I do not make any money from my videos I post on my UA-cam channel.
Video taken on 3/4/14. Yearly test of the Chester County Emergency Warning siren system. This siren is tested every Severe Awareness Week. This siren is LLLOOUUDD as CCRRAAPP! This siren is the LOUDEST siren I ever heard! And it was COLD here around 25F° Well, I didn't have a weather radio nor my scanner with me to use for catching the EAS tones, but you can hear the someone's EAS radio going off before this siren blast. Sorry about the wind gusts heard in this video, it was so windy there and I didn't bring an umbrella.
Info about this siren: It was originally installed somewhere in York County, South Carolina in the mid 1980s. Somewhere in the 1990s, it was removed and replaced by a Federal Signal 2001-SRN-AC. Then this siren was sold to Chester County. It was refurbished by the technical school. It is currently controlled by the fire department for now. I know about this siren starting up in this video. The circuits were blowing up and resetting. The county will install a new radio box to it soon and it will get controlled by Chester County Emergency Management. I know about this siren's pitch changes. It has a single phase motor. Not exactly sure why this siren has pitch changes. The fire station sounds this siren every year.
This siren is located in Great Falls, South Carolina at Great falls fire department off of Chester Avenue.
Also, behind the fire department, there's a Federal Signal Thunderbolt 1000B Siren Graveyard. The county is not selling any of them, they are being refurbished.
Location of this siren: goo.gl/maps/cMw0j (Note about that placemark: I know about the placemark title saying "Thunderbolt 1000T". That map is an old one before my friend discovered that this siren is single toned and that map is not mine, it isn't being updated anytime soon. Reason why I linked it because it's the only map that this siren is marked in.)
