I think she hit the nail on the head when she said you can't expect someone making deeply moving songs about heartbreak to be a cool-headed optimist. And you think that you are somehow being respectful to people? Your comment makes it sound like addicts are generally bad, making the term addict an insult. No wonder so many people relapse.
@@miawallace2306 no it never gets better, meth is a drug you MUST stay away from at all costs it’s highly addictive and makes you feel extremely alert, lustful, aggressive, bipolar, the list goes on. Infact Meth attaches itself to the nervous system which is why lots of tweakers clench their jaws or are always moving. You sweat alot and smell like cat litter, your face becomes elongated and deformed….you lose the sense of reality, You literally become a whole different conscious. I forgot to mention the hallucinations and the voices you hear 👂 I personally am convinced I saw demons…like shadows
Well, consuming certain drugs causes you to actually lose the ability to "properly feel". So it's not that they need drugs to be happy, it's that every time they stop, their brain and body isn't operating normally anymore. With drugs, better don't start, they kill you.
Isn't it so sad that Amy is remembered for addiction and not for her amazing talent she brought to the world her voice, her amazing dress sence, the music songs, that made us feel something inside an amazing human being is and always will be. We're all only here for the time that we're meant to be here Amy brought something great into our world like we all should be doing.love you Amy. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@fayeart5277drugs being her choice doesnt make it less sad imo. Humans are weak and make shitty decisions. Better to be self destructive than destroying others
Gaga had a family, a father, that delivered unconditional love and support that came with essential boundaries. Amy didn't have that it seems - at least from her father's actions during and after her life and other information from documentaries. I do wish her grandmother survived long enough to guide her through these rough times. Comparing them is incredibly unfair. Their upbringings were completely different in most ways, including financial.
@Vee Tee You have a good heart. Events happen down the family line that leaves certain people (who are links in that chain) broken and weak....they're not strong enough for their own kids and often times not strong enough for themselves. Many of us come from these types of families, or so it seems. Sometimes these weaknesses in the chain can be felt for many generations until it's a type of family dysfunction that everyone simply accepts as a way of life. Other times, the weaknesses are addressed by an aware individual who is determined to create strength for themselves and their offspring. When we have the discernment to know we come from an incredibly weak link (perhaps as weak or weaker than Amy Winehouse's dad for instance), we have the gift of being able to intimately understand what the lives of our children will be if we don't work on becoming strong ourselves. I don't know if you have also come from this type of family - but I sincerely hope that you have found, or will find, the strength that is inherent within you....a strength that was hidden from you as a child from the people who should've loved and enforced you the most. That strength is always going to be within you and I hope you know you are deserving of love and happiness.
My father was a bad alcoholic and got sober and he was the only one in my family to be open and encourage me to get sober and if it weren’t for him I wouldn’t be alive today!
Lady Gaga is so right. Everyone was hard one her especially the fucking media! Pieces of garbage. The lesson is huge in this. Media probably made her situation even worse. People were judging her and they didn't even know her or what she was going through. I wish Lady Gaga had a chance to talk to Amy. I really wish I had the chance to meet and talk to Amy. I had a lot of the sadness she had even though I'm young and beautiful and seemingly have the "Life" friends, well off etc. Sometimes it's not enough and although there are people living in squalor with reason to be sad and depressed it doesn't make mine or Amy's sadness any less real. Heartbreaking
She died on my birthday, as did my father... It's sad cause I loved Amy, and I was actually celebrating my birthday the day she died , after years of avoiding the day because of my dad dying in 2007.. And when my friend told me she died right after blowing out the candles..I thought : wow, the first birthday in years that I decide to celebrate.. and my favorite singer dies. I really feel like my birthday isn't that happy after all 😢 RIP Amy
So heartbreaking that Amy Winehouse didn’t have the right people surrounding her 😔 when you’re surrounded by yes people it destroys you 😔 Lady Gaga is such a beautiful soul and absolutely deserved every single award she’s ever won x love her x
It's silly to ask someone why they could handle a certain situation more than another. Maybe when a person has anxiety or depression they don't cope with things like other people

Kind of insulting of Barbara to compare Gaga's dabbling with drugs to Amy's full blown addictions in order to imply that Amy might've lived if she'd just had someone tell her to "knock it off". Even in death, addicts get no respect or empathy. We're human, you know? Amy deserved better. I sure do miss her.
Well as an Amy fan I never considered her an addict even tho she did drugs I never saw her that way..I saw her as an artist and a legend ..she made great music and she made music that was relatable..so I saw her as an artist and a relatable human being :) we miss u Amy ❤️❤️❤️
Gaga told no lies. I’ll never forget the way the public & the media treated her. Imagine what happened to Britney in 2006-2008, triple that & that’s how they did Amy. They were harassing her for photos with a pipe in her hand & blood running down her body. At a time when she needed love & support, the world just laughed in her face. I’ve never seen such a vile act of public humiliation.

She started to go through her Saturn return at 27 we all do. Significant changes happen during Saturn return. The second Saturn return is age 58. It last for 4 years btw way. Most of us won't live long enough to see the 3rd Saturn return....... Look it up it's very interesting.
Over time there have been many pop artists who have died in their late twenties, even back in the 1960s and 1970s. Many of the them were related to drink or drugs either directly or as a result of accidents after taking either. There's only so much abuse that the body can withstand and the late late twenties tends to be the age at which people have their last chance to get away from serious addiction. By that time they simply have to get better if they're going to lead a longer life. Although Amy technically died of drink, she was already weakened by all the earlier abuse her body had taken. She also had an eating disorder so everything together created the perfect storm. I so wish that Amy was still with us. She would be 37 now though I feel that a recovery would have been long and gradual, but a recovery all the same.
Lady Gaga talks about how her dad held her accountable and explained his concerns in a relatable way. We can only hope Amy's dad did the same... that the parents didn't ignore it, or try to control it, or just try to push her into performing as a 'cure' for addiction. They certainly profited regardless
gaga changed the world for the better idc what anyone says. being gay even 10 years ago around this time was still not okay at all but she made it ok she did. thank you gaga 🙏🏼 been listening since 2008 went to her first tour i was 12 🙂❤️
Gaga didn't make being gay okay. She helped. But there were so many other artists, singers, musicians, actors, etc. before her that paved the way. Lady Gaga is very young. You never thought that there were others who have been around for years that made it okay to be gay way before Lady Gaga? You must be very young and very naïve.
That was it. She had sobered up then had a bender and her sober body couldn't handle it. Most alcoholics are always drinking aka it's usually in your system. Her blood was flooded
+Hey - I agree. Amy had abused her poor body since her first eating disorder at the age of 15. Her body had gone through a lot. That is a lot of stress on your heart muscles, kidneys, liver, etc... Surprised that Charlie Sheen is still living.
If you watch the woman to gaga’s left, the one next to her on the right of screen, she clues on to the fact that Lady Gaga is Amy Winehouse, when the woman mentions that Winehouse is 27 that she’s 25
Tony Bennett said Amy Winehouse and lady gaga were/ are the best singers of our century , amy loved Joanne...ms gaga , mark Ronson said he put there voices together, and it worked, they harmonized, I think _ amy ,adele, celeste, lady gaga, whitney Houston. That would of been a mature proper ladies band .a lovely dream. Xxxxx
She was so hurt, heartbroken, the love of her life also encouraged substance abuse and was a substance abuser. she was in pain. do not ever accuse or blame ANYONE. anyone couldve helped her, some people encouraged her, she chose to do them, and she was in pain. there is no specific party at fault.
The addict has the brain receptors that turned "ON" and provide euphoria for the addict. As I told my orthopedist when he told me I'd need a 7th shoulder surgery, and he asked why I do mountain biking as "Your shoulders weren't designed to take it" I said "If I didn't mountain bike and do these athletic things, I'd be taking 700mg of Zoloft a day." One has to find something that gives as much enjoyment as a drug but has positive, long term benefit i.e. mountain biking is great for my heart and makes me higher than any drug around.
When I was struggling to beat a 10 year addiction to intravenous amphetamines (speed) my psychiatrist said basically the same thing as you did.He said "You have to find something in your life that stimulates you as equally as the drug you're addicted to is & replace it with that".....Those words had a powerful & therapeutic effect on me & apparently he was right. Now I own 3 houses & have hundreds of thousands of dollars in the bank & the future doesn't have either death or jail staring me perennially in the face. It didn't happen overnight, but the craving for drugs dissipated over time & I no longer feel like my life is a lesser thing for not having them in it.It's a shame Amy wasn't able to transcend her addictions & enjoy 6 or 7 more decades of a happy & drug/alcohol free life.
*"The lesson was the for world to be kinder"* That's what it just takes for someone to be happy but I guess the highest living organisms in this damn planet couldn't do something like that.
Amy died of alcohol poisoning, had previously used drugs but her real struggle was with alcohol . That said, agree wi the poster below, this was a week after her passing and the prevalent theory was she died of an overdose. So no hating on Gaga.
I absolutely adored Amy but seeing my close family members and friends die from addiction them selfs you can only support them self's they have to take accountability for their actions before any thing else move forward relapse is all part of the recovery but also every relapse gets harder and harder to over comb RIP Beautiful Amy
no one can judge the past of others if they do not go through the same situations. it is easy to talk about others ..... especially about their problems and weaknesses .... have you tried to put yourself in the same shoes? no one will know what others endure in order to self-destruct .... respect for Amy.
My own personal view is it is so sad when young people do destructive things to themselves and there is no one behind them, to explain how much these drugs are destroying them. We adults need to remember what we all did to have fun and we need to be more acceptable by showing all young people that drugs don’t help you to love yourself, it will only destroy you. Reassurance, honesty and love to every young person. God Bless you. It’s a hard world and a cruel lesson to learn.
I have manic depression and there were times I wanted to get messed up off of something just to calm it down (I went through a mixed episode and to stay calm, i binged on alcohol, marijuana, and Valium pills, basically all "downers") but then there's also the part of me that's like well do I want to be a junkie for the rest of my life and hide all my problems and substance usage or do I want to get on my way despite my condition and look for ways to stay stress-free and positive as much as possible? I'm not going to throw my life away over some mental illness. I see too many people do that and that's not the direction I want to go. It's about choices. You can choose to get help or stay miserable and fckd up on drugs or booze.
@@LittleWing1985 u do know that drug dependency is heavily genetic right? For some its easy to do a few lines of coke every week and stop after a brief moment of introspection. For others it derails much faster to other drugs and self control in no longer as easy to achieve. Amy is also heavily theorized to have been borderline on top of manic depressive. Add there the fame, the uncountable money and the spotlight and I would bet her situation is much much harder than ur average folk. And yet she still managed to fully stop taking any hard drug and was on the process of quitting alcohol. She died by misadventure, she actually tried and she should also be respected by that.
Gaga is right and found the right words , and I agree with her. I knew a pretty lot of people dying by drugs, over the years. It gets worse with age of course . Amy was not one of these toxic "girlish type people like Cyrus and her tongue cramps, Perry who looks half dead, Rhianna or equal dolls, you could replace and noone'd realize, cause they are somehow "empty" And Gaga is not that ignorant and stands out of those always envying and judging plastic dolls. And I'm sure, She has not only a better voice and artwork and is a great actress, but is far more intelligent, as these wax-like "girl's", who find themselves sexy or offending, but I am sure, no man over 15 years of age would find one of them appealing. Hope Amy is in a good place now. She was such an outstanding talent. Her father was a shady Figuren to me. Maybe she would not have tried cold Turkey, when this guy had not let her stay away from Rehab. I don't know, how the English handle it. But nothing else could have had a worst outcome!
they stood idle when she needed help, and then idolized her when she passed, it wasn't all the substances and conditions that killed her, it was the way media the handled them that did.
im part of the green club too gaga ,thats why we are still alive,i lost friends that did what amy did ,or just booze and that kiled them ,excessand too much money
I’m sorry I have to defend Gaga here. This was filmed a week after Amy’s death and by that time her coroner report wasn’t released. It wasn’t until late October it was clarified that Amy died of alcohol poisoning. But I do think that Gaga was very reckless and insensitive to be throwing around gossip on national television and stating it was fact only a week after the event.
Honestly about drug use is the most beneficial thing to anyone on drugs or someone dealing with a loved one dealing with addiction. Supporting a person and supporting their addiction are very different and it’s nuanced and complex but honesty and acceptance are the first thing an addicted person needs, meaning they will need a person with whom they can share honestly so they can gain acceptance of their own addiction.
Amy was an exceptional talent who had mistaken the idea of being in love for true l believe she was looking for true love and had the misfortune of finding Blake. I don't believe he is to blame entirely as you don't make people do dope. But he knew exactly what heroin makes you become and admitted he should never had let her try it.It becomes your Lover and then he's just someone to get high with that she could trust. He may be hurt by all of it but if he truly had loved her he'd never be able to talk about anything The shared together. Fuck people, who cares what they think when you know the truth. We lost a beautiful , beautiful woman who is missed and will be missed forever. Rest in peace gorgeous I'll miss you also.

You sweat alot and smell like cat litter, your face becomes elongated and deformed….you lose the sense of reality,
You literally become a whole different conscious.
@@miawallace2306yes, you can overcome any addiction, but it can be very hard and you need good people around you and strength to make the change

She had a few good hits, had the potential to really go big. She chose a different direction...drug's. End of story.
@@fayeart5277drugs being her choice doesnt make it less sad imo. Humans are weak and make shitty decisions. Better to be self destructive than destroying others
This was a classy moment with Lady Gaga. Good for her for standing up for Amy.
@@sophiamarquisyou mad 😂

In Amy's song Rehab she sings "And if my daddy thinks I'm fine..." It shows how Dad's opinion truly matters.

I love Gaga so much. And Amy will always be a legend. People need to be kinder, that’s totally true.
Lady Gaga is so understanding and has so much empathy I love her!!!!!
Heartbreaking
since Amy passed....always have felt that Lady GaGa would be the perfect person to play Amy Winehouse in a biopic
Literally. I thought they look and looked so much alike. I wish she would have done that b4 a star is born and then move onto these other roles.
Always thought this too
She died on my birthday, as did my father...
I really feel like my birthday isn't that happy after all 😢
RIP Amy
That's actually so horrible I'm so sorry, I hope you're doing okay right now!

Maybe when a person has anxiety or depression they don't cope with things like other people
Even with anxiety and depression people handle things differently. Lady Gaga hasn't been free of those things.

I seen that right away. Nice you picked it up as well. Not a huge fan of GaGa but I see she is doing 3rd remake of A Star is Born. Original was fabulous. Another reason to respect Lady Gaga. I love Amy Winehouse and I like how she responded with care.
She didn’t know Amy and should not have commented

Kind of insulting of Barbara to compare Gaga's dabbling with drugs to Amy's full blown addictions in order to imply that Amy might've lived if she'd just had someone tell her to "knock it off". Even in death, addicts get no respect or empathy. We're human, you know? Amy deserved better. I sure do miss her.
"There's a way to be young and rebellious and have fun and not hurt yourself." Yeah!
On an unrelated note, I can’t believe Gaga is 25 here. So poised and mature
Why is it always age 27 for these amazing artists to meet their demise?
The Divine Venus mentions it in her recent Saturn video. Check it out.

I feel like lady Gaga would be such amazing friend to Amy if she was still here 💓

Lady Gaga could be a fantastic Amy in a biopic.
The addict has the brain receptors that turned "ON" and provide euphoria for the addict.
As I told my orthopedist when he told me I'd need a 7th shoulder surgery, and he asked why I do mountain biking as "Your shoulders weren't designed to take it"
I said "If I didn't mountain bike and do these athletic things, I'd be taking 700mg of Zoloft a day."
One has to find something that gives as much enjoyment as a drug but has positive, long term benefit i.e. mountain biking is great for my heart and makes me higher than any drug around.
It's been almost a decade since the passing of Amy Winehouse and Whitney Houston. Unbelievable
*"The lesson was the for world to be kinder"*
That's what it just takes for someone to be happy but I guess the highest living organisms in this damn planet couldn't do something like that.

no one can judge the past of others if they do not go through the same situations. it is easy to talk about others ..... especially about their problems and weaknesses .... have you tried to put yourself in the same shoes? no one will know what others endure in order to self-destruct .... respect for Amy.
I wish she answered Barbara's question about how she handles the massive fame the way she does.

Amy suffered with manic depression, it's not as easy to just be fine or stop an addiction when you have that. God bless her
I have manic depression and there were times I wanted to get messed up off of something just to calm it down (I went through a mixed episode and to stay calm, i binged on alcohol, marijuana, and Valium pills, basically all "downers") but then there's also the part of me that's like well do I want to be a junkie for the rest of my life and hide all my problems and substance usage or do I want to get on my way despite my condition and look for ways to stay stress-free and positive as much as possible?
I love Amy Winehouse and lady Gaga ❤️
Amy always be remembered abt her voice and music, not abt her problems. She had a great voice

So humbling of Lady Gaga! Amy is super talented!
I love Gaga but Amy clearly had a lot to learn. And it wasn't true that Amy died from quitting cold turkey, it was over drinking.
