exciting footage
@@adamsteelproducer Wow, yeah I can imagine! keep up the good work! Peace
Nice to watch and learn from a complete newbe's perspective..
yes !! another Reaper user !!!!
How much does a project like this cost?
Do you always track rhythm guitars before bass? Just curious why it wouldn’t be the other way around. Thanks!
Matt Mashburn that’s what I thought aswell, I do drums first then bass then guitar
I would definitely have drums and guitars recorded first ( al least as a guide ). That way you'll have the overall of the felling of the entire song so when you play the bass you will feel like playing with the band thus playing with more feeling. Later you can replace those guitars for the final takes. That way each musician will always feel accompanied while recording and that way playing better lines that match the overall esence of the tune.
No studio day is complete without a packet of Hobnobs!! :D
12:35 sounds ALOT like AM
We try and get some of our inspiration from modern music to try and bring a wider audience to our music
@@ryanwebb7181 That's awesome, and that specific section of that song doesn't define you of course. I personally don't think an artist needs/should to think that way, but I wouldn't know at all :)
What is the title of the song?
you had a 20 watt valve amp on full volume without the mics clipping ? how'd you do that ?
Don’t turn up the mic gain, don’t use super sensitive mics
Zep 1 did this all the time. Had to mic from across the room
i love how ur still using windows 7!
I moved to windows 10 years ago
@@adamsteelproducer it just looks like you were using 7 but cool vid man
is that a linus tech tips shirt
what software do you prefer to use for a beginner and also for a professional?
Reaper
@@adamsteelproducer Thanks for that reply..❤
Wait so you mixed and mastered everything at the end of day 3? Or were those just mixdowns for the band and you did the actual mixes later?
Mix was all but done by end of day 3. I tend to mix as I go, you know the old phrase “track like there’s no mixing, mix like there’s no master”
So most of the mix, apart from a few small revisions afterward, were done with the band in the room, discussing tone, specific parts that needed boosting, ear candy etc and the master I got them to pick some reference tracks. Makes things work very quickly and it feels very collaborative
@@adamsteelproducer yea i figured when i saw the vocal chain haha
Nice, i really like that approach!
Can't find them on You tube or facebook. Thier name is Stereo Haze?
They changed their name to Conda later on
What band is this?
Support the channel, watch an ad!
"He roams these streets craving....
That ain’t a control room bro… that a whole man cave 🗿
what is the name of the band
They’re now called Conda
Cup of tea over that pedal board… 😬
not my personal favorite in terms of genre. im more of a alternative and punk kinda dude. but i have to pay respect to some great musicians
Intonate the bass lol.
talking to us about all those dope setups on micing...while the camera delivers the whackest sound ever xD
It’s just a GoPro vlog 😂
@@adamsteelproducer hahahaha all good! like the video
someone buy that kid a real power supply
But, need more cowbell
Always!
thousands spent in studio equipment
*uses built-in camera mic so we can hear scratches and other shit 👍
Yeah so you can hear the behind the scenes, so it’s not overly polished and fake 👍
@@adamsteelproducer a cheap directional camera mic would do the job perfectly and it would be more pleasing to watch/hear your content. Just a suggestion :)
At 1400 you just shit all over his guitar
ukk I'm tired of these just guitar and drum bands i want something new
This is so #MAGA
ten seconds in and the audio is quiet and sounds like shit. going to pass on this "studio engineer" video.
It’s a GoPro clip from a car. What were you expecting??
Very arctic monkeys
