One more project knocked off the list this week 👏🏻 Have you installed thin brick before? I'm obsessing over how AWESOME the wall and fireplace surround look! Be sure to comment and let us know if you'd install a brick accent wall in your own home.
I’m installing the brick in a rental property this month .. it looks amazing ! The amount says 5 sheets , would you happen to know how many boxes I might need for a standard living room wall ? Also the fireplace
That's exciting Amanda! I wouldn't dare try to guess how many boxes you'd need. 😬 I would hate to give you incorrect information! You can do a google search for help calculating the exact amount for your space. Then plan to purchase an extra 10% for waste. Hope that helps, and good luck with your project!
This looks so good. You are amazing! Keep up the good work.
Thank you! It's all coming along. Glad this one is finished, but I do LOVE how it turned out!
Great job. It looks fantastic 😍
Thanks for watching! Glad this one is behind us and I can sit back and enjoy the final look! 😅
It looks so good! Nice job!
Thanks so much! I seriously LOVE how it turned out! And I'm also so glad its finished 😅
Amazing work! I can't wait to do the same thing to my kitchen.
Let us know how it goes! It's a lot more work than I was anticipating, but I'm SO glad we did it! The end result speaks for itself.
This room is absolutely beautiful! You are so talented !
Thanks so much Barbara! I'm ready for a long winters nap! 😅🤣🥱
Looks beautiful
Thanks so much Amanda! It really does make a big statement in our room!
Nice job 👍
Thanks so much we really appreciate you taking the time to leave a kind comment! Have a great day!
Nice work 👍
You're so sweet! ❤️ Thank YOU!
Any time! 🙌🏻
Great job!! I do not believe you could have started the thin brick web layer from top to the bottom because the web needs to rest on something sturdy; otherwise it could slide down as you are applying the mortar on the wall for the next web sheet!! Also, I would like to suggest you to wear an appropriate face mask once sanding a painted wall, especially if you are dealing with a lead-base painted wall!!
Thanks again for sharing!!
That's a great point, thanks for bringing that up. Luckily the paint was lead free, but you're right, I should be wearing a mask. 😳
It looks so good!! I am bricking around my fireplace but my bricks did not come on a webbed backing, what is the spacing between your bricks?
Thanks so much for watching! Sorry for the slow response. If you're still working on your fireplace the spacing was about 1/4" The bricks were glued on the mesh backing and weren't perfect or equal, but this added to the old world look and feel with slight imperfections. Although spacing is important, if it's not perfect, it will make it look awesome anyway. Hope that helps.
Can you tell us more about the seal you used at the end? What brand, etc.? Did you paint or roll it on?
Great question Colleen! You'll want to use an impregnator sealer, this is the brand that we've been recommend to use buy the pros. It's much better quality and really easy to work with! rstyle.me/+9K37UYt1oEiLXK6dXoLqAg
You can apply it with a large sponge to really press the sealer into the brick.

Is the surface you are working on a dry-wall? I have seen different views on the web if thin brick is too heavy or not for a dry-wall in the long term.
Applying directly to dry-wall would make much easier in my case, but as this will be the wall of my bed, I am worried to have all the dry-wall with bricks falling on my head while I sleep!
Any info from you I would be happy to read! Thanks and great work!
Great question Diego! Yes we're installing the thin brick right on top of our drywall per the manufacturer's directions. We did scuff the wall with an 80 grit sandpaper first so the mortar would have a little more to grab on to. I was a little hesitant about installing over drywall too, but I watched some videos from Old Mill Brick (which is the thin brick we used) and they do install it right on top of drywall. So I figure it's ok. I don't blame you worrying if the brick will fall off while you sleep!
@@2thesunnyside thanks for taking the time answering me :)
You bet! Hope it helps! Good luck with your project. 🙌🏻
How did you get outlet and switch covers over to the electrical stuff since it looks like it was set back a little bit
Great question! Yes, if we had thought of that before drywall was installed we would've had them set out farther. Since we overlooked that detail, we used spacers to bring the electrical units forward. amzn.to/4666Zgr
Nice! Thanks!!
Do I need wonder board cement
You could use that. We installed directly over Sheetrock. The old mill brick we used had directions for installing on drywall
Is the wall that you installed the brick painted? I’m attempting a similar project and was advised to sand the paint down as much as possible before applying the mortar which has been a huge pain. Any advice would be much appreciated!
Great question Geoffrey! Yes, the wall was painted prior to brick installation. You can see how we added some grip to the wall in our video at 2:30 It wasn't too hard, more annoying than anything. You don't need to sand a ton off, just enough to create that "grip" for the mortar. Hope that helps.
@@2thesunnyside did you have any issue with the brick sliding off the wall with the mortar you used?
That's a great question. We've seen others struggle with this during installation. We didn't have any issues with the bricks moving at all. Once the bricks were in position, we firmly pressed them into the mortar and they stayed put.
@2thesunnyside thanks for this video... you guys made it look so easy! I too am attempting this myself & worried about the Acrylic Pro adhesive being strong enough not to sag before drying... did it really only take 24 hrs to dry?
@2thesunnyside
Which color/style Old Mill brick did you use
Great question! We used Highland. rstyle.me/+K42kwsPJ_QgXwJQm1Fb7sA THANKS for watching!
Is premixed grout any good?
Yes! We've used it on other projects. Sometimes it can cost more, but it can be worth it if you're looking to save time
What kind of sealer did you use to seal it after?
We used this 👉🏻 amzn.to/3SfFInN
What is the name of this brick so I can match it up?
We used the highland brick. You can find more info here homedepot.sjv.io/5g7Lv1
What is the design of these bricks. I love them but can’t find this particular brick. I’m going to brick a wall in the bedroom. Great job!
We used the Highland brickwebb by Old Mill Brick. You can find it here. rstyle.me/+K42kwsPJ_QgXwJQm1Fb7sA
I've LOVED having it in our home! The bricks are randomly a little different thickness which makes it look even more like an old brick wall!
Looks fantastic
Thanks so much! Do you have any brick walls in your home? If not, where would you want to install one?
