I never iPhone vlog with front camera. Throw the Moment wide lens on the main rear camera sensor and you’ll always be in frame with MUCH better quality.
I tend to agree with you however the amount of times I did this and I'd touched the screen or the power button and stopped recording! Also the iPhone battery runs out fast when you are recording video.
If it was just about the cameras I would definitely choose the ZV-1F. I thought ZV-1F had better audio and it seemed like the iPhones lighting was overexposed.
Catalyst Browse does look amazing but I gave up the a7c because of that app lol it took so long it drove me nuts! Love how great the a7iv stabilization is. I usually pick my iPhone though because of size and stability. I got the iPhone 14 pro and am loving it :)
The ZV-1F is half the price of an iPhone, and doesn't ring while you're shooting a video. It's built for vlogging and videos, and it does that very well. Still many prefer to spend over $1K for an iPhone every two years.
you did great work jason morris. i love the footage coming out from zv-1F. In low light i can say sony zv-1f have an advantage and more control than i-phone. keep it up good work.
ZV-1F but the 720p stream over USB-C is just low resolution, for things like Riverside you really need 1080p minimum and 4K as an option so the ZV-1F really needs to be paired with an HDMI to USB capture device such as Blackmagic ATEM or an Elgato interface . . . . .
That was my thing. My 13 pro shoots great videos for my tech review. But I’m tired of the extra steps of mirroring to my MacBook to see what its record. With the ZV-1F I can just grab it and shoot instantly
The iPhone is even better as a webcam though and even easier to setup than using USB-C. You just connect to the mac wirelessly with continuity camera. Throw in the portrait mode and it looks amazing as long as you don't move around a lot.
I’d likely go with the ZV1, however, if I were to get one of the ZV cameras, the best one I’d want to get is the one I can hand over to my mom and she’d be able to use it with little to no explanation. Awesome comparison!
@@JasonMorrisphotocinema agreed! The kinda serious camera, than can do kinda serious things, but can kinda be the camera that is simple enough to where anyone can use it! The all around camera that you grab when you don’t want to use your serious camera, or your iPhone. The middle ground camera lol!
As good as the image could get on phone, it can’t never be your main camera there just too many other things we need to do in our phones. There would be many distractions or the it would just be unavailable to shoot, and it has no replaceable battery. It would be to compromising unless you have a 2nd phone, but at that point just get a dedicated camera.
Lately I've been thinking about just using an iPhone as a dedicated camera. There's no cameras as small, light, and capable as it. The form factor alone I think makes it worth considering. Plus it can edit the photos / videos which isn't possible on a dedicated camera.
The hate is because every UA-camr promotes every single Sony release. I really wonder what the financial situations are with Sony and UA-camrs, as it seems over the top lately. No other brand gets this type of constant press.
Hey Jason, is it possible to attach Ulanzi WL-3 to ZV-1F? Maybe can use a step-up ring adapter from 40.5mm to 52mm. What's your opinion? So far, I haven't seen any reviewers trying this combination yet. Thanks in advance.
Imo Just attach a lil mirror to ur ph case for rear camera vlogging, don't waste time with this zv1fail, was looking forward to this camera but it's a bust very disappointing.. hopefully zv2 will slap✌🏽
I dont see it as a flop at all. Yes daylight video will be very similar between the 2, if not slightly better on the iPhone due to processing. But depth of field, audio, low light will all be better on the Sony. And that is 3 areas that really do matter to content creators
10bit isn’t needed for basic shooters. A bit overkill for most people creating for Instagram and tik tok and online streaming which this is targeted for
This camera is not understood at all, it has no ability to compete with a smartphone, so it is not worth the investment. I guess that smartphones with a small rear display screen will be released soon, which will actually solve the problem of vloggers and kill the strange cameras that exist today, it's just cheeky that there are companies like that that launch clearly non-competitive products.
It has all right to be placed against a smart phone. This clearly isn’t for you. As stated in the video it’s for people who want a quick point and shoot camera. The Sony ZV-1 that was released before this is a massive high seller
Poor dynamic range and that’s against 13 pro not 14. Low light iPhone much better, stability and lens angle different class. Not to mention we carry phone always and is less bulky, much less. Absolutely no point to get zv, none whatsoever. Point and shoot cameras idea is… point shoot and not need to edit in catalyst later as video looks garbage shaky.
@@JasonMorrisphotocinema I think v loggers will edit so they not a target for this kind of camera as you can get small but still much better camera options. It’s hard as it is to justify more expensive cameras from this lineup compared to phone tbh - ZE10 maybe with interchangeable lenses but suffers from other issues which make it bad for videos on the move. Hence big downside for supposedly vlog camera. You can get better and smaller action camera with 1” sensor that will beat this one. To me it’s just bad business decision, whoever buys it will regret it quickly enough. Dead on arrival.
Agree, big cons with all pro cameras now, they don't implement software bases Ai like iPhone. I'm have sony a7s III and iPhone 12 PM. For social media content mostly i use iPhone, i just dont want deal with extra gear i have to carry and bulk. My sony a7s III only get use when i do paid job. As for this new sony ZV-1F honestly not impressed, as for dynamic range and flexibility iPhone way better IMHO. And for my needs, i don't want to deal with catalyst browse just to stabilize my image, i want stabilized image that already done inside the camera (iPhone did this very well) I've seen apple commisioned video that showcasing film maker creates film just using an iPhone and the result is mind blowing that they could achived filmic look.
@@njet212 with the rise of phone photography dslrs are mainly for professionals who require extra performance in any conditions. There would be a place for good point and shoot if they would be better than phones, but worse than phones, are they serious? Nah uh
@@whitecrowuk575 yes, IMHO for someone who just started as content creator i think in many ways iPhone would be perfect tools to start with. With an iPhone you can edit straight away inside the phone using Lightroom (photo) and capcut/vn (video). On the other hand creating content using point and shoot camera, would required laptop / pc to edit the content, which is required extra money if don't have decent PC/Laptop. If the camera company does not implement Ai Based software on their point and shoot camera, i think the market for point and shoot will be shrinking significantly in the future or even dead.
As they say the best camera is the one you have with you, and for that, smartphones pretty much annihilate the point ane shoot industry. With the 14 Pro, the P&S industry, despite a small comeback, is going to be once again clobbered out of relevance.
