The key Tonia gives you at the end unlocks the room in Desmond’s apt for his backstory: -His wife recently left him because he focused too much on work. He bought some lily flowers and put them in his room, not knowing they are deadly to cats. So he blames himself for Tonia’s death. (Remember the very first line of the intro “Agent Rainbow: I killed the cat. Curiosity only brought her to me.”) So when he got affected by Agent Rainbow there was plenty of darkness for it to work with. And a few quick plot points to help wrap things up: - The ship crash was accidental, but it unleashed tons of Agent Rainbow into the bay, which was then sucked into the water treatment plant and spread among the town. - The very first tape you enter is Desmond’s Tape, and you never leave it (all other tapes happen within it; very Inception-esque) until after the final fight where you overwrite all your fears and doubts from the intro. And thanks for being one of like… 2 of the dozens of playthroughs I’ve watched to actually hunt down Lucas’s backstory recordings!
@@Ryan-nu4sl omg thank you Ryan for explaining it so well 😄 I wish I saw the Demonds wife backstory.. but I'm glad you let me know, that adds so much to the character. I knew I left some optional stuff (like the vinyls) but I got to keep a balance between exploring and completing the game so yea (I rarely 100% a game on stream, maybe on my own time I get some achievements). I guess Desmond leaves the tape by the end no? When Lucas finds him still breathing. Do you know if there are plans for a sequel? The ending left me wanting more. Thanks for the comment again and have a nice day 🤗
The implication certainly is that you’re finally back in the real world when Lucas finds you. And now able to “mind-dive” (I dunno, that’s just what I’m calling it) with others exposed to Agent Rainbow. A sequel hasn’t been greenlit yet, but the creator said he knows what it’ll be about if given the chance to make it. I think it would be hard to reproduce the uniqueness of this game, but they’ve earned a free pass from me on whatever they come up with next.
