@jayharv285 I think they mean the fact the it gave him the ability to appear as though he's walking through walls should let it count as part of his costume. As the original comment states, his sheet is ridiculous until you see him walk through walls then it's scary.
I enoy watching this series. I do want to argue that Wickles wasn't as sloppy as it seemed, though. He likely would have cleaned up any mess he made before the museum opened in the morning. It just happened that the gang broke in to investigate while Wickles was working. He probably didnt call the police because he wasnt supposed to be there after the museum closed either so the police mightve started questioning his presence as well. This is just a guess. EDIT: I'm also wondering if the reason Bluestone didn't spend much time looking for the treasure because maybe he never cared about the treasure. Maybe instead he was using the castle to hide out since he was in so much trouble.
I could see that being the case, but it still seems like he made a ridiculous mess when he didn't need to. And even if he was planning on cleaning up later, we're talking PAINT. When that stuff spills on the ground, it's extremely difficult to clean up. Even though he was likely using oil-based pigments and they wouldn't dry for weeks, that kind of paint would also tend to spread into the tiny cracks and grooves in the flooring, making it that much more difficult to remove. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Plus, this is one of the few episodes I can think of where Shaggy was the one to remember a crucial piece of evidence: the picture on Widow Cutler’s wall. When no one recognized the beardless Cutler, Shaggy remembered the picture even Velma saw and couldn’t recall
In a way, Shaggy is a lot like Homer Simpson. Homer didn't start off stupid. In the first few seasons, he was a typical father figure. Certainly bumbling at times, but not a moronic oaf used solely as a comedic foil for his long-suffering family. Bart was the initial focus on the series and much of the story centered on his shenanigans. Likewise, Shaggy in the early days was a more rounded member of the Gang. Sure, he supplied some comic relief, but he also contributed to the actions of the group as a whole. He was Fred, just more scared by the monsters and with a much bigger appetite. Thanks for watching and commenting!

It's weird, isn't it? Everything Hanna-Barbera did was designed to save money, so I can only imagine those title cards were originally created with the idea that every episode would have a custom design (like 'Jonny Quest'), but when Bill or Joe saw an artist working on one, they said, "What's the point? Just use the same run cycle over a generic spooky background and call it a day." It's like how the second and third title cards for season two of 'The New Scooby-Doo Movies' had a red background and all the rest before and after were blue. I'd like to think it was some sort of hidden message by the director or one of the animators, like a calling card or Easter Egg, but I would never rule out simple sloppiness on the part of whoever was making the titles for those two. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Yeah, it's a shame cause i love those 2 title cards as they have a kinda B Movie artwork vibe. Or something you'd see on a comic book with a horror theme. Makes me wonder what other similar title cards coulda looked like for more episodes.
It occured to me recently, Scooby is a dog, and he can talk. Therefore, he'd be able to catch the scent of the monster and tell exactly who the villain under the mask is..five minutes into the shows. "Like, Scooby days the swamp beast is old Mr.Smith!"
Or like cutler being underwater would significantly hamper scent when not in water even if he was around the wife’s house though he might have a saltwater smell
Gets even more egregious in later series where Scooby does start using his nose on occasion, but as far as I know, never smells out the villain beyond maybe one movie.
Honestly one of the best Scooby vids on the platform. I would know I’ve seen at least a hundred by now lol. I’ve always enjoyed your content but this one takes the cake. The inferences you make on the plot points and information in the episodes is really entertaining and seeing as Where Are You is my comfort show it’s extra fun for me to watch. I know these episodes like the back of my hands. Can’t wait to see the next part!
@@JoeGoesOver 17:20: Gotta give Bluestone credit, he's a good sport about his arrest. Even if he were to show off his "last performance", he's not above taking the opportunity to escape like some villains do: ua-cam.com/video/t0PPfZIi6B8/v-deo.html
Scooby does his impression of John Wayne. In which of his movies did John Wayne hop up and down saying, "Boo! Boo! Boo! Blah, blubble, blubble, blah!"?
I couldn’t help but feel endeared when Hank said “Aw dag nabbit” after being unmasked. Like he knew it was his own fault and didn’t blame the gang for the humiliating way he got caught. Hank is clearly among the humblest Scooby Doo villains we know. I love that 😂❤
Fun fact about the dog show episode: Scooby was designed to be exactly the opposite of what an award winning great dane would look like with extremely bowed legs, kinked and droopy ears, a double chin and sloped back which makes it even more bizarre that he was mistaken for a champion show dog
Not only did Captain Cutler look creepy, but he sounded like he came from the depths of hell. It made me really not want to see what was under that helmet
On a re-watch, I think that Bluestone the Great wasn't untied by Fred or any of the Gang, but used his skills to just get out of the ropes on his own. Which in one sense is its own brand of showing off.
I agree. It took me a few rewinds on that particular scene to notice he was not tied up for long, and even then I was able to conclude that he freed himself. The most genius about that scene is that you have to see it yourself to know what happened..
I will say that in Mr. Wickles' defense, it was openly admitted that the professor was likely the only one to be able to spot the fakes at all, and while the likelihood that it would be found out in the moment is low at that point, Wickles likely didn't wanna risk it. Other than that, your other reasoning is sound. Actually, here's another question posed by the episode: How did he breathe with his mouth covered up and trapped in that disguise in the museum by the curator?
I focused on the lack of bathroom breaks for the professor, but that's a good question, too. I'm guessing Hyde-White didn't have a deviated septum so he could breathe through his nose. Unlike me, where having my mouth covered could result in suffocation! Thanks for watching!
He does have his nose not covered so hopefully he can breathe through that. Of course as Joe mentioned even if you assume a 24 hour time between nabbed and freed the professor has most DEFINITELY soiled himself in some way at least once
70s so probably not enough camera tech. And if there was alarms the gang would’ve definitely set it off when they crashed through the ceiling and smashed stuff which btw IRL would cost up to millions likely if not be priceless
Thank you very much! I suspect most people who found these got here from my 'Mystery Incorporated' video. I have no idea why that one reached as many as it has, but I'm happy it did so because it allowed my content to grow enough to do these videos for more and more people! Thanks for watching!
There were a couple of episodes here and there that seem to be the source of confusion, mainly due to the difference between broadcast order and production order. I try to go by established broadcast order, but that's not always a guarantee since even then some sources differ. Thanks for watching!
Sometimes it's the person you most suspect, huh? You're not wrong, though. In a way, this villain would have been more appropriate decades [ACE DECADE] later when Scooby writers were looking for ways to subvert expectations. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Well, THAT put a bit of a darker spin on something I wrote. I'm actually glad the sub kerfuffle happened long after I published my video because who knows what kind of tasteless joke I might have used instead! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Honestly, i think Bluestone was doing most of his tricks just for laughs. Maybe his laughing was actually genuine and the gang trying to foil him was something that he ended up enjoying. Hence why he was so okay with being caught in the end. I know for a fact that his costume may be lacking, but his character makes him one of my favorite Scooby Doo ghosts. But might i add that the Liveaction Scooby doo movie Monsters unleashed really upgraded and kept the fear of the monsters in this collection? Tho the Miner49'er looks more like a pirate to me. But his design definetly is good and the make-up is AWESOME!
I rewatch this video often whenver i rewatch the whole series and the part at 16:02 where joe insinuates that only cowards are scared of being bisected always gets me.
About `19:34, in an idea for a live-action remake of this series, a nightguard IS hired, but, Cutler quickly dispatches him with a harpoon gun to the stomach. And he does so to multiple other people, turning his operation into a Jaws knockoff.
@@JoeGoesOver, I would never. Instead, give that idea to the Mystery Incorporated film team working on a UA-cam live action Mystery Incorporated series. I would recommend you look at the first episode of that particular series that’s here on UA-cam. It’s actually pretty unique for only one episode released since it came out and was delayed due to COVID and maybe the SAG strikes-Fred is traumatized by his parents murder, Daphne is running for school position, the Hex Giles are secretly witches as revealed at the end of the episode, and most egregious of all to us long time fans, Scooby doesn’t talk. He’s now a regular dog in a show about the Mystery gang, and so far we are still waiting for a second episode to come. Who needs Velma when we can have a UA-cam channel making their own live action fan series?
I don't usually go to channels that review tv shows ( which is kind of funny, given my channel name), but your videos on "Scooby Doo Where Are You?" are so entertaining. I've watched this video several times already. I anxiously await part 2.
Thank you very much for the kind words! Most of the UA-camrs I follow do film and TV reviews, but oddly enough they never touch on Scooby-related stuff. I probably wouldn't want to watch videos like that, though, at the risk of tainting my own reflections (I'm just that impressionable!). Part 2 is currently in the writing stage, but there might be one or two Shorts uploads before that one.
@@JoeGoesOver No problem, you deserve it. I've watched a couple videos on Scooby Doo, but none of them have entertained me much. You have a subscriber through me.
Very impressive, you know for the Miner Forty-Niner he doesn’t seem scary because he just looks like a normal man but at Monsters Unleashed gave him an improvement and speaking of which have you seen the Negative 10 rewrite because in that video they change some of the members of the Negative 10 over the episode we got from Ben 10 and it got me thinking about Monsters Unleashed by improving some and replace a few other monsters that the Evil masked figure brought to life. Yeah I wonder what happened to Mike the Witchdoctor’s henchman because they should have put in the same spot where his boss gets caught.
@@JoeGoesOver but I’m saying that Monster Unleashed did an improvement on the Miner to make him more of a threat unlike the Zombie who was kinda useless which they brought in his partner the Witch and maybe a few other monsters.
My favorite part of Buck Masters capture is this scene: (Velma) why it’s Buck Masters the owner of Big Red, he’s the dog napper! (Buck Masters) you blasted kids! Why didn’t you mind your own business? (Fred) catching dognappers is our business Mr Masters. After all Scooby Doo is a dog and we love him very much (Scooby) *clearly touched by Fred’s words* awwww🥰 Doesn’t fails to touch at my heart strings..😊🥰❤
love the video mate. funny and insightful commentary on all these classic villains, I love the educational takes on the villains via real world law and history references. super glad to see you're still making videos, will be here for part 2
They've got a few of these baffling moments scattered throughout the franchise, where there is an obvious supernatural event that never gets resolved by the end. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Shaggy must be summoning his Ultra Instinct power. That’s the only way it makes sense. After all, he and Scooby always eat twice their body weight, and the two always defy gravity and the laws of physics. There’s no denying it: Shaggy is becoming Ultra Instinct..
You make a good point, but "unhoused guy looming in a cave" is plenty scary in its own right, and that's the outfit. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Dissing the Ten Eyed Man...how dare you! These videos are great! I didn't realize there were so many parts so I did watch quite a few out of order, but finally got to part 1 of the very first season.
To be fair, like most of the early Scooby series, they can be watched in any order. You may just not get a few of the running gags. Something, something, Carl, something, something...
Thank you! Hopefully it won't take forever. Since I won't have to spend so much time on the introduction, I hope to be quicker with Part 2 than it took doing Part 1.
There’s a lot more to Decoy For A Dognapper that I wish you would’ve mentioned too. Scooby’s uncharacteristic anger at the kidnapping, Shaggy recognizing that he is the guy likely to take the decoy, Scooby making sure Shaggy doesn’t eat his Scooby Snack the second time, the hot pink female chihuahua who crushed on Scooby and tried to rizz him up but got mad when he and Shaggy skipped along and purposefully threw the trash at them, Shaggy’s reaction to the trash landing on his hat, Shaggy chasing after and rescuing Scooby, Scooby’s communication with the other dogs into willingly chasing Buck Masters, and finally Scooby’s bravery in chasing after Buck Masters himself and even intimidating him. So many things in this episode make it more memorable than the other forgettable incompetent villains (except for Carl the Stuntman obviously), and we don’t even get to hear anything about them 😢
While I do spend quite a bit of time mentioning things that occur to me while watching the episodes, admittedly these are supposed to be focused more on the villains, so I can't mention everything! 😊
I just want to say, you make a wonderful job. The ranking the villains is absolutely amazing, I'm looking forward for the rest of parts ;) You may expect more comments during the next days :) One small suggestion - when you finish "Scooby Doo Show", I guess we can agree this is the end the "classic Scooby Doo era", so maybe you could make some material to sum up the villains from these 3 TV shows? :) Greetings from Poland! :)
Thank you for your kind words! I've have actually considered doing a summation video where I discuss the series as a whole, but I think it'd be best to wait until much later after I've hit the 'What's New' and 'Mystery Inc.' eras as well. It would make for a much better synopsis with eight or nine series than just three. Of course, it's going to be a while until I get there at this rate, but slow and steady wins the race. Wait, what am I saying? That's a stupid expression! Those movies are called "Fast and Furious" not "Slow and Steady" after all! Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@JoeGoesOver Thank you :D Yes, making all TV shows in one summary will be the great video, but I'm afraid we will have to wait few years :P But the patience is a virtue :) Thank you once again and I'm looking forward for the next video.
29:39: Joe: He had been dumb enough to mistake Scooby for a Show Dog. 29:46 Buckmasters: How could you mistake this *Mutt* for a Show Dog?!? Joe: Didn’t I just say that?
Thank you for your nice words and I'm glad you liked it! This seems to be a popular series on my channel so unless I get burned out, there are going to be plenty more of these to come!
Thank you very much for saying so. To be fair, though, there's a lot of detail because I clearly adore the sound of my own voice. I hope you catch Part 2 in the (sorta) near future!
Thank you so much for saying so! I really appreciate the kind words! They truly keep me motivated to keep producing these videos! Sadly, the past couple of months have tossed a bit of a monkey wrench into my goal of one video every other week, but I'm halfway done with the script for my next one and hopefully I can start filming once my out-of-town guests leave. I hope you stay with me! Thanks for watching!
Old video I know. But hank mightve been lying to the gang about him planning on leaving. Just as an extra scare to chase them away. After all he said that out of ear range of his boss.
In what a night for a knight mr. Wiccles was a small guy he got out of the stocks by just taking the gloves off and slipping his hands through as the circles in the stocks were very large they would have never held shaggy or Velma either. As far as the sheet ghost I can remember back in the days when passing out candy as a grownup I seen many eyehole sheet ghosts. And as far as the dog napper you always say that they never put Scooby on the leash but this was the only time when Scooby was pretending to be an expensive dog that shaggy had him on the leash.
Maybe it’s Shaggy accidentally summoning his own power. He is Ultra Instinct after all. It took him nearly 5 decades (*Ace Decade PNG*) for him to finally reveal his power. Who’s to say there weren’t any signs he had power before?
I listen to your whole Scooby-Playlist while working on maps and stuff on my computer. For some reason, UA-cam's not keeping my likes, I'm back here again and it doesn't show I've liked it
I'm glad to be your background music! UA-cam can be flakey depending on the platform (PC vs smartphone vs smart TV). I would definitely recommend subscribing because, obviously apart from the fact that it helps my channel with the algorithm, it will hopefully help increase the odds of my new ones showing up in your feed. UA-cam will often still recommend my videos or play the next one if a non-subscriber has already watched a previous one, but that's not a guarantee. In fact, even subscribing won't guarantee a new upload shows up as recommended. Even as someone who has obvious reasons to pay attention to subscriptions, I've found myself enjoying a channel and watching a stream of their videos pop up in my recommendations before realizing that I hadn't yet subscribed. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I actually estimated the height and weight of the black knight I scaled Wickles up with the tallest member of the gang being shaggy (shaggys about 6’0 tall) and he’s about 5’10 inches tall and looks to weigh around 230 lbs In his armor he’s about 6’3 inches tall and 280 lbs
As bad as Buck Masters’s plan was, Decoy For A Dognapper is one of those episodes that show the gang at their absolute best. The gang are proactive here when it comes to planning out how to catch the dognapper. Shaggy actually goes out of his way to save Scooby when he’s in danger; Scooby leads them to the dognappers’ hideout and Masters’s capture; in fact, Scooby actually proves his good dog status since he’s the one who in his rightful anger over the dognappings brings the gang into the mystery in the first place. The gang even trust Scooby to lead them to the villain. Plus, Fred had the best clapback I’ve ever heard in this franchise: Buck Masters-“You blasted kids! Why didn’t you mind your own business?” Fred-“Catching dognappers is our business Mr Masters. After all, Scooby Doo is a dog, and we love him very much” Scooby-(clearly touched by Fred’s words) awww 🥰. It’s funny how two episodes featuring the worst Scooby Doo villains (Decoy For A Dognapper and Never Ape An Apeman) feature Scooby at his most heroic, Shaggy at his most proactive, and the gang at their best. Even if you don’t watch for the villains, watch for the writing of the gang at their most likable..
Thank you for saying so! UA-cam isn't the greatest when it comes to spreading videos out, unfortunately, and every upload is a combination of "Will this get copyright flagged?" and "Will this get seen?".
Love the Captain Cutler episodes, one of my faves, love the ghost and the setting and also love the Mine Your Own Business episode, really love that ghost town old west setting and the ghost aswell even though there isn't any glowing if you saw a ghost irl of someone like that that they looked normal just dressed in old clouting but you knew it was not a real person it would be scary and is how some people see ghosts (watch irl ghost shows and believe in them)
'Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?' definitely had its share of classic television moments, and 'A Clue for Scooby-Doo' is one of them! I hope you're enjoying my videos and come back for the new ones, too! Thanks for watching and subscribing!
I'd give hank more credit. he wouldn't need to have a shell business or corperation. all he'd need is to get someone else to buy the land for him, then pay off that guy and reap the rewards. "My old boss is selling his land. here, take this money and go buy it for me, and you can keep whatever's left, plus a bonus if ya give me the deed for everything quickly." BAM plot succeeded.
@@JoeGoesOver thank you for doing all this ranking and postulating and scoring! i know it's a lot of work, and it shows cuz of how great your videos are!
Thank you very much for the kind words! I don't know if I'd classify myself as "good", but admittedly I've never eaten any babies. So far, at least. I suppose it depends what kind of sauce is on the table and when I had lunch. Thanks for watching and commenting!
27:33-27:49 especially when earlier he was pissed when he learned that the pretty poodle he had crushed on earlier and some other dogs had been dognapped, meaning he is capable of caring about his fellow canines. Maybe he doesn’t know they’re taxidermy dogs? Hopefully not, or maybe he’s just naive..
18:43-18:47 I love how Shaggy was able to recognize the guy even without the beard. Let that sink in Joe (get it?), Velma the smartest one in the gang and Fred the leader couldn’t figure it out, but Shaggy the skinny gluttonous easily frightened beatnik with a Great Dane for a best friend was the one who figured out it was Captain Cutler..😂 he is a boss. Also my favorite part is the ending when Scooby drinks all of the gang’s drinks and the gang wonders how he did it..😂
Part Two is in the rendering stage as I type this. It's a little over 40 minutes long, so it's unfortunately taking forever to process. I hope to have it uploaded and available later tonight or tomorrow, but that will depend a lot on UA-cam's content-matching algorithm. I do my best not to set it off, but it occasionally hits me, requiring me to go back to the editing and rendering stage.
1. The black knight, ghost of captain Cutler, and miner 49ner should be laughing instead of growling 2. The witch doctor should laugh while he plays his maracas silently and while he was disappearing in the fire
Captain Cutler’s disguise being an old-fashioned diving suit is even creepier if you’re familiar with the late Steven Hillenburg’s original pitch bible for SpongeBob Squarepants that is now released to the public. According to the legendary Alex Bale (aka the guy behind the SpongeBob conspiracies and the Don’t Feed The Muse ARG), one page of the Pitch Bible describes the death of a man named Bucky Leavitt who wore a diving suit to explore Bikini Bottom and wrote the only known map to Bikini Bottom, but died due to the suit being compressed down to size due to the pressures of the ocean. Captain Cutler is lucky to still be alive inside his old suit at all considering the possibility that the water pressures might have compressed him and shrunken him down to size like a crushed bag of chips. Granted, the Scooby gang might suffer the same problems, but their suits are better built, whereas this guy Cutler is wearing an old suit. Between Cutler here, Voltner from Watt A Shocking Ghost, and Mr Stoner from the Tar Monster, I have to wonder if the villains of Scooby Doo are secretly suicidal in some way, cause who would be so stupid to risk their own safety for the sake of greed or revenge?
6:20 even though wickles was a little overweight either it’s wacky cartoon physics that he was able to fit orrrrrrrr wickles was faking his fat bod so he couldn’t be a suspect because the black knight isn’t very fat
There’s also the fact that Buck Masters’s outfit not only has no special effects, but the episode itself defeats its fear factor by showing the Witch Doctor as a regular talking guy wearing a mask early in the episode before they even show him scaring the gang. The design of the episode itself ruins the scare factor and thus makes the outfit of Buck Masters’s Witch Doctor the worst monster next to our favorite lesser monster Carl The Stuntman..
About Mine Your Own Business: 1) Shaggy and Scooby are so powerful in magic that a frickin branch was able to catch their bodies without breaking 2) Daphne was so mean telling Scooby to “quit clowning” even though he could’ve easily been hurt 😞 3) Shaggy could be a little more patient to listen for the combinations of the safe first before opening the safe. 4) there’s a scene where Fred gets covered in flour and accidentally scares Shaggy and Scooby. A scene, mind you, that never gets addressed as the next scene cuts, Fred is back to normal and the two cowards never realize they were accidentally jumpscared by Fred. 5) Shaggy is such a good voice impressionist. Not many people have the talent to imitate different voices, let alone convincingly portray a steam engine train like he does. He is multi-talented, I tell you.. 😍
Yeah, especially when they got lucky and they didn't accidentally steal the ship of Dexter Morgan! I mean a forensics Dr. might be able to think that Mrs. could be considered innocent oh but I don't think the code works on ghosts?
Scooby opened the door that he saw the eye through and no-one was there so there is no answer to whether it was big Ben or not and even if it was there is no way he'd be able to get away from the door in about 3-4 seconds before Scooby had the chance to open it, and even if it was possible we'd have heard the footsteps and we didn't.
Could it have been an actual ghost spying on them? After all, we know from later series that there are any number of unexplained random supernatural hauntings happening all the time. Maybe a ghost who had been a peeping tom in life? In either case, girls, beware..
Actually Joe, a suit of armor is feasibly terrifying . Trust me, I’ve seen enough gameplay videos involving suits of armor to know that even if it was just a guy in the suit, I would still be terrified of the suit enough to stay away from it and run away. No to mention, if it has a weapon like a sword or mace, think of how easy it would be for a suit of armor to accidentally or purposefully kill you with said weapon or even injury you greatly. I am a 22 year old 5’3 tall woman who will complain and whine if I so much as get a a cut on my finger or a goose egg bump on the head from accidentally hitting a cardboard door on the head, imagine the pain from having a sword or a fist flying at you from a gigantic bulky metal suit of armor that is presumably 7 feet tall. In my mind, UA-camr ToonGrin was right when he called the Black Knight one of the best Scooby Doo monsters, at least for how frightening he is, but you also gave me a different perspective on his whole operation so maybe it isn’t that clear cut..
Miner 49er has the same outfit as Hank though. I feel like that has to be a strike against him unless it was a specific work uniform (counting its generic-ness aside).
26:23-26:49 either Buck Masters is too cheap or he thought that having such a low amount for ransom demand would make the police less likely to investigate the dognappings, because come on, not many people would willingly investigate a series of dognappings where the ransom demand is $500 unless they were genuine people who truly cared about the dogs and wanted to rescue them with no thought about the money. Not that $500 is a bad amount. One of my favorite episodes of CSI:NY, season 6 episode 21 “Unusual Suspects”, has the victim in the episode revealed to have robbed a bank using a purposefully empty pistol wearing on sunglasses and only demanding $933 which was meant to pay his mother’s rent. Sure it’s a very poorly thought out plan, but then again this is a 14-year-old kid and his 12-year-old little brother desperate to help their widowed single mom by robbing a bank for only the amount needed to pay the rent for their apartment (not to mention this is his only crime), and he does end up getting shot by another less sympathetic thief who later dies in the episode by a hit and run accident as his karma for shooting a kid. Obviously a young kid isn’t gonna plan out his crime better when he’s that desperate to keep his family together. Buck Masters disappoints for how he planned out his crime. If a 14-year-old kid living in a shabby apartment taking care of his widowed single mom and little brother doing a DIY bank robbery 101 with only sunglasses and an empty pistol is able to plan out his crime better than you are, you know you’re not cut for it..
Hah! Thank you for the compliment! I designed that shirt as a bit of a passive-aggressive response to some comments from an earlier video. And yes, no matter how much love "Mystery Inc." gets, it will never be enough! Thank you for watching and commenting!
6:10-6:17 Joe my man, he’s a Scooby Doo villain wearing his costume which automatically gives him superhuman strength. I mean, have you seen the Hulk? (Not the MCU Mark Ruffalo version, I mean either the Eric Bana version or Edward Norton version). I think we all know what happened..😂🏋🏻♂️⛓️💥
They had to be geographically close enough to make mooring their stolen vessels in one location like that practical, though. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I remember being absolutely scared of captian culter as a 4 year old. And i watched all of scooby doo i could find on repeat. The episode always was only one i refused to rewatch as a kid and probably gave me thalassaphobia. Good villian overall.
Just a thought that came to mind, But what if the Witch Doctor had instead been portrayed as a Skinwalker? Imagine how genuinely terrifying he coulda been as a master of disguise with his costume tweaked a smidge. It'd even be less culturally insensitive in a sense. seeing as they are a notorious evil being from folklore that would even not be too far off from his costume in depictions. Just a thought i had watching this, as i'm a big fan of spooky stuff (not so much gorefest horror) But for more genuine horror that is simple like Scooby Doo. I'm also a writer who often makes horror themed comics from time to time. So i like to speculate on such things. But i feel if they had made him a Skinwalker instead of a Witch Doctor, A-The animals being dognapped is a reasonable thing to expect from such a being. B-He then could've used life like dummies of those dogs with some creepy additions like yellow glowing eyes or deformities to help in his scheme. Granted, this'd work more in What's New or Mystery Incorporated. But still. Just my 2 cents on what ways the monster could've been FAR more intimidating and unique.
You're making me wonder what a Scooby-Doo episode written by HP Lovecraft might have been. We got some Elder God stuff in 'Mystery Incorporated', but it'd be interesting to see what the actual guy himself would come up with. If they could get him to leave his house long enough to submit a script. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I must object to the points you took off from Captain Cutler’s Design: their scheme was _too successful?_ Come on, that’s nitpicking and arbitrary. If they got away with stealing 11 boats, on what basis can you say they wouldn’t have kept getting away with it? Saying the marina would hire security is immaterial; they don’t. Same with it being ‘unlikely’ there wouldn’t be a witness to the mini-sub. Clearly there wasn’t or else they’d have been busted. Evidence of their continued success can’t be used as evidence that they were bound to fail. Feels like you’re knocking off points just to keep Captain Cutler from getting a 5/5/5, which is by all accounts what he deserves. I’d settle for him getting a 7 on Outfit, that glowing suit is a core fear-memory for me as a child... the unnervingly heavy _THUNK. THUNK._ of his underwater footfalls...
I would argue that the more crimes you commit, the more likely you'll get caught. It would be different if Cutler had been stealing ships from all over the country, but concentrating on the one area was dangerous for his scheme. Thanks for watching and commenting!
To be fair though Joe, Mike the henchman only mistook Scooby for Bob Miller’s Great Dane because he was conveniently in the same place as the intended target. It’s not Mike the henchman’s fault that the Scooby gang had played him a good one. If anything, it’s Buck Masters’s fault for not warning him ahead of time about the decoy attempt. Hell, he met the gang earlier and knew ahead of time that they were planning on catching the dognappers. At least he recognized Scooby as a decoy and tried to get rid of him, but even then, he shouldn’t be too harsh on Mike for making such a big mistake. Regardless, I can agree that Masters was too harsh on our favorite good boy Scooby, so he should be ashamed of himself..
There’s an episode of a later show that does the whole real estate scheme because there’s a secret valuable resource much better the episodes main villain is a forest ranger who is trying to convince the people to sell it because he wants to turn it into a park or so he says and the other suspect wants to build a Mall so from the perspective of the landowners which one do you think would be the better choice how he intends to hide mining in a national park I’m not sure
True that, Buck Masters’s dog Big Red will not be winning any more prizes for its master any longer. I hope he eventually found a better owner than Buck Masters. May Scooby’s brethren rise above its greedy egotistical owner and be free to be itself..
This is where thinking too much about the show gets depressing because there is no way any of those dogs would still be alive now. I'm like this whenever I watch any older film or TV show that has animals in it.
I’d argue that Bluestone’s projector is PART of his costume, and thus should’ve given a somewhat higher score in the costume segment
Agreeable
very much agreed. if i saw a dude with a sheet, i'd point and laugh, until that man walked through a wall. then i'd run for my life.
No. It's still only a prop. The costume is what you are wearing.

The first episode of Scooby-Doo Where Are You and that third episode about Captain Cutler is the only time they use that intro title card.
Just use the same run cycle over a generic spooky background and call it a day."
It's like how the second and third title cards for season two of 'The New Scooby-Doo Movies' had a red background and all the rest before and after were blue.
And Captain Cutler he sure can run fast through dense water.
Good ol' cartoon physics!
Same reason why the Gang can communicate with each other through the water.
It occured to me recently, Scooby is a dog, and he can talk. Therefore, he'd be able to catch the scent of the monster and tell exactly who the villain under the mask is..five minutes into the shows. "Like, Scooby days the swamp beast is old Mr.Smith!"
I've often thought that as well.
Perhaps phosphorous paint and foam rubber masks the smell of human sweat?
@@JoeGoesOverthan scooby can smell it on the person
Or like cutler being underwater would significantly hamper scent when not in water even if he was around the wife’s house though he might have a saltwater smell
Scooby lost his sense of smell in order to learn how to talk, similar to Meowth on Pokémon.
Or too many spicy foods ruined his sense of smell.
Thank you very much! Enthusiastic comments like yours are definitely an incentive to keep working on them!
Yeah, especially seeing how he apparently used his magic tricks to untie himself.
@Ethan-ld6bp Yes he’s alive; he’s busy, not dead.
Scooby does his impression of John Wayne.
In which of his movies did John Wayne hop up and down saying, "Boo! Boo! Boo! Blah, blubble, blubble, blah!"?
In defense of Scooby, I don't think I could do much better.
@@JoeGoesOver He should have at least called the ghost "Pilgrim".
Oh great. Now I have the image in my head of John Wayne acting like a toddler.
That one boat that the Cutlers stole looks like the SS Minnow.
I heard that their grandson Jay had an NFL career.
Jay should never had been traded from Denver.
I couldn’t help but feel endeared when Hank said “Aw dag nabbit” after being unmasked. Like he knew it was his own fault and didn’t blame the gang for the humiliating way he got caught. Hank is clearly among the humblest Scooby Doo villains we know. I love that 😂❤
I love the black knight he’s a terrifying and strong villain
Fun fact about the dog show episode: Scooby was designed to be exactly the opposite of what an award winning great dane would look like with extremely bowed legs, kinked and droopy ears, a double chin and sloped back which makes it even more bizarre that he was mistaken for a champion show dog
Yup! And his stray whiskers were a part of that aesthetic as well!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Not only did Captain Cutler look creepy, but he sounded like he came from the depths of hell. It made me really not want to see what was under that helmet
He was a retired sailor, so god only knows what verbal filth he was spewing under that helmet!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Great ranking! My favourite that was in this video was Captain Cutler
He definitely is up there and is one of the most classic of Scooby villains!
@@JoeGoesOver he's certainly iconic!
@@JoeGoesOverMy favorite villains were him, Redbeard, the Indian Witch Doctor and the witch and zombie.
On a re-watch, I think that Bluestone the Great wasn't untied by Fred or any of the Gang, but used his skills to just get out of the ropes on his own. Which in one sense is its own brand of showing off.
He's the Roger Rabbit of Scooby villains!
Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing!
Also, were there no security guards in the museum? Not even any alarms or cameras?
He does have his nose not covered so hopefully he can breathe through that. Of course as Joe mentioned even if you assume a 24 hour time between nabbed and freed the professor has most DEFINITELY soiled himself in some way at least once
70s so probably not enough camera tech. And if there was alarms the gang would’ve definitely set it off when they crashed through the ceiling and smashed stuff which btw IRL would cost up to millions likely if not be priceless
@@JoeGoesOverOh, like Randy Hickey
enjoyed your mystery inc video so back for these
Thank you very much! I suspect most people who found these got here from my 'Mystery Incorporated' video.
I have no idea why that one reached as many as it has, but I'm happy it did so because it allowed my content to grow enough to do these videos for more and more people!
Thanks for watching!
I think hassle in the castle and a clue for Scooby Doo are mixed-up
There were a couple of episodes here and there that seem to be the source of confusion, mainly due to the difference between broadcast order and production order.
I try to go by established broadcast order, but that's not always a guarantee since even then some sources differ.
Thanks for watching!
I like that Captain Cutler turned out to actually be Captain Cutler. In a show like Scooby-Doo, that’s a LARGER twist.
Sometimes it's the person you most suspect, huh?
You're not wrong, though. In a way, this villain would have been more appropriate decades [ACE DECADE] later when Scooby writers were looking for ways to subvert expectations.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Watching this after the OceanGate Titan implosion. That billionaire joke made we chuckle
Well, THAT put a bit of a darker spin on something I wrote.
I'm actually glad the sub kerfuffle happened long after I published my video because who knows what kind of tasteless joke I might have used instead!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Rewatching all of these because I can't get enough!
Hah! I appreciate that! And thank you! You're very kind!
I mean, it's JUST being cut in half! How bad could it be?
And thanks for watching, commenting and supporting my channel!
@@JoeGoesOver, does that mean I’m a coward too for being scared of being vivisected or bisected?
10:22 that cracked me up
About `19:34, in an idea for a live-action remake of this series, a nightguard IS hired, but, Cutler quickly dispatches him with a harpoon gun to the stomach. And he does so to multiple other people, turning his operation into a Jaws knockoff.
Don't give the 'Velma' producers ANY ideas...
Who needs Velma when we can have a UA-cam channel making their own live action fan series?
something about this series is really soothing to listen to not sure how man times i have looped this ranking but I hope it helps
It's absolutely appreciated!
I do the same with Red Letter Media videos!
They got me through so many surgical recoveries!
Always nice to see another ink tank subscriber
@@ronswanson7371 I’m didn’t subscribed I just saw the video and I liked with one nitpick that being the final member of the Negative 10.
Quite a few of the classic Scooby villains just look like "normal" people. It'll be a while until we see mantis monsters and cat-headed gorillas.
@@JoeGoesOver but I’m saying that Monster Unleashed did an improvement on the Miner to make him more of a threat unlike the Zombie who was kinda useless which they brought in his partner the Witch and maybe a few other monsters.
I remember watching The Negative 10 Rewrite. The Ben 10 Breakdown series is legend!
My favorite part of Buck Masters capture is this scene:
(Velma) why it’s Buck Masters the owner of Big Red, he’s the dog napper!
(Buck Masters) you blasted kids! Why didn’t you mind your own business?
(Fred) catching dognappers is our business Mr Masters. After all Scooby Doo is a dog and we love him very much
(Scooby) *clearly touched by Fred’s words* awwww🥰

14:40 there's a Tumblr head canon that that's an actual haunting
They've got a few of these baffling moments scattered throughout the franchise, where there is an obvious supernatural event that never gets resolved by the end.

Shaggy must be summoning his Ultra Instinct power. That’s the only way it makes sense. After all, he and Scooby always eat twice their body weight, and the two always defy gravity and the laws of physics. There’s no denying it: Shaggy is becoming Ultra Instinct..
Honestly since I can't get enough of these videos, here I am ready to binge the entire series again xD
It's appreciated!

Have at you! 😃
I think Miner 49'er deserves a lower outfit score, considering the clothes he uses for his Miner 49'er disguise, is literally just his normal clothes
You make a good point, but "unhoused guy looming in a cave" is plenty scary in its own right, and that's the outfit.

The ranking the villains is absolutely amazing, I'm looking forward for the rest of parts ;) You may expect more comments during the next days :)
One small suggestion - when you finish "Scooby Doo Show", I guess we can agree this is the end the "classic Scooby Doo era", so maybe you could make some material to sum up the villains from these 3 TV shows? :)
Greetings from Poland!
@@JoeGoesOver Thank you :D Yes, making all TV shows in one summary will be the great video, but I'm afraid we will have to wait few years :P But the patience is a virtue :)

I hope you stay with me!

That ham sandwich bit is always considered the one paranormal thing unexplained in this show among fans it seems.
Definitely sketchy, but is it any more supernatural than, you know, a talking dog?

I actually estimated the height and weight of the black knight
I scaled Wickles up with the tallest member of the gang being shaggy (shaggys about 6’0 tall) and he’s about 5’10 inches tall and looks to weigh around 230 lbs In his armor he’s about 6’3 inches tall and 280 lbs

Pricay did last after that tho
@@tfordham13 yes piracy does continues to exist to this very day but like not its golden age

Also my favorite part is the ending when Scooby drinks all of the gang’s drinks and the gang wonders how he did it..😂
Patiently waiting for part 2 🔥
Part Two is in the rendering stage as I type this. It's a little over 40 minutes long, so it's unfortunately taking forever to process.
I hope to have it uploaded and available later tonight or tomorrow, but that will depend a lot on UA-cam's content-matching algorithm. I do my best not to set it off, but it occasionally hits me, requiring me to go back to the editing and rendering stage.
1. The black knight, ghost of captain Cutler, and miner 49ner should be laughing instead of growling
DC and Marvel have Good Heroes but Not having Good Villains is big reason they did not catch On.

Thank you! I appreciate that!
I had it custom-made because the world needs to know the truth!

I'm so eager for more episodes, I'm re-watching the whole series again.
About Mine Your Own Business:
1) Shaggy and Scooby are so powerful in magic that a frickin branch was able to catch their bodies without breaking
2) Daphne was so mean telling Scooby to “quit clowning” even though he could’ve easily been hurt 😞
3) Shaggy could be a little more patient to listen for the combinations of the safe first before opening the safe.
I would not be surprised to find fan fic out there involving Scooby x Dexter!

I love Scooby Doo ❤️
I'd like to think if he was a real dog, Scooby would say the same for you!
You'd think, right? Big Ben wasn't exactly small.
Probably why he got that name.
Hope you do well Sir, I'm a huge Scooby Doo Fan!!
P.S. you have a new sub
Thank you very much for your kind words and for subscribing!
Miner 49er has the same outfit as Hank though. I feel like that has to be a strike against him unless it was a specific work uniform (counting its generic-ness aside).
Love this content though! Can't wait to watch the series.
Thank you kindly for your nice words and for watching!
New upload is incoming and should hopefully be live in a couple of days.
That little bit with the golden girls😂😂😂😂 stopppp I died laughing 😂😂
I only wish I could have used the actual music.
*sigh
Damned content matching system!
That shirt is incredible & Mystery Inc. the series is underrated.
Oh wow this video was very high quality
Thank you very much for saying so! I'm constantly trying to improve my game.
My next goal is a new camera.
Thanks for watching!
Brilliant video ❤️
Thank you very much! ♥
great video !!!!!
I think the Cutler were stealing from more then One area?
They had to be geographically close enough to make mooring their stolen vessels in one location like that practical, though.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
I remember being absolutely scared of captian culter as a 4 year old. And i watched all of scooby doo i could find on repeat. The episode always was only one i refused to rewatch as a kid and probably gave me thalassaphobia. Good villian overall.
Dude straight up locked up some innocent teenagers to drown!
But i feel if they had made him a Skinwalker instead of a Witch Doctor,
A-The animals being dognapped is a reasonable thing to expect from such a being.
Anyone would be scared of being cut in half.
Not earthworms!
For them, that's just an easy way to get more help in the kitchen!

@@JoeGoesOver, how do you get rid of them pests then? (Deadpool image)

My grandma could laugh like Cutler's wife
There’s an episode of a later show that does the whole real estate scheme because there’s a secret valuable resource much better the episodes main villain is a forest ranger who is trying to convince the people to sell it because he wants to turn it into a park or so he says and the other suspect wants to build a Mall so from the perspective of the landowners which one do you think would be the better choice how he intends to hide mining in a national park I’m not sure
Isn't that a pup named scooby doo
@@AntoinettexKitten yes, that is the one I’m talking about
Perfect video❤
Thank you very much! That's very kind of you!
Thank you for watching!
Noticed you didnt bring up the ghost of Geronimo projection
Did they actually ever call the Miner49er a ghost?
Technically, they didn't. They just kept referring to him as the "miner".
I guess the ghost aspect is implied.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@JoeGoesOver The implication was ghost or immortal
I would love e o see you look at Ace Attorney this way. Or maybe pick apart Star Trek or Dark Wing Duck or Batman TAS or some other show
Its possible all these villians with super strength are suits with mechanical boosts
i need part 2 !!!!!!!!!!
Man is beefing with Elon
He started it.
Bluestone's laugh would have scared me
1st video I have watched but I'm sure the Spooky space kook will be at the top
Where's your spoiler alert...!!!???
