  • Testing the 2021 Sherco 300sef on a difficult and challenging trial. While I feel my two stroke is better suited for this kind of terrain the four stroke did pretty well through the roots, rocks and ruts. So far this bike is doing well in all conditions and would be a great pick for someone wanting a four stroke as an all-around enduro machine.

Great video. I like my four stroke and have it set up to do a little of everything.

Maybe u can ride the same terrain first in a 2 and then on a 4 stroke and put footage together. Would be interesting.

I was switching back and forth between 2 & 4 stroke as I was doing both enduro and trail riding - then I ended up with both a KTM 250 2-stroke and 250 4-stroke at the same time ! I took them both to an enduro practice day and rode them back to back for the day ….. then sold the 4-stroke !
I raced enduro for a few years and the 2 stroke was much better in woods, but now I am old and body broken 🤣 I am going to get another 4-stroke just for light trails and thinking the Sherco 300 looks perfect 👍

Im so impressed with how well these 300sef’s do in this kind of trail, not maybe as easy as 2T is stop start situations but play the clutch well and the traction in unreal

I'm turning 60 soon and retiring into a toy hauler. I used to ride techy woods a lot in Washington. (Walker Valley, Cle Elum, etc) I think I am going with the Beta Xtrainer. I really want to do trails like this again, and I favor slow and technical over fast. I'm the same on my mountain bike(which is what I am riding currently) I have climbed rocky steep stuff and had guys less than half my age asking me how I did it, as they walked their bike up the hill. You might lose the will to hang it out there and risk injury when you age, but you don't necessarily lose your technical bike handling ability.

As someone who owned one of those in the past, that was very impressive; especially how you were able to get it rolling again once it stalled and got stuck!

Deadly trail.. last time I was on the endurocross track at popkum there was a guy cleaning everything there on a kx450.. he was hitting everything so hard and showing 110% commitment it was really impressive lol..

You did great on the 4 stroke , just a little more work. Ya the 2 strokes are more fun in the kind of trail riding. I like your videos, good information. And yes we like see bikes in all kind of trails. Most just go 90 miles an hour, say how great the bike is. Nice to see this kind of trail. Keep up the the great work.

You definitely give the clutch a good workout on a 4T in the singletrack. It does get tiring on the arms with the clutch work so I find myself taking lots of breaks (I'm an old geezer too so that's a factor). For me the small 4T (a 250 EXCF) is the best all-around bike for the variety of terrain I like to ride, plus being decent on the road to get to the trails, and 160km range on stock tank. I know a 2T would be less tiring in the ST but for overall use I'm sticking with the 4T. Never overheats in the slow stuff...and I do a lot of slow stuff.

Yeah I had same experience when I tested one, stalls as easy as the KTM 350, that's why I never got one and went for the yz. Also it's starts hard, I have that issue with my yz250fx sometiemes, that's a 4t downside.. But if you don't stall it's great yamaha stalls a lot less... Find one try it.. You will be amazed...

@@vegasromaniac I got a xcf-w 350. And it’s amazing. I just gotta feather the clutch a bit more compare to my old bike. But I already got used to it so it don’t bother me lol

Well said. I run an XCF350 and I love it BUT to ride super narrow challenging single track I added a flywheel weight and geared it lower. I love the challenge it provides as I have to learn to think ahead.

Thank you for taking a 4 stroke in the hard/ tight terrain....as an older rider thinking on what bike I should get next, I often think about 4 strokes because of their planted feel and lack of abrupt power. Always lean towards a 2 stroke for the tight northern Michigan trails, but wonder on how a 4 stroke would do here. Very much enjoy your channel.

So is everyone just going to ignore the shovel at 8:12? Is that for emergency trail repair? Do you guys normally leave equipment laying on the side of the trails?

Yes we do, community tools, everyone is encouraged to pitch in but generally respected and managed by local club. Strong culture in these trails ✊

I just bought one and have read that the stock gearing is a little tall for tight trails

Do you find the four stroke more tiring to ride than your two stroke in that type of terrain?

    • @PNWEnduro
      @PNWEnduro  3 роки тому

Not really but it's not a long trail. A whole day of this would be more tiring I think.
