Wish we’d gotten a little more on the 05 reunion with Joey and Spitz. When Joey came back is when Anthrax came back. The proof is in Worship Music and For All Kings. These albums tower above anything that they put out in the 90s and 2000s. They NEVER should have fired Joey!

That’s because he didn’t do anything. That album was basically written and was scheduled to be released in like 2006 with Dan Nelson but that didn’t happen. Joey just came in and sang and that was all he had to do.
Worship Music might be one of the best sounding albums I've ever heard! Especially nowadays, when every metal album has such a similar tone, WM sticks out, it sounds so unique!
I remember buying Worship after hearing that Joey was back. I listened to it and as a long time Anthrax fan couldn’t believe what I was hearing. This was like their best stuff ever. Amazing. Goosebumps. Then came Kings. What the holy fuck?
Surprised they skipped everything that happened from 2004-2009; Frank leaving briefly, the Among the Living reunion tour, Corey Taylor very nearly joining, the Dan Nelson period (though I knew they wouldn’t cover that bit), and then Bush briefly coming back. It took quite a more than was mentioned here to get to the awesome Worship Music album.
I came home from the record store in 1984 with 2 albums. Raven’s “All For One” and Anthrax “Fistful of Metal”. At 24 I was already a Raven fan but had no idea who Anthrax was. I bought “Fistful” because the album art said “ This is brutal. Buy it, Bitch!” 37 years later…Anthrax is STILL my go to, krank it up, ride or die band. Last time I saw them live was in Orlando, 2018. I’m looking forward to seeing them again. And again. And AGAIN! 🤘😎
Never have I enjoyed a documentary as much as this. 1st time is seen you lads was supporting 'tallica Edinburgh playhouse damage inc tour 83 and you played I am the law for the 1st time, wow! Following year you sold the place out and it was one of the best gigs I've been to place was loud and Scott stopped the gig to take pics and video Great memories and great doc guys, keep thrashing! 👍
I have to say I was floored with how much *BETTER* Joey sounded in 2011 than back in the day (and there was nothing wrong with his voice then). He has aged well and there's so much character in his delivery. The guy was born to sing for Anthrax. I'm glad they at least had a brief acknowledgement of John Bush, despite glossing over the 2003-10 years in this episode. Nonetheless, Worship Music was a powerhouse of a record that blew all our socks off.
I was so stoked when I heard fight em’. I couldn’t wait for the record. So I quit riding motorcycles, was careful not to slip in the tub, only drove 55 til the album came out. They could do a set list with just the last two records and that would be awesome. Not sure how they decide which ones to do. They just keep getting better!
I am so glad I was able to catch Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax in 2010. Bands like these don't come to Hampton Roads Virginia very often if at all. I've been into Anthrax since the 80s and my Spreading the Disease backpatch that went on my jean jacket in middle school is still there to prove it.
I don't give a damn about Nelson. But I Do give a damn about John Bush, and them at least showing him enough respect to talk about him leaving the band. The dude was their singer for like 12 fucking years.
I bought this CD when it first came out. As I drive truck for a living this CD has been in my truck since day one. I have worn this CD out. It is one of very few that goes where ever I go. It was great to hear Joey's voice again. I felt like that kid back in the 80's when I first heard it. The only differences is I'm much older and the Anthrax sound is more refined. ❤️🤘✌️
Man, this album and For All King made Anthrax stand alone as my favorite thrash band. While thrash gaining momentum circa 2016-2017 with LP from Megadeth, Testament, Metallica, Overkill, Kreator, Sodom to name a few, For All King never left my playlist for a whole year perhaps. Just wish could see ya guys in Indonesia someday.
Worship Music is my personal favorite album of the 21st century so far - of any genre. And I love the last Metallica and Megadeth albums, but this one is special.
Continuing to love this series. Great stuff. I only saw Anthrax twice with John, but I've lost count of how many times I've seen them with Joey since he returned. Damn, they've toured alot. Anyway, my big take from this episode? Thrilled to hear how excited the guys are talking about making music together. Let's hope we hear some more soon!
One of the best shows I've ever seen in my life was Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax in Grand Rapids Michigan in 2010. Joey was back in Anthrax, Megadeth played "Rust In Peace" and Slayer played "Seasons in the Abyss" with Dave and Jeff still in the band. No opening acts, the beer was cheap and it was loud as hell. It was awesome.
Is it me, or did they completely skip over The Greater of Two Evils? I really love John's voice and getting to hear these classic songs rerecorded with him signing was awesome.
They completely skipped that and John leaving, and why (because he didn't want to do the Joey reunion tour of 05). He clearly stated back then that he felt it was a step backwards and a novelty act, and he didn't want to do it. I also think he felt disrespected because they were basically flirting with Joey coming back, even though that didn't work out for them after John walked, anyway.
I can't believe that the year I graduated from high school was the same year you guys got back together but man that album was so good got me way more in to you guys I already ready was a fan of you guys but only a couple songs but this album was the one that got me in to you guys forsure.

No mention of the album where Bush re-recorded a bunch of Joey songs, the reunion tour that caused Bush to leave, the Dan Nelson shit…what an in depth documentary
I dig the greater of two evils album
Yeah, Greater was a good album. Sounded heavy as shit. Bush killed it on that one. I’m not taking anything away from him on that one.
It's been pretty in depth up to this point. But yeah. it loses at least third a letter grade.
Is this that Entitled Generation I hear about? Be happy to get these guys baring their souls after so many ups and downs and decades of reinventing a genre of music for us...etc et
@@roybatson7551 you have a strange definition of “baring your soul” if it literally excludes difficult topics. And as one of the people who bought tickets and albums and merch during the Bush era it’s frustrating that this “celebration” glosses over it and his contributions. It’s also funny how “Joey was the right guy” only after he was the last option.
In the End...I get chills every time I listen to it. Lyrically and sonically...amazing amazing amazing!!!
No mention of the 2005 reunion with both Joey and Dan Spitz? John Bush is a total class act.
Greatest band docu-series ever. Loving it. You and Testament at the Wilma in Missoula, MT was beyond great, please come back.
Joey B is the highlight of the band. Always is and will always be the charismatic energy of this amazing band.
👑
X2
All the truth Joey B is Anthrax THE KING🎸🎸
Kind of skipped the years between We’ve Come For You All and The Big 4 shows… would have been cool to get the whole story on those years.
no need to give attention to the phil anselmo wannabe tbh
Ya
@@wewlad2917 Yeeeahh , discount Phil was how I referred to him back in the day . Not having the power vocals , but trying to hard to LOOK , ACT , MANNERISMS of Phil was too obvious and cringe .
Watching these videos reminded me how much I love this band. I've been listening to them for so long I feel like I know them. I've seen them in concert more than 60 times and they live or hang out in Yonkers my home town. I just feel like they are the guys you see in the bar. Regular guys. God Bless you guys. Your music is intertwined with my life and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I was looking forward to this episode the whole time, to hear the interesting story of this album. And they sugarcoated/ignored the entire thing. Unreal.
Agree…. Totally disappointed.
Worship Music is one of the Metal of it’s time. I still listen to it often
I truly can say i have been with you guys and seen you countless times since the very first album.. I still hear songs or see pictures and I'll flashback to a memory in my life , good or bad its still a great thing if that makes sense. Being almost 59 and not getting around to well those memories keep me from not forgetting who I am.. love your music , love you guys ,I'm sure you'll have more memories for me to add . Peace
This album has done so much for so many so many great songs. The Constant has always stayed in my heart the song is just so strong. God bless Joey❤️👑
Thats when a great new Era of ANTHRAX startet... I am there since the start, but you are better now than ever before
In the end! I hear a super deep voice during the chorus! I think it is just me! I get massive chills from that song!!
All I can tell you is that from the very 1st time I ever heard this band there was just some aura that I completely was locked in and I'm talking about all the way back to fistful of metal I don't know what it is the kosmos a higher power but every single time I put on any of these albums I'm amediately transported and when worship music came out I literally from the 1st note putting it on I had Goosebumps that's not hyperbole it literally was such an epic comeback sound production Joey it was and will always be the true anthrax and I'm so glad you guys are still kicking ass putting out music and crushing every single time I've seen you since the very 1st time in New York and then in my Hometown of Baltimore at the Seagull inn. I've never missed a show in my area And I own every album legally
Anthrax helped save Metallica back in the day. And Metallica helped save Anthrax many years later.
That’s how a metal community works.
I love how John Bush gave the stamp of approval for Joey's return! He's the only vocalist for Anthrax!
My Entrance in the world of Anthrax! Still one of my favorite records of all time!!!
This record means so much to me. I was at the Indio Big 4 show. I was at the Yankee Stadium big 4 Show. I saw them 6 times and met them THREE times during this tour cycle. They made me feel like i was a part of this video and this record. So many awesome memories from these shows and from this record. I cant believe it was 10 years ago.
I met Joey in an airport back in 2013, and he couldn't have been any nicer. I'm so happy to see him back in the band!
I was in the pit for their first show back - Wisconsin Rock Fest last week. The guys were smokin'. Great time had by all.
I was hoping Bello would expound on when Dan Nelson took a shit on his back. I can't believe they left that out!
Best goddam band in the WORLD! The day Joey came back was one of the happiest days of my life. I absolutely loved the John Bush era but he's 100% right about Joey just belongs with this band. Love you guys, from Northern Ireland (please please please come here some day so I can finally get to see y'all live) 🤘😀🤘
Love this album & especially In The End! 😎👍
In the End is a masterpiece. I really love that song!
When Joey came back is when Anthrax came back. The proof is in Worship Music and For All Kings. These albums tower above anything that they put out in the 90s and 2000s. They NEVER should have fired Joey!
i agree
💯
Honestly I don't think they would have survived the 90's if they didn't like many other bands.
@@swirvinbirds1971 somehow the rest of the big four did
@@Metal-Gamer999 not without a total change in sound... except for Slayer. Extreme metal was one of the few sounds that survived.
Joey's vocal style was kinda going out with hair metal.
This is the album that got me back playing music again.
Worship Music is one of their top 3 albums EVER in my opinion. Among, Persistence and Worship Music are their greatest works
Joey cracks me up 😂 On everything: Yeah, it was cool, I just did my thing, it turned out good.
He actually depresses me....hehe
It's like he's never excited about anything!
@@jml8238 he's just always so chill. might have to take his pulse, if he's quiet, for a bit. i had the chance to meet him, when i was a teenager, on the Among tour, in Battle Creek Michigan. He was so incredibly nice, and walked and talked with us for about ten minutes. total class
Such a laid back don't givev a fuck character
@@jml8238 Taking it all in stride. 🤙
One of the Greatest Thrash Metal bands of all time...Love these guys 4ever.
Totally!!
I loveee this album.
And again. And AGAIN! 🤘😎
After persistence of time this is my favorite Anthrax album.
This is far more enjoyable than any Metallica interviews, etc.
Never have I enjoyed a documentary as much as this.
1st time is seen you lads was supporting 'tallica Edinburgh playhouse damage inc tour 83 and you played I am the law for the 1st time, wow!
Following year you sold the place out and it was one of the best gigs I've been to place was loud and Scott stopped the gig to take pics and video
Great memories and great doc guys, keep thrashing!
I can understand why they didn't do it, but ignoring the whole Dan Nelson saga puts a dent into the credibility of this series.
I don't give a damn about Nelson. But I Do give a damn about John Bush, and them at least showing him enough respect to talk about him leaving the band. The dude was their singer for like 12 fucking years.
Thanks for these episodes guy's,( hope it's not over!! ) you mean alot to us🤘⚡💋
Cheers Anthrax, Melbourne, Australia!! 🤘🤘
So much info that I needed to know missed in this episode.
These just make me happy. I've loved this band since Fist full. You guys are the American Iron Maiden! 🤘🤘🤘
You guys should release this completely in all in one dvd and bluray I would definitely buy this documentary. It up the with the story of anvil
I saw that tour in Houston; it was an amazing night!
I love these guys so much.
Very cool! I look forwarding kicking back tonight and enjoying this much anticipated episode!! \m/
This was a come back for Anthrax
Is it me, or did they completely skip over The Greater of Two Evils? I really love John's voice and getting to hear these classic songs rerecorded with him signing was awesome.
They completely skipped that and John leaving, and why (because he didn't want to do the Joey reunion tour of 05). He clearly stated back then that he felt it was a step backwards and a novelty act, and he didn't want to do it. I also think he felt disrespected because they were basically flirting with Joey coming back, even though that didn't work out for them after John walked, anyway.
Best, most consistent band of the big 4. Period
Fan since 85…last two albums were great..hopefully we’ll get another heavy POT type album…arguably their best.
I can't believe that the year I graduated from high school was the same year you guys got back together but man that album was so good got me way more in to you guys I already ready was a fan of you guys but only a couple songs but this album was the one that got me in to you guys forsure.
You guys have kept me alive, thank you.
Worship Music is an awesome album. Every song is excellent.
Damn str8.
I was delighted to hear Joey was coming back in 2010 and Worship Music is a killer record
I thought I missed an episode about 2004-2010 events... A lot of pages torn out here.
