This part two of a four part series in which i attempt to build a fancy epoxy slab table in my garage with fairly basic woodworking tools, and no experience building a table, let alone a 10 foot conference table. in this video,
i use a massive router bit and a jig i made myself to flatten the slab, and then I build a mold to pour the epoxy into. i use melamine, house wrap tape, caulk and screws to build the mold. i seal the slab, so that the dye in the epoxy does not damage it. from there, i could place the table in the mold and secure it down. after that, it was time to pour the epoxy. this is way harder than it looks on the internet, and i ended up staying up all night fighting with the epoxy to keep it all from leaking out. it was very unpleasant. I failed to document this part very well, mainly because i was panicked and trying to stop this unstoppable liquid, but also because I was extremely tired and all i wanted to do was curl up in your arms and fall asleep.

You must wait. You don't have any other options. Things do take a turn for the better though 🙂

You are correct about those lines being normal. Just remember “Knowing trees, I understand the meaning of patience. Knowing grass, I can appreciate persistence.” -Hal Borland

A good cliff hanger for sure.

Haha yeah. Or maybe just a lack of planning beforehand that lead to it abruptly being cut off.... 🤔😉

It’s a right of passage to watch in horror as epoxy slowly and relentlessly oozes from your form despite every effort to stop it.

Dude! You scare the S%^& out of me with how you do some things. Your really need to put some thought into how you use your circular saw and your table saw. Regardless, may I suggest using FOUR side walls and NOT just 3 for a pour? Then use silicon for ALL seams and not latex caulking. Finally, TAPE all your seams after the silicon dries.

Haha, If my conduct in this video scares you, you should see my videos from like a year ago. Or better yet watch me use a chainsaw!! Or a blender.
As for the four walls, you may suggest that, and I fact I wish you had!! , but unfortunately the customer wanted one live edge, and this was the only way I could think of to get the job done. As for caulk and tape, thanks for the insight, I definitely did skimp on that this time, and I learned my lesson. Cheers!

Russel, I enjoyed your secret message hidden in the caps. I’ve thought long and hard about FOUR NOT ALL TAPE and I’m looking forward to the day when I figure out what it means. You’re kind of scaring me with how you did that
