26:58 You don't need a screwdriver to open the self-locking tuners. You just losen the string tension and it will release once you losen far enough. You can use your finger to apply a little pressure to the side of the string next to the tuner and it will release even faster. You only need a screwdriver if a string breaks. Also, the Prestige model demoed here uses different pickups (SD Fortuna) than most other AZs (SD Hyperion). The Fortunas are more vintagey.
The AZ Standard indeed is a game changer. If you're into modding like me, it's a great platform to do so. Will get one soon and would change the bridge and tuners and that's it! Similar to what I did with my AZES40 Pastel Pink. Great job ibanez!
@ I think so, given that the specs of the AZ Standard is much more beefed up compared to AZES models. Of course you get what you pay for but for another extra it will and still is a great modding platform.
Transparent blue hss has been ordered 😁 Always wanted the AZ since it came out but Prestiges or Premium were always out of my budget, but now with Az Standard you have a great guitar on a budget that can only get better with mods ( I will definetly put a VegaTrem and later change the tuners to gotoh)
The one in black flame maple can potentially give those Charvel DK24 a run for their money. A toe to toe between those two could be very interesting, and throw in a HB Fusion as a wild card too. 😮 This is why I so want to see a HB Fusion III with EMGs, not just that black one that's hard tail, but in the other ones with the trem. But hey.
Hahaha! I had this pause and I looked at the guitar that Rich is holding, and I thought it was one of those push button kill switches...but then started the video, and realized it was a red light shining on it...
I just wish that HSS was an option on the 24 fret AZs and instead of the six screw cheap tremolo, a half decent recessed two point trem would've been nice or just a hard tail
a trem costs maybe couple hundred bucks, you are still WAY under the cost of a premium if you buy a az standard and replace the trem. i do wish there was some hardtail options cause i never used trems, but hey, just block it off and shove the wiggle stick in a box like i do
@@KenithCopeland Dude not even, a proper Gotoh trem usually costs right around $100. It's just the options for a six screw trem replacement aren't nearly as good as the options available for two point trems. The other issue is that the trem is not recessed which makes it not nearly as useful as it could be
@@Unchainedmaple888 Exactly. The only really great option for 6 screw trems it vegatrem, which costs like $3-400. They should've just used a cheap 2 point trem instead of 6 point so that it can be easily swapped out
This came out at the perfect time, im looking for a relatively inexpensive hss guitar with a roasted maple neck and stainless steel frets. I hear people complaining about the trem but I don't see it as a deal breaker, I'll probably upgrade it to a vegatrem
I think Premium is still the best value for money if you can stretch for it but these standard series are going to make excellent mod platforms/backup guitars!
6 Screw tremelo units on a modern super Strat?!?! For me a decent 2-point tremelo with staggered locking tuners and no string tree would have knocked these out of the ball park without increasing production costs.
I can hear a sound difference between cheap - standard - pro guitars. But the difference between standard and pro is not that big and maybe something that can be changed with different PUs.
For a thinner neck i would go with an Ibanez SA, sadly they only offer the SA in GIO and Standard tiers, although i have a Standard SA and its a great guitar.
@ idk, spec wise the ST modern plus is leagues above az standards, with luminlays, locking tuners, ss frets and a babicz trem you can’t really beat it for under 450 euro🤷♂️
Ibanez, why did you put a 6 screw vintage tremolo on these?! At least put the 2 pivot version of the T106 (T102) on these. It's like they forgot what their consumer base is, an HH modern super strat with a 6 screw vintage tremolo?! What were they smoking?
The trems are indeed cheap and rubbish. I have one and that's my grype. Not a bad guitar otherwise ... but there are other guitars cheaper with better specs
I changed the trem and its a vast improvement. However, the trem cavity is routed only for the cheap trem and requires some modification for a full block.
Ibanez makes very good and innovativ guitars but unfortunately it's not speaking to me. Don't dig the style and finish since +10 years. Last guitar I bought and loved was an Ibanez rga 121 prestige in 2007 and the last series I was interested in was the uppercut series.
Thanks for having me Henning! Even though I also now have the clap. It was worth it!
😂👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I don’t even wanna know 😫
I think the AZ standard is a real game changer. A bigger brand releasing a guitar with these kind of specs for cheap is definitely a step forward. 😄👍
Fill my 🕳️ 😂😂😂 great video with two great guys, thank you for your great and funny work 😊
Love the stainless steel frets on the cheap new AZ standard❤
But RG line should also feature them. Also love white/yellowish maple fretboard…
Finally i can afford a AZ!!! I want that HSS 🤘, great video Henning!!!

I have an AZES40 which I've done the same. Do you think it would make that much of a difference from an AZ Standard?
@ I think so, given that the specs of the AZ Standard is much more beefed up compared to AZES models. Of course you get what you pay for but for another extra it will and still is a great modding platform.

You keep asking me to watch Rich's video... But what if I watched his first?
My thoughts exactly!
then you probably watched a good video
Then you have to go and watch it again 😭. It's a loop! It never ends... 👀
Henning Clap tone
is it possible to upgrade the tremolo unit with a vega trem ?
I really wish there was a fixed bridge AZ model so I wouldn't have to take 2 guitars to play drop D
Henning, your hoodies are all missing the tie strings! I can send you some replacements 🤠
I wish they bring back the "roadster " with new test

What gear did you use to plug the guitars?
27:35 YOU DO NOT NEED A SCREW DRIVER FFS. You just loosen the string and they release.
Not in my experience
Six screw tremolo. Why....
cheaper
Is the scale length on these the full 25.5 inches?
Yup
Where are the rockin' red guitars?
Aus was für Material ist der Sattel, Ist das Kunstoff, oder Graph Tech?
I just wish Ibanez would offer a slightly thinner neck on the AZ series. 22.5mm at the 12th feet is just too thick for a modern feel imo.

We drank all the T,s
Ok but what’s the point of getting this in Europe if you can get an HB Fusion III or ST-Modern Plus which is a lot more guitar for the money?
I am not sure it is that much more guitar for the money... if anything they are equal and I am not even sure about that... these are pretty damn good,
@ idk, spec wise the ST modern plus is leagues above az standards, with luminlays, locking tuners, ss frets and a babicz trem you can’t really beat it for under 450 euro🤷♂️
If they offered any of these two as a hardtail, I would get to modify.
nice guitars. Just shame, that the sound coming out of that demo amp is not very good...
Love Ibanez guitars, but these are pretty underwhelming. The blue bass is cool I guess.
