    Just popping up to say how impressed I am with your hard work! Just so interesting to see the flexibility of these little radio's and the many directions that the different firmware versions are going. I could see this being used as a temporary base setup. Stick the handie with a higher gain antenna in the loft and work from your PC! 73

      That's the kind I was using too, I had to install some older drivers to get ti work. Otherwise I just kept getting "THIS IS NOT A PROLIFIC CHIPSET" message in device manager.

      @Rickg6uzt 9 місяців тому

      @@nicsure I always had to do that with the old lead, but then it'd be ok on the Baofeng until next boot. Not so much fun the Quansheng though! It was ok after doing the old chipset driver thing, but it blue screened on the firmware update, bricked the Quansheng! Luckily I managed to recover it after a few attempts at the firmware update on a new lead. Old lead been filed under "B1N"!

    Firstly this is a fantastic bit of software, Well done. One thing i did notice is if you click on a stored frequency that has been named then rotate the tune dial the stored name stays on the screen (could be misleading). Maybe a fix for the future to remove the name from the display with the rotation of the dial. Again many thanks for your hard work and looking forward to the stored scanning feature. 73s.

    Nic, did you see the post by Hayden of Ham Radio DX? Looks like he was able to connect the radio using your software/firmware to his computer using an AIOC cable. These have a sound card in it so it’s another (better?) way to connect instead of making up a specialized cable. Just thought I’d mention it in case you missed it. A number of hams may already have an AIOC. I have one but I need to assemble it - I bought a kit, not fully assembled. Jack N3DNA

    This is fantastic! I've got cables on order so that I can lash something together and start playing with this software! I do have a weird question, and I don't know enough about this level of programming to say whether this would be incredibly difficult or incredibly easy, so...how difficult would it be to interface something like this with a program like, say, GPredict? To where the tracking program could directly control the Quensheng's frequency in order to compensate for Doppler shift during a satellite pass? This is pretty standard fare for SDR receivers, but I don't know how much, if any, similarity there is between what's going on behind your GUI versus an SDR GUI.

    It would be awesome if you could save channels to the computer instead of radio. That way when you have the radio hooked up to the computer you could program unlimited channels instead of just 200 the radio provides. Also thank you so much for your hard work thus far. 👍

    • @nicsure
      @nicsure  9 місяців тому

      I did look into that and it's trickier than you might think. Plus it would confuse some people between radio channels and application channels and I'd likely get "bug" reports of channels programmed into the app not being on the radio. The biggest problem with implementing that is that the dock is essentially just a remote keyboard and display, there'd be no way to access the extra channels without actual firmware hooks. The XVFO is different and that can have unlimited channels, but of course is still under development.

    Great updates as usuall. Thanx for all the efforts. If I may ask, when I am in the normal first "window", ie: Quansheng Dock v0.29.0q, and I listen to the FM Broadcast, say, 102.000, it plays nice and clear. However when I open up the XVFO, and select same frequency, with FM, and Wide, it is very noisy? I tried all Bandwidth, and Mode types, but it is not as clear as the normal one. Possible to test on your side, when time allows. Many thanx. Again, look forward always to you updates.

    • @nicsure

      I've never been able to listen to the FM band in normal mode, it's a mess for me. Bandwidth is however far more variable than the stock firmware gives you options for so an "Ultra Wide" mode might solve that. I'll be experimenting this afternoon.
