2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee : rumored to get 2.0-liter four as base engine

The Jeep Grand Cherokee helped create the contemporary SUV in the 1990s and is a prominent participant in today's highly competitive industry. The current generation model was debuted for the 2022 model year and will most likely be refreshed in 2025. Jeep provides the current Grand Cherokee with a regular wheelbase and five seats, as well as the three-row long-wheelbase Grand Cherokee L and the 4xe plug-in hybrid (both reviewed separately). Other midsize SUVs with off-road capabilities are the Subaru Outback and Toyota 4Runner. Unless a new powerplant is released, Jeep will once again equip the 2025 Grand Cherokee with a single engine: a 3.6-liter naturally aspirated V-6 producing 293 horsepower and 260 pound-feet torque. All variants get an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Rear-wheel drive is normal, although all-wheel drive is available. Jeep provides extra performance equipment for both on- and off-road use, including an available rear limited-slip differential, two available transfer cases, and an optional air suspension that adds 2.5 inches of ground clearance for a total of 10.9 inches. In our tests, a Jeep Grand Cherokee with all-wheel drive went from 0 to 60 mph in 7.3 seconds. The EPA estimates fuel efficiency to be 19/26 mpg city/highway in 2024. The maximum towing capacity is 6,200 pounds.The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe has its own review, but the plug-in hybrid SUV has a more efficient drivetrain than the gasoline-only model's naturally aspirated "Pentastar" V-6. It has a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, an eight-speed automatic transmission, a motor-generator, an electric motor integrated into the gearbox, a 17.3-kWh battery, and all-wheel drive. Total system output is 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. The driving range is 470 miles, and the battery pack can be recharged in less than three hours using a Level 2 charger. Level 1 charging completes that work in 12 hours. An improved variant is slated to debut alongside the 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee facelift.
