Another OG story…I know Roy Yamaguchi from his early days. He worked at the Sheraton Grande at LAX. From there he opened his first restaurant called 385 North on Beverly Hills Restaurant Row. His.385 North Restaurant was the backdrop for a scene in the original Beverly Hills Cop! They turned his restaurant into a gentleman’s club! My wife and I honeymooned in Hawaii in 1984 and had a memorable dinner at his first Roy’s in Hawaii Kai! So Roy and I go way back to small beginnings! Glad you guys had date night at his Waikiki restaurant. Mahalo for the memories!👍
Thanks for this restaurant recommendation and menu suggestions. We just finished our dinner and absolutely loved it. It was so good. I ordered the butterfish, my husband ordered Roy’s tri which had the butterfish and the macadamia nut fish, plus a salmon dish. He loved all 3. For dessert we had the pineapple upside down cake, which was amazing.
Believe it or not, I have never been to any of the Roy's in Hawaii. But, I have been to the one on Mission St. in San Francisco many, many times. That was the go to place for all kinds of occasions. The butterfish at Roy's is the best I have ever had. He takes any local dish and raises it a few levels. Eye balls and the cheek are very good. What a bummer, lava cake was over baked. No mo lava!
thanks for sharing , Roy just received the CIA Leadership Augie Award 2022 , he's the most humble Chef to work for.... he opened in 1994 here @ Spanish Bay Inn , I was his best food runner , he tought me so so much.... And you 2 are an awesome duo , thanks A&F......
They will do the ribs as an entrée if you ask. Swordfish is very easy to overcook and it will be dry. That looked perfectly done. Pineapple Foster looked delish....Well done vid!
We appreciate all your reviews and shots of yummy food. We are heading to Oahu and will arrive on Thanksgiving day this year 2021. Do you have any ideas for dinner near Marriott resort and spa Waikiki? Looking for Island feel and sunset. Turkey dinner not required.
Was this Roy’s outting a special occasion? Love the sunset at the end, always melts my heart! Love the bloopers, always makes me laugh! Love the dessert segment, it keeps me wanting more! Love da most…. The Aloha you share on UA-cam!! Much mahalo! Praying for a speedy 100% recovery for Felix!!! Take care!!! 👍🏿😀💕
Another great video. Roy’s is one of our favorite restaurants to go to in Hawaii. It’s a shame the molten lava cake wasn’t as “flowing”, but I bet it was still really good. It’s a special place for us as my family and I celebrated my engagement to my fiancee there. Mahalo and keep up the great videos!
You can never go wrong with fish at Roy’s. Celebrated many happy birthdays there. Thanks for bringing back some sweet memories. Yes! Yes, Yes! Fish eyes and fish head too. As always thanks Amanda&Felix. Speedy recovery Felix.😘
Amanda and Felix: A million mahalo's to both of you. We just got home to Chicago from spending almost 2 weeks on Oahu, and thanks to both of you, it was a great foodie trip as well. We never heard of "chicken long rice" till we saw one of your videos, and we had that at a Highway Inn. Delicious! We saw your video at Ewa beach, and we gladly found it. We saw that there was a Shiro Saimin nearby, and remembering that from one of your vlog, we had lunch there. Easily one of the best food we had during our trip. The broth was spectacular! I did come across Roy's while we were staying in Waikiki, but as you've mentioned in this vlog, they are busy and we didn't get to make a reservation in advance. Maybe next time. Both of you, and Yvonne as well, are doing a tremendous service not just to us, but also to the local businesses on Oahu. I can personally testify that there were a lot of things we did that were directly inspired by your vlogs. We hope to come back to the Hawaiian islands in a couple of years. I miss it already! - Zeke.
We are so glad we made a difference in your trip Zeke! We hope you get to visit Hawaii again real soon and experience even more epic Foodie outings and our island! Take care and Mahalo for supporting us! 🙏 🤙
Love y'all showcasing local grindz and those in this video look super onolicious. But I have to say. For those that don't live there and just visiting. Every night is Date Night in Hawaii. On another note. Many years ago my 5 and 4 year old girls loved watching Disney's The Little Mermaid and both would point to the screen at Ariel and proclaim and argue "I'm her! No I'm her!" Well, the fact is. Amanda is her! And Felix is the prince. God bless y'all and aloha and mahalo!
Great sharing of a incredible at Roys.....special celebrations at Roys are elevates the occasion! Huge fan of Roys and exquisite miso-butterfish. Mahalo for encouraging locals to support restaurants that are reviving Hawaii's agriculture focus. Cracked up when Felix was talking while Amanda ate the whole fish plate...LOL. Hey Felix, be adventures and dunk the "cosmetic" asparagus-spears in the sauce and eat ur veggies;) Roys is renowned for their blending of their unique sauces. Always looking forward to viewing A&F awesome Foodie-videos!
Great review of Roy's! I celebrated my 50th birthday there in July of 2010, my very first trip to Hawaii! If I remember right, I had a delicious prawn dish and then they presented me with a decorated plate with a yummy chocolate cake triangle with raspberry sauce! Loved the food, the staff and the atmosphere and would love to return there some day!
Really love Roy's and even celebrated my birthday at that Roy's in Waikiki a couple of years ago. We celebrate our anniversary every year at the Roy's at Pebble Beach in California except for the last couple of years due to the pandemic. Misoyaki butterfish is my favorite there, but their bento box at lunchtime is great, too. Chocolate lava cake...the best!
I love butterfish! My cousin used to take me to a Korean hostess bar that had the best miso butterfish and the little sushi chef in the corner was great too!
Roy's top notch food looked so delicious thanks for taking us along with you all even the martinis looked 🔥 Amanda did look rosey in the cheeks...great video guys
I really enjoyed this presentation. I am not sure about going out to Waikiki during the rising Covid cases but when the numbers drop back down, I will definitely check this place out. Your videos are awesome. Too bad Yvonne could not join you. I’m a teacher too and it’s been a rough start at the beginning of the school year.
Thank You Amanda & Felix can't wait to visit Roy's I'd like try everything you ordered YUMMY LOVE and GOD BLESS You Both ALOHA Always Chrissy Honolulu Hi 💜💙💜💙💜💙💜💙💜💙💜💙
Great recommendation for this place! Definitely going to check it out when we visit in October. Btw, the reason there wasn’t a ‘lava flow’ on that chocolate dessert was because it’s a soufflé and not a chocolate lava cake.
Enjoyed this video never been to Roy's. I loved all the dishes my kind of elevated food. This was a vicarious and guilty pleasure as I haven't been to any fancy restaurants sinch covid. Mahalo and Aloha.
Love Roy’s at koolina! Impossible to have a bad fish dish! . You guys are doing great!! Really like the back story on Roy’s community involvement! Go local! Hope Felix is doing well! Aloha 😎🤙🏾
We just came back from Honolulu and ate at Roy’s. Your comments are spot. We had all the same dishes as you did. We even had the same waiter as you did. Superb food, excellent service and great ambiance. Can’t wait to go back when we are next in Honolulu. Mahalo to everyone at Roy’s.
I’ve always wanted to try Roy’s!! Felix your so right about the soybean. I CAN eat a whole bucket of that without knowing 😝 Everything looks so ʻono as always!!
That would kill my mood in an instance too. So sad that parents nowadays don´t introduce public manners anymore. Or even worse tow their toddlers to (for them) boring dinner venues.
Roy's used to be our favorite too. Unfortunately recently it has become too "family friendly". If I want an enjoyable evening, I don't want a child's birthday in the room.
If you’re creating videos to inform people of what to eat and how the food that you’re eating tastes as well as what’s on the plate, you might want to learn about what you’re eating first before you try to inform your viewers. You “literally” have a menu right next to you, yet you sound like you’re guessing at what you’re putting in your mouth. It’s almost like you just love to hear yourselves talk.

Such an awesome back story with Roy Yamaguchi! We've had so many lovely dinners at Roys in Hawaii Kai too🤙🏼
The food looks so good! I'm traveling there in a few months and I'm putting this place down as one of the dinner spots! Thanks for sharing!
Out of the 6 times I’ve been to Waikiki; ROY’s is my ALL TIME FAVORITE RESTAURANT !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Keep living the dream guys

What a bummer, lava cake was over baked. No mo lava!
Love his innovative local dishes, so ono😋 next time we’ll cut into the lava cake sooner to get the lava action😆
thanks for sharing , Roy just received the CIA Leadership Augie Award 2022 , he's the most humble Chef to work for.... he opened in 1994 here @ Spanish Bay Inn , I was his best food runner , he tought me so so much....
And you 2 are an awesome duo , thanks A&F......
Original Roy's was sensational. Family went there to celebrate my daughter's UH graduation 2020.
The presentations of each dishes 🍽😍 The sunset at the end is just priceless!
Awesome way to end dinner 🙂
They will do the ribs as an entrée if you ask. Swordfish is very easy to overcook and it will be dry. That looked perfectly done. Pineapple Foster looked delish....Well done vid!
It sure was! Everything was ono😋
Love your vlog, make me miss Hawaii
Wow guys the food looks great and you two clean up nice see yall in the next one

Great video guys and looks amazing delicious🤙🏽🤙🏽
I love all of your foodie videos but I need to know your skincare and makeup products Amanda! Always looking flawless!!
Maybe a make up tutorial? 🤔 😅Mahalo for watching! 💕🤙
Total healthy eating ! This place should be number one to visit with friends and family to show how classy Hawaiians really are

Oooh we’ve been wanting to try there!
Where should we park when heading to Roy's for dinner. Is there any free parking closeby. Heading there in an hour 😅
We love Roy’s!!!
Love Roy’s. We’ve tried all 3 locations and the original Hawaii Kai location is our favorite.
Ours too!
You can never go wrong with fish at Roy’s. Celebrated many happy birthdays there. Thanks for bringing back some sweet memories. Yes! Yes, Yes! Fish eyes and fish head too. As always thanks Amanda&Felix. Speedy recovery Felix.😘

I agree, esp Amanda
