    Thanks for the review. I have a Kings 250w solar blanket and a Jaycar 400w solar blanket.
    At best, in full sunlight, the Kings 250w puts out 2 Amps. I have asked to return it as a faulty panel, but they have given me plenty of hoops to jump through first.
    The Jaycar 400w panel has given me as much as 17 Amps in full sun. Still not as good as I was hoping for but a heck of a lot better than the Kings.
    Your review has now made me consider a Kickass 300w to replace the Kings with. (I use a lot of power, so I need to make sure I can recharge during the day. )
    Thanks for the review.

    Thanks mate. Just bought a 150 and 300 watt after seeing a guy use them last Christmas. Great review.

    I have the same Kings 250W about 3 years old and it is still putting about 11 amps in full sun. HOWEVER, as you stated it is bloody heavy, a shite bag and I was finding it impossible to lift up onto my roof racks. It is now fitted permanently on the carport roof and keeping the batteries in my van topped up. I was tossing up between the Kickass 300W and Redarc 200W, that's the largest they make, and decided on the Kickass as the 300W is marginally cheaper than the 200W. With the code you gave, that's dropped the price by a carton and a half to $675. Thanks.

      Yeah when I sold my kings panel the guy was going to do the same thing & make them a fixed panel. Glad to hear I saved you some extra 🍻 money lol

    I see at the end of the clip the kick ass panel has partial shade how does it go in that situation mate is it like some that completely shut down or does it continue to put out power obviously reduced

    • @Campingdownunder

      It did still continue to put out power just reduced the output

      It would still vary due to the stage of charge of the battery. But yes I could have tested the solar regulators as well. But unfortunately I sold the adventure kings panel just after this video

    Great Video. Will the 300w Kicka$$ panel work on my Bluetti 2400wh Solar generator?

    • @Campingdownunder
      @Campingdownunder  4 роки тому +1

      You can either charge through the built in solar regulator or the second built in Anderson plug to charge directly to the battery if you are also charging from another source. You just need some way of monitoring the charge of the battery

      The panels on my canopy doors are 100w each but the fold out portable kickass panel is 300w. More than anyone will ever need while camping. They top up the batteries very quickly & great quality. I'd definitely recommend them 👍 you can buy them from Australiandirect.Com.au

    Thanks for the review, how does the Kick Arse panel work in partial shade?

    • @Campingdownunder
      @Campingdownunder  4 роки тому +3

      Most panels struggle in shade so the output is downgraded but it's in full shade now and still putting around 2amps into the battery. Even if I just had one of the 4 panels in the sun the output would increase a lot 👍

    I have this - I found the meter ( kickass digital meter) - inaccurate at the best of time. I changed out and got a victron MPPT - and it allows so much more current to flow through. My advice is to get these panels, but then purchase a Victron MPPT....

    • @Campingdownunder
      @Campingdownunder  3 роки тому

      I don't use the solar regulator that comes with the panel. I bypass it & use my redarc bcdc charger which has a solar regulator built-in. I also use a victron battery monitor to monitor all the energy going in or out of the batteries

    We have the 150watt in the Kickass, and have been very impressed. It charges an 80ah battery pack (Thumper brand) which in turn runs a Waeco CF40 fridge & lights). Love 'me. Good review.

    I’m new to solar. Can you please do a video showing how you make and the advantages/disadvantages of the direct connections you stated in this video?

    • @Campingdownunder
      @Campingdownunder  4 роки тому +1

      Hey mate it's really quite simple. If you are connecting the solar panel directly to your battery then you run through the built in regulator in the solar panel which regulates the voltage it sends to your battery. But if you had a setup like mine where I have a battery charger in my car that takes current from both the solar panel aswell as the alternator while the cars running to top up the battery. Then it already has a regulator built in & you can't run 2 regulator's as they don't communicate well with each other. What's your plans with your setup? Is it something you are just going to use occasionally or you'd like to start getting out more often?

    Brought 75lt Kickass fridge/freezer
    Used trice, not holding temp
    Contacted (customer support/fridge warranty) Australian Direct
    Had to cut trip short by 4 days, due to issue with fridge/freezer
    Spoke to person dealing with warranty after 4 days of attempted contact, 5 calls and 4 emails later
    Customer service, disgraceful, far from professional after sale service, shouldn't need to contact as many times to get a response.
    Have previously purchased many Kickass products, would not purchase another fridge from this company, due to lack of customer service.
