It funny the world keep "under estimating" Bol, since the Dutch championship didnt got a lot of attention in the forcasts while her and Klaver are in top condition. And the chances of something spectacular happening being significant.
Best track and field channel out there, along with Total Running Productions (although I like that you’re not as click-baity, and you say everything the way you see it). Keep up the great work, Jumpman, I’m loving these weekly uploads!
@@hearmenow909 They still bring me all the latest goings on in track and field and stuff, even though it’s clickbaity, at least they have content on track and field in the first place. That’s why I like MOST track and field channels, especially this one!
Trp's titles make me laugh after seeing them so much, but dude is an encyclopaedia on the sport and he clearly loves it. Dudes a big part of me getting into the sport haha
@JumpmanTF He does know his stuff and the titles are funny (but they get clicks so I don't see them as really bad). But the one thing I can't really stand with TRP is how he over hypes Collegiate and High School runners, like they are impressive how quick some of them are but at the same time when you act like them running a WL for an event a month before the professional athletes even start their season, it's not as impressive. The other thing I can't stand is his coverage of Collegiate and High School XC (this is more of a dig at American XC in general), they are running quick but it isn't proper XC but he acts like them running these times on a XC course is amazing when they are more like road races than XC. The NCAA XC was won in a time 1 minute slower than the NCAA track 10000m record, that shouldn't happen in a XC race. At the World XC championships, Jacob Kiplimo ran 40 seconds slower than the NCAA champion while being a top long distance athlete.
Yeah it always amazes me that more people aren’t into track & field. Faith Kipyegon for example last year when she went on that world record spree within a few weeks was one of the best sporting achievements I’ve ever seen, and hardly anyone I know is aware it happened.
I'm also wondering how close Femke can get to Sydney. Her big improvement last year was mostly in her flat speed. Obviously she transitioned to 14 paces from 15 to match what Sydney has been doing, but I doubt she gained much from that, because she was still inexperieced at hurdling with her off leg. It remains to be seen how much her flat speed has improved this season, but there's a reasonable chance that she will be able to lose less time over the hurdles. That said 0.77 seconds is still a big gap to make up to reach Sydney and that's assuming Sydney isn't faster than that this year. Hopefully they are both at full health for Paris.
@@augustusfreeman4032 I've heard nothing really about Sydney this year, but many other UA-cam channels have discussed Sydney competing in the 400mH at Paris. Quite a few have suggested that she may intend to do the flat/hurdles double, but I've no idea if they have sources for that information or whether it is pure speculation.
@@JumpmanTF I'm looking forward to seeing what Femke can do this year. I think the WR will still be a little out of reach, but if her off leg hurdling technique has improved a lot, who knows. I'm really hoping she can go sub 51 at least.
I know it gonna sound crazy, but IMO the weight throw WR is the craziest. Considering all the amazing atheletes who tried to beat it over the years. And the guy beat the WR by HALF A METER. I think it is INSANE.
Dang!! That's Monster Speed for Lyle catching Coleman. What lightening speed and legs he has sharpened!! Now Lyle deserves all those confident boasting... in the good way of course. :)
Feel like the IAAF is turning a blind eye to doping. They'll bust one or two people before the Olympics for appearances but post covid there's been an insane amount of 'progress'. Its giving 80's track and field vibes
I think it has more to do with the new spikes and the pandemic break. but especially the new spikes. when i tried them on for the first time i was noticebly covering the ground much quicker than ever before. the technology is insane, and its only getting better
@@SilentPhoenix__ new spikes have multiple people challenging for records across multiple events in parallel? If Salazars Nike program was doping what do you think everyone else is doing? If Christian Coleman was doping what do you think everyone else is doing? Doing is the dark under belly of track and field and professional sports in general
@@SilentPhoenix__ not denying that spikes are better and tracks are faster being contributors in improved performances but I think doping is way to under explored. Exactly right. There is a reason why records are being broken during an Olympic year, and its not due to harder training. They are on the correct PED cycle and and these results are occurring like clockwork. The records arent the surprising part, the surprise will be if IAAF is able to catch any of them doping. Athletes are always one step ahead of IAAF. They just slip up once in a while.
Thanks for uploading. Very informative! Field and track at this level is unbeatable by any other sport, but ok, my opinion. Did you notice the ease with with Femke Bol broke her own WR? Her coach, Laurent Meuwly (chosen as the best athletic coach in 2023!) said she clearly kept something in reserve for Glasgow end of next week. “If things come together, a third brake of her world record is certainly possible. Tests have pointed out, that Femke improved this winter in all aspects: raw speed, endurance and power.” Femke herself said, that Paris is the time to step out of her comfort zone. Of course she will run the 400 hurdles at the Olympics. Notice, that her transition to 14 steps between the hurdles was initially meant to fully pay off in Paris. Could she beat Sydney McLaughlin Levrone given she as well chooses the hurdles? “I wouldn’t even start if I would think I couldn’t defeat her. But if I loose have given my utmost, I am happy with that.” Earlier she added: “I will stick to my favorite discipline even if that means I will stay second my whole career.”
Lots to add here... the women's 100m in Australia was pedestrian and just shows how much wind assistance has on sprinting. with almost maximum legal headwind, Lewis ran 11.10. the week before and then into -1.5 wind she can barely go under 11.40. Holloway DID NOT SMASH the WR. he broke it barely and it was due to being at altititude. the 300m WB doesnt count either.. both were at high altitude and wouldve missed the WR if at low alt. the women's 60m/h WR has been prime for the taking for some time now too. Olyslagers is no where near a shot at the HJ WR. the only real news was Cameron Myers.
What's Sydney M-L's plans for Paris? Is she going to defend her 400 hurdles title, or will it be the flat 400? Same questions for Femke Bol. It would be great to see that 400m WR finally get beaten, but both women are over a second away from it on current form so it seems unlikely. I guess Salwa Eid Naser has to be in the conversation too, although with her recent two year ban there's a few questions there.
Femke Bol definitely will race the 400H an not dash. Also the 400 relays with her friends and team mates. The hurdles are her favorite discipline and she recently said she would race them always even if that means she would stay second her whole career. In combination with all the heats and semi’s a 400 flat is unrealistic. Of course she will incidentally race the 400 flat, however not in big tournaments.
A couple of throwing performances you missed: at USA’s Chase Jackson set a world lead with 20.02m in the women’s shot put and Erin Reese had the 2nd farthest women’s weight throw of all time at 25.73m. Jessica Schilder sets another new world lead and extends her national record with 20.31m at Dutch nationals. Finally, Zane Weir wins Italian nationals with a throw of 21.69m in the 2nd most competitive country for men’s shot put
