If you've never had it before then try it at a restaurant first. Understand how well-prepared beef liver should taste. Let your palate develop. My husband panfries liver strips and sliced onions with wholegrain toast for breakfast. Delicious. We eat it when we are feeling run down and only when we can find excellent quality liver.
I can relate to the health issue. I started the Autoimmune Protocol and it’s made a huge difference in everything! I’m much more careful about what I eat now. I just recently found a recipe, along with a how-to video, for beef liver. Hint: it’s the bacon, onion, and soaking it several hours in almond (or other milk) that’s a game changer!! How you cut it does make a difference too. However, it’s still slimy. That’s something I just deal with because I know the end results will be amazing!!
I was taught by a wonderful chef to soak liver in milk for at least 30-60 min. prior to cooking it. Coat with flour and fry it very hot and fast and finishing it off with Worcestershire sauce. My husband looks forward to my liver and onions for dinner.
i fry bacon and onions first, then the liver and put the bacon and onions back in. It is great that way. I also make pate with the left overs and smoked oysters, hwc or mayo. can also use different vinegars or spices you may like
Beef liver is great Ive eaten it all my life . Last few years I won't buy it at local grocery store . I buy from local butcher who raises and processes there own beef
Love liver, prefer calf’s but any will do…lots of onions. We eat it once a month as a healthy shot of minerals and vitamins after a personal years long health battle….the fact that my hubby knows how to cook it and we love it, it’s just a bonus. I used to hate it as a kid as well.
I have had many issues since being in ICU with covid and I'm trying to take care of them with better nutrition. I'm glad I listened to this because one suggestion given to me from my pulmonary Dr was to eat beef liver and I can not stand how it tastes or its texture.
I had an iron deficiency in my preteen and teen years. My mom made me eat beef liver… it did help. My grandpa told her to give me deer liver and it really did help a lot. The deer was easier to eat and I didn’t have to eat as much.
Thank you so much for all this knowledge, and I loved that you read us the Word. All of it was food for my soul and I love to share it with others. May God continue blessing you and your family so you can bring Him more glory🙌🙌🙌
Try substituting it in a Dirty Rice recipe that calls for chicken livers. I love it. the spicy flavors tone down the liver flavor to be just part of the overall flavor profile. Not something I eat on a regular basis but when I do I make sure I make a lot because I can't stop eating it. Gosh now I'm craving and will have to make some! I also love chicken livers, battered and fried just like fried chicken or made into a spreadable pate. The nutrition differs slightly between beef and chicken but both provide a good dose of minerals and chicken is rich in the full spectrum of B vitamins. Just be glad we're not talking about kidneys...anyone whose ever had them will know what I mean😂
Anyone have a link to that study about heritage apples having 55 times the nutrition of preset day apples? Would love to read it. Ill have to find space for some new trees.
I do freeze dry liver raw and use it for supplements and it is more intense. And something I am trying to figure that out. At the moment, I am using it for my dog.
A company called Standard Processing? or Process? makes organic, raw capsules of different organ meats. They have many followers. I think that they sell through chiropractors, but they can be found sold by individuals over the net.
I used to fly control for the big dairies all over Washington. One of the farms in Ferndale . He had a Gomer bull in one of his strings. I joked he must love me he follows me everywhere (inside his fence while I was outside) he called BS.. Do I showed him. He looked at me square in the face and said "DON'T YOU EVER GO IN THAT STRING" I said no worries. I was joking but he was straight up serious!
Sugar in any form is , glucose, fructose, your cane sugar is sugar, just because you think it’s a better choice does not make it better, you are hooked, it will always release the fat Storing hormone, insulin, I love your talk on liver❤
The issue with liver is that for an animal it is a filter for toxins in the animals blood stream. Over time those toxins can build up and are transferred to you when you eat the liver. I personally would never eat the liver of an animal that I do not know the complete history of this includes wild and domestic animals.
Ooh😖so gross. I’m going to try beef liver. Got some on my dehydrator for me to make capsules. Also have canned cod liver on the way. I think I can eat that. Thanks for the podcast ✨🦋✨. Very informative.
I love Dear Liver but I hate beef liver but livers gotta be fresh I don't like frozen liver fresh fresh out of the animal maybe that's why I don't like beef liver because it's from a store not fresh
There is a Christian comedian who tells the story of how his first connection to God was the book of Ecclesiastes. People say "Really? Ecclesiastes is such a cynical book." He answers "Well, you don't know me the way God knows me." He reaches all of where we are.😊

I love liver with onions and bacon.
I loved it as a kid. My Grandmother was a wonderful cook.

I sliced some and put it on the grill next to my ribeye. Much better than pan fried and didn't stink up the house.
I love liver. I haven't eaten it in a while. I need to reincorporate it into my diet.

Wow this is such a great episode and perfect timing for my family! Thanks to you both💕

Canning liver raw packed with lots of onions, mushrooms and broth makes for really good liver. Not as tender as slow fried, but still good.🤩
Please please share your method!!
@@lucyb9320 any meat has to be pressure canned 75 minutes for pints and 90 minutes for quarts
Yes, all of the above reaction to hearing beef liver. I've aged and may be able to eat it now😮😊
Liver and onions, fried or just steamed, best

Standard Process offers organ meat capsules, organic and even raw, to obtain full benefits.
Is it only beef liver that works so well? Can you use chicken or pork as well?
I do freeze dry liver raw and use it for supplements and it is more intense. And something I am trying to figure that out. At the moment, I am using it for my dog.
It's amazing , heart liver kidneys and tongue, make and use different ways. , think of this wild animals eat EVERYTHING but the stomach

Rabbit liver is so mild and delicious (even though I don't like beef liver). I wonder if the health benefits are similar, or less than beef liver?

How do chicken livers rank versus beef livers?
chicken livers are mealy where beef liver is not very mealy at all.

I personally would never eat the liver of an animal that I do not know the complete history of this includes wild and domestic animals.
Plus all the benefits of that filter help replace our liver cells
In a properly functioning liver, yes, it filters the toxins from the blood. What you forgot is that those toxins are then excreted in the urine.
The last side of beef I got, I asked them to grind up the organs with the rest of the ground beef.

Soak it in milk first, yes. But the thing is, don't let it Touch salt until it's cooked. You won't get "that taste".
I love Dear Liver but I hate beef liver but livers gotta be fresh I don't like frozen liver fresh fresh out of the animal maybe that's why I don't like beef liver because it's from a store not fresh
Stuffed beef heart is the only organ meat I will eat.

Here is another way to use organs, use 10% ground organs to other ground meats.
Contact the Slaughter trucks too they see the farms and know who wants the organs and who doesn't.
What happens when you decide to travel for a while? Obviously there are a lot of living things that need you every hour of the day
I do not eat animal organs!
Wow! That’s amazing!
I think night is worse because there is nothing to divert your attention
lol 😅😅 how did you know
Liver tastes nasty
Eat it raw❤
