Find the batteries we have gone for here (eco tree lithium)

So this week it's all about power!! Specifically Lithium power as we upgrade our DIY campervan electrical system to include eco tree lithium batteries!
During our van build, the campervan electrical system was the hardest thing i had to get my head around but one thing I definitely understand about building any off grid van or motorhome is the constant need for power!
Hopefully in this video I can cover, in understandable terms, why lithium batteries are more efficient, will charge quicker, are extremely safe AND, importantly to us, so so much lighter.. every kilo counts in a self built campervan!
If you are struggling for power or wish to stay off grid for longer then I'd definitely consider making the switch, these lithium batteries are charging from limited solar (grey British weather) much quicker than our old AGMs ever did and if you are at the start of your build or modifying and existing motorhome then we can't recommend these enough!
Follow us on our journey as we attempt to create a proper UA-cam travel series as we, two female travelers drive across Europe (breakdowns and pandemics permitting)
Hit the subscribe button to see where our little tiny home on wheels takes us next and how we cope living in a van!

As a retired swedish ww2 hero I want to add to the story: We should be thankful and grateful to Norway since most of the nature in the form of scenery, soil / stones and wildlife etc has drifted from the Norwegian hills and mountains to form what today is called sweden. Not many mention this fact - but we should do more to show gratitude toward Norway and the norwegian people. And we should also finally admit that the vikings originally came from Norway (and later spread to sweden and denmark).
Oh and by the way, me and my family have had an awful year, much trauma, grief and loss, but you ladies have lifted my spirits and given me smiles and laughs that you will never ever realise how much of a positive loving difference you have made, so thank you from the bottom of my heart xxxxxxxxxx
Hey Sue, we are super glad we could bring a little laughter to you all, sending virtual hugs
Out of all the vans you showed, I liked Fanny the most!
I am almost a battery expert, and you did a perfect job describing the pro's of Lithium batterys, the only slight downside is that they don't like to be chaged in freezing conditions, but inside a van like yours that's not a problem, and for those with the batterys in an outside compartment, there are battery heaters that kick in if there is a charge and the batterys are too cold, then it uses the initial charge to heat the batterys, and then they are just fine
Now this! Only yesterday put deposit on a my very first budget campervan trying to be clever with next spends! So thanking you 🙌
I didn't want the video to end because I didn't want to leave all those lovely camper vans. You two provided an interesting interlude as well as contrast to the thunder and lightening going on outside my window as I type. ( For this ) I'm grateful!
Glad we could be of assistance, there were some very lovely vans
New Tony's for Fanny. Nice.
(Tony Slattery's)
😂🤣 Good old set of slatterys, cheers Bobby 😁👍
Love your program we are in Australia 🇦🇺 I think you would love travelling over here if you ever get the chance we are from the UK 🇬🇧 and my partner is from Kent take care and safe travels 🙂
Emily 😅 Lou 🤘. Inspirational. ❤️🏴
Banging! I flipping love my lithium’s 😁😁👍🏻👍🏻
Cheers dazza, ours have been brilliant so far 😁😁👍
KUDOS for another great share and video! You two are too cute having fun at Motorhome place! AMAZING to me the variety and stock of units there! We do not have many of the smaller options Emily showed, and certainly none with manual transmissions on this side of the pond :( HAD to laugh at the thought of how many more Snickers and snacks Emily will be able to carry :) You are right in that the new Lithiums are much better and should be a great investment, as Lou mentions and the underslung LP tank.. saving in not so long run, and greater abilites to keep you going longer... All the BEST to both of you and AJ! Cheers :)
Thanks marty, it seems everything your side of the pond is bigger lol!!
It's funny because most things over here have manual transmission, far less available in auto. Thanks so much for watching 😁👍
When Louise is gone when we're old.....🤣😂🤣 good to see you both this weekend & AJ 😃 x
😁😁 Well I totally would have one 😂😂
I want a fanny. I want travelling in a van on my bucket list but, I can rarely make outside. Your van is the best. Take care.
We do love our van and hopefully you can at least enjoy ours and others trips 😊
👍👍👌✌🙏💖💖😊Thank you for this , the small camper definitely suited Em , big saving on weight and space plus a positive upgrade , ATB Em , Lou and AJ
It has been very good to be fair 👍
Great, informative, presentation ladies. I loved Emm’s nosey around the other vans too. Top camera work and editing too, It doesn’t go un noticed. Thanks Ladies. Big thumbs up on that one.
Thanks Shane, lou does spend a lot of time on the vids 🙂🙂
One of my favourite occupations, looking, looking around motorhomes, campervans and caravans! Terrific video, the little van is ideal for you Emily!!
I loved it, bloody great way to spend an afternoon
Great blog guy's, I've been looking to upgrade my whole electrical system. Found this really helpful thank you.👍
Thanks Veronica, glad you found it of use 😁😁👍
Best batteries out there!
Very wise decision to go Lithium. Never seen my 300Ah battery drop below 90% even with the inverter running the coffee machine and microwave a few times a day. A lot of money, yes. But worth every penny👍
Agreed 😁😁 thanks so much for watching 😁👍
Hey ladies, love the vids. Fitted a lithium in our van. Never looked back. Always plenty of power👍👍
Thanks Sean, we are loving ours too 😁👍
I was hoping Em was going to do a 2 minute tour of a van but she might have missed the oven if she was rushing.
A fully charged vlog as usual 😉
😂🤣😂 She would have probably missed most of the van if rushing lol!! Thanks for watching 😁👍
UA-cam gold, always make us laugh out load.... great to see you preping fanny for future adventures whenever they may arrive... safe travels hope new work arrangement working out ok with you...
Cheers Glen, totally looking forward to them adventures, yeah its going well so far 😀
Another great vid. These Lithium batteries really sound like a good investment for Fanny. Great to see A. J. out and about too.
Yeah, he is loving being back in the van more now, yeah we think they are a good change 😁
Always love a good look around a van. Perhaps stick to one of the small Romahome types though Emily as Lou would loose you in the bigger ones 🤣 thanks girls, have a great week 😊
😂🤣 I sure would lose her, perhaps intentionally lol!! Thanks guys 😁👍
You just doubled your amp hrs. Awesome. The difference in weight and usable amps is massive. Lithium’s can even be installed on their sides. After the stated cycles lithium generally goes down to 80% chargeable but still have a lot of life left. Years actually. Just a few small changes for the upgrade and Bob’s your aunt! Congrats! I don’t like any of those vans or motor homes as much as I love Fanny. Cheers from Canader eh!
Hi Susan, thank you 😁😁 you're not wrong about the weight, what we have saved is crazy!! And yes, only a couple of setting changes and we were good to go 😁😁 thanks so much for watching, hope all is well in Canada right now 🇨🇦😁👍
Thks lou. Really helpful. Another spot on bit of viewing there em. Nice one girls. 🤙😁
Our pleasure Janet 😊
It's nice to watch you guys as one of the previous comments said your antics cheer people up sadly I like them had a loss and after dealing with everything (I hate paperwork now sadly executor of the Will) watching you guys cheers me up, friends keep telling me that after ten years as a full time carer (family ) take some time for myself now.
So after watching you guys I have been looking at a few options sadly one could prove a little difficult because it is a Korean built campervan based on the Ssangyong Musso long wheelbase double cab pickup truck where they have taken the load bed of and put body on the back the snack bandit would love the bedroom (you say she's short might be able to stand up) above the cab plus she would get a complete kitchen with small washing machine and shower room the issue is their website is all in Korean and I cannot find if they will deal in Europe.
Main benefits after watching the video basically go where no normal camper can go so wild camping is easy it has solar panels.
Hi ya, its so nice to hear we can cheer you up when you are going through a tough time, it is never easy when these things happen and it is amazing that we cab try and take your mind away from it even for just a small period of time.
No that does sound awesome, no way you can convert the website to English then, such a shame, hopefully you can find a way around it, but definitely it is your time now and take it, go explore and enjoy 😁😁😁
I just swapped to lithium, massive weight saving plus you can use 80% of the battery instead of 50% also alot faster charging and last a long time. I love lithium.
I know, such a good product right 👍
Great to see you guys! Jealous of the new batteries!!! Love from the Pacific Northwest ❤️🇺🇸
Thanks so much Kate (from the deep south of the UK lol) 😁👍
@@campervibe lol! That is too funny!
Haha love seeing you guys from New Zealand and dear doggie, you would so enjoy van life in NZ, beaches, lakes, mountains and friendly Kiwis, can't go wrong in my humble opinion xxxxxxx😊😉
We would love to get over there at some point, fingers crossed 🤞
Well done guys, good upgrade, soon be in Europe ☺️ love from Alfoquia Spain Carola and Terry 😊♥️
Hi guys, hopefully we will get out sometime this year 🤞🤞
Knocked it out the park girls 💯 I have definitely made some decisions on exactly what I want to do. Lithium is the way to roll. I’m also going to do the component version.
Get to start in September and plan on maybe 🤔 doing some build videos.
Happy new Fanny Adventures 😉🦦
So you all tryin to tell us that Emily is going a van 🚐 so you can have dueling 🤺 vans 🤣🤔🏳️🌈
Going to get a
There is so much to think about for sure, you will make all the right choices for you at the time then want to change it later on 😆😂
I saw the extra space where the other battery was stored and thought extra snack storage 😁
😂 you're not the first person to say that and probably not the last 🤦♀️
@@campervibe that's because it's a great idea 🤣🤣
We got our Trigano Tribute from Oaktree - top people. Even started our own little vlog channel to document the travels but still love following other vlogs. Won't offend by putting a link in here but we aren't hard to find.
Yeah they really are, happy travels and good luck with your channel 😁👍
Nice one Guys 👍 I was there on Friday they are a great team 😍👍
They really are ain't they 😁
Hi girls, hope all is well! Lithium batteries are the way to go! Thanks for all the info! See you on the next video! Take care!
Hi Shannon, thank you 😁😁👍
You southerners, having lived in Nottingham for years and years and years I can tell you it definitely isn’t in the NORTH, its in the EAST MIDLANDS…..
You can only say its in the north when you live in the South Pole !!!
As much as i like Fanny (LOL) you need to buy that big posh motor home, you can keep Emily in the garage when you don’t want to play with her !!!!
Love the battery upgrade, hope you enjoyed your little trip “up north”. Stay safe and well
😂😂😂 sorry, it rather north for us 🤦♀️🤦♀️ I know that big posh one was pretty awesome
Nottingham my neck of the wood lou and it's nowhere near Scotland lol
😂😂 we do know its not but it might as well be to us 😆😆
We discounted lithium because they are soooooo expensive but I think given the weight and the life cycle you’ve just sold us on them ….. possibly - when we need new ones anyway 😉 absolutely loved the 1st dinky ‘built for little people’ Emilymobile - perfect fit ! 😁👍🏼
😂🤣 "Emilymobile" she'll want that sign written down the side lol!! Thanks guys 😁👍
Emily, you might do more room tours of foreign vans. You have all the knowledge what is important (snack cupboard, full oven,...). Cheers
😂🤣 Thanks Thomas, clearly those are the most important things, nothing else matters all that much 😂🤣 Thanks for watching 😁😁
Lou you need to move all your electrical equipment round above the batteries, then install lockable cupboard to store all you pot noodles safely, and away from Emily's grubby mitts.
PS really hope you both can make it to our veterans breakfast club meet up on 17th July, at the Malta Inn
😆😆 could you imagine Lou locking it up 😂 not sure what's going on then, pop us an email 👍👍
Ah so funny. I’ve moved to a combination of lithium and agm just around same as you. Great to see how you boxed in your battery! Will copy that :)
Saved so much weight, it's amazing, oh yeah do, keeps them right out the way 🙂
yep Lithium is defiantly the way to go once you get you get past the sticker shock of the upfront cost though you can get the cheaper if you DIY them which is what we did on our boat (documented on the channel) there are so many great benefits not just the weight saving and low self discharge but the fact that more of the capacity is useable with AGM you only really get 50% of the capacity where as with Lifepo4 you can get 80% or more also they accept charge much better that Lead acid. love the channel and Fanny 👍
Thank you, I think lou covered all that percentage stuff in the video 👍 diy sounds great but we like the back up of having a warranty and the fact they've been tried and tested, not sure it's something we'd like to do ourselves in case it all goes horribly wrong lol. Thanks so much for watching 😁👍
Love the full oven issue! 🤣😂
Love it 😆
As usual, the info is relevant and explains the plusses for why these batteries were chosen.
Thanks so much Tony 😁👍
Keep your fanny. It has been through so much with you.
I love your videos ladies. Keep up the good work. I look forward to the next one.
Thank you 😁😁👍
Another fantastic informative video , thank you so much, love your videos better than any TV programme 🤣
😂😂 cheers Sean
I like the lighthearted humour. I’ve been considering switching to lithium in my van. In my small Nissan NV200 length 4.4 metres, width 2.01 metres folded mirrors and 1.96 metres high lack of storage is always an issue. I want to take it skiing next year in Austria and France my first trip outside of the UK. I need to get winter tyres and snow chains. There’s always something to get. My dad calls it a money pit!
There really is always something to get, hope you have a lovely trip
The peugeot boxer autosleeper, an excellent little underrated van! 👌
Most definitely 🙂
If only i'd known you were going there, it's only a mile from our house, and its the East Midlands, (I wish we were near Scotland, :)
😆😆🤦♀️
Epic video ladies, wow thanks 🙏 for that. That’s helped me make my mind up, lithium batteries 🔋 here we come. Please stay safe hugs 🤗 💋
Thank you, glad we could help 😊
A lot of food for thought regarding the Batteries! Well presented information, thank you!
Thanks Peter 😁👍
Nice, I’ve been thinking about lithium for a while, but never made the jump! Great vid 👍🏼
Thank you 😁 they've come a long way so hoping they cope well getting hammered when we eventually travel full time 👍
It looks blue
Great idea and in energy terms it's called payback time.
😁😁👍👍
Buen vídeo amigos
Saludos desde España 👋🏻
Hello there, hope all is good where you are
Lots of shots of the Snack Bandits bum! No complaints here 👍🤗. Keep up the excellent work Lou 🕺🤣
😂😂 the bum needs work 😆
Congrats on the upgrade.
Thank you 😁😁👍
Excellent advice. Isn’t that where Darran got his from? 👍💙❤️
Yeah it was 👌👍
thanks girls, you've cheered me up no end :) have a great day.
No worries, thanks for watching Rachael 😁👍
Hi ya ladies you won’t be saving any weight if you replace the difference with snacks🤩🤩🤩. We say up the far north. Lots of vans and ideas, you could have a full lolly/sweet shop in the big bus, thanks for sharing, stay safe cheers from Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
😆 so very true Barry, but the snacks are worth it 🤦♀️
Nottingham is still deep south for us geordies in Newcastle like. :-)
It's up north somewhere to us kentish folk
I suppose its all relative really lol!! 😂😁👍
Great decision to swap the batteries 🔋👍
We definitely think so 🙂
Congrats on your new batteries. I think you made a good choise.
Thanks, so do we 😁
The oven was hilarious, you won't let her forget that moment 😂😂
Oh definitely not
Very informative, and a great choice of biscuit. Lol.
😂🤣 It's all about the biscuit 😁🍪
You all never fail to bring a huge smile and joy to my heart 💜
Thank you!!
Aww thanks so much Terri 😁👍
Who wouldn’t love AJ. Yeh I always thought like you Lou that Lithium batteries were not good, I have been educated. So glad you’re happy with them definitely seems to be the way to go. Loved the tours, the first one you went into reminded me of a little Bambi Rascal that we had many years ago. Loved our little Rascal😊. Think of the fuel you would use travelling in those big posh motor homes, oh not to mention the cleaning. See you next week
You are right there the fuel consumption would be horrendous and not too sure how the stealth parking would go 😆🤦♀️
I just got a 100AH AGM for 169 euro. And I'm building a small electronic system. But I buy all victron gear and make sure it is lithium ready.
So when I go Lithium I just need only the battery instead of the whole system. Also when I need better solar I can easily sell the small victron unit and upgrade.
Installing electric systems is easy to do yourself 😃
Thanks Victor, we did exactly the same, victron kit so we were lithium ready 😁👍
Great vid! Hope to finally meet you two and hopefully AJ at the next meetup 👍
For sure, looking forward to all the meets this year 😁
Great video, I have to 2x130a , the solar keep them full most of the time , lithiums are very expensive, hope my new toy (1260sterling b2b) can keep them full in the winter. Great vanlifes...
Thanks so much, we have a 60amp sterling that sees us through cold spells if we drive a bit each day 😁👍
I am still not sure if it is well set in mine. Keeps beeping after starting the engine but stops after .
Hmm Lou I reckon that 3rd AGM battery slot would take a nice little 2kW inverter. Just enough for Emms hair toys and an off grid coffee machine.. (seriously the time and faff they save for making a brew is worth it. Eco point you can get refillable pods)
No inverter here, we have the jackets that runs all things like that 👍
@@campervibe Of course, sorry; my turn to be dumbass 🤪🤪
Brilliant
. Just had same fitted..Great...Jim'n'Sue
Hi Jim and sue, we are very happy with ours 😁😁 thanks so much for watching 😄👍
All those motorhomes and hardy one with solar panels
😂🤣 Yes, I think the factories design them to stay on campsites, that's why most full timers end up doing their own electrical system in the end.
Yes, move the stuff next to the batteries, and box it in.
That's the plan 👍😁
Almost on our doorstep!
Oh wow really, lovely area up there 😁👍
Your brilliant n funny girls cheers for the video, great batteries lithium definitely the way to go thanks from 🇦🇺michelle from Western Australia
Thanks so much Michelle, hope all is well in Australia 😁🇦🇺👍
What is it with slo mo coffee with van people? Is it like the drone or somesuch? Just easy padding I guess. Let's hope someone discovers tea in a teapot soon so we can all get excited
Bit late to the party here stevie boy, we've done the old tea in the teapot several times before!
@@campervibe damn I missed it!
@@steveelkins52 shame, it was truly epic!
Great video, love your van tours Em 😂 I can't believe the difference in weight of the batteries ! If ever we need to change will definitely be looking at the lithium. Just been to Coniston in the Lake District so we could road test our Jackery 500, it's brilliant and we can use it for the tools at the allotment as well. Thanks for your reviews 👍 x
Oh so glad you like the Jackery and it's working well for you 👍😀 if only there were more vans to look in 😆
Hi, girls , great vlog as normal .... wow darn expensive... but , its what you want so be it , plus a recommendation, from j& m ??? . But i must say , notts well its north of kent , !!!! But as you looked at the map !! Probably same mileage again to get too Scotland ... ha ha ...
But as you have more room ,now you can put , that power plant , charger ?? (Forgotten the name ) ,the orange one !!! Would it fit in the space ??? , glad a.j . Is up & about ,
Hey Lee, they are definitely worth the swap, yeah they are expensive but it has saved us loads on weight as well, which is of course a massive won for us 😁 it is so North 😂😂
Brilliant will be looking at them if we go banners we are doing a deep thinking process at the moment 🚐🥂
Thanks Anne, good luck with the deep thinking, I for one struggle with that lol!
Great vid great upgrade some nice vans there all the best donnyx
Thanks so much donny 😁👍
If you happen to be coming further up, pop by skipton town and Cotswold outdoor store! Would be great to say hi 😁
We are back down now but I'm sure we will be back up that way no doubt 😁👍 thanks for watching 😁😁👍
The prices has come down a bit but still, you got a really good price on your LiFePO4 batteries. Mine where more expensive...
Not only are the effective Ah better, the higher, constant voltage make the fridge consume at least 10-15% less Ah per day. As you say, the difference is huge!!
Oh yeah we love them, I expect the price has changed, that was a little while ago now 🙂🙂
Wow! Nice video very well explained! best Wishes Ken and Christine
Thank you guys 😊
Very good vlog just what I needed to know well done xx
No worries, thanks for watching Sean 😁👍
Has Jeanie got her little van now? Love the older style little talbot s
Another great vlog girls. Nottingham, so far north! 🤣🤣🤣 I noticed you have the biscuit dunking time down to a tee! 😁
😂🤣 Thanks Sara, I do have many years 'a dunkin under my belt lol!
you two rock x
Thanks Jamie 😁👍
Very interesting video. Thank you. X
Thanks 😁
Nice one, lots of benefits to Li, as you say have to look at the long-run cost and just makes sense; not to mention the snack (or kayak storage space...) factor of course ;-) Some environmental and sustainable supply issues though so we'll see where it goes in the long term... On the safety point [former chemistry nerd hat on] it's the chemistry that's the issue. Lithium polymer (LiPo) used in model aircraft, hyped up adult RC racing cars, or mobile phones, etc. is prone to the occasional explosion when charged e.g. if the parameters are a bit off hence all these RC racers, etc. whose batteries are MUCH more powerful than found in mobile phones but still small and portable charge their batteries in fire proof bags!!! Lithium leisure batteries are Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) aka "Life" which is a completely different compound and very safe, indeed far safer and more practical than AGM. For info your Jackery uses (I think) Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide (NCM) which is slightly different again but also a form of non exploding lithium battery :) The other factor of course of a higher C rate (rate at which you can get charge into and out of the battery) is that in addition to charging faster it can also discharge faster so if you wanted you could connect up to a much larger inverter although that's just extra weight and power drain! Anyway, enjoy your lithium powered travels!
Oh wow that's all very interesting info, and far beyond anything I knew to be ho est, it's nice to k ow how safe they actually are tho, from a proper chemistry nerd too 🤓🤓 thank you, and thanks for watching and sharing your knowledge 😁👍
Probably go with the Midlands
Nah, Watford is the top of the Midlands 😂🤣
Lithium going in tomorrow! Oh and all new electrical system! Wish me luck!
Ooh nice!! Didn't you have a decent set up already, I'm sure I'd seen that somewhere? Maybe I'm getting confused! Good luck with the install 😁😁👍
@@campervibe I thought it was a decent set up, but those that know more Theban me at the past few meet ups, have offered their advice and shown me how to improve it, so hopefully the van can be ready for Europe, that’s if I don’t blow myself up again 🤷🏻♂️
@@PackTheVanAndGo 😂😂😂😂👍

Thanks AJ is loving life back in the van, they are super so far 😁😁
Great video really informative, thank you

Eight stone eh? You could replace the excess AGM weight shed with a second Emily, if it didn't necessitate a corresponding increase in snack provisioning...
Enjoy your new battery capabilities, keep on truckin and above all STAY SAFE! 🚐❤️😷
2 Emily's?!?! I couldn't cope, nor could I afford said extra snack provisions lol 😂🤣
You both know how to make us laugh
Great vlog !😁❤️❤️
Glad you enjoyed it Martin
