Italian music is really popular in the Netherlands. I remember my mom always listening to Laura Pausini, Andrea Bocelli, Eros Ramazzotti etc when I was young. Also our family's favourite country for vacation. Love the people, the language and the food :)

Laura also conquered Spain and Latam by singing her songs in Spanish, since the mid 90s. Even when Italian and Spa are similar languages, I think spanish suits her register so much better. I'd recommended you watch any live performances of " En cambio No", or "Víveme" where her voice is flawless and the song are quite demanding or try her duet with Alejandro Sanz "La Fuerza del corazon".
Not all LATAM in Brazil only know her songs in Italian. few people here in Brazil know that she also sings in Spanish.

There is a huge music festival in Italy called Sanremo , it is aired nationalwide and a lot of artists dream of being winners of it. This song made Laura winner of 1993 competition , when she was 18. So her carreer started growing and till now she's famous mainly in Europe and Latin America

in the mid 90's she had a couple of big hits all around europe. "Strani Amori" was another big hit which you should check out. Sadly she was mishandled by her management because they put money in their own pocket and didnt let her develop as an artist enough. After those troubles i sadly lost sight of her career but i knew she was still going strong.
She is still famous in Europe and Latin America ...and she was nominated to the 2021 Oscars ( unfortunately didn't win) in Best Original Song category... the song is called Io SI/Seen

Wooow... since then she won 1 grammy award, 4 latin grammy awards, and 1 Golden Globe... Her caree is brilliant for someone who sings mainly in non-english languages. She is considered one of the most important singers who does not sing in English.

Still one of my favorite songs. I've got the single cd somewhere, but never listened to it again. A welcome surprise, Laura still shines. I don't understand a word of it, well Solitudine must mean something like loneliness, but the sound of her voice just grabs you.
