Those trails in the Humber are awesome. It'll be nice once they connect through past the golf course all the way down to the waterfront. You can ride them for quite a piece.
Hi Erik that was another fun ride from work! Glad you made it again you smashed it! you saved gas, enjoy the new route and with all the obstacles you went thru was something else you hurdled as cyclist specially with that lady driver who was not paying attention at all and which bring me to my experience almost get crushed crossing an intersection at erin mills. same scenario driver wasnt looking at his right when he was turning and stupid me i was trying to cross quickly without making an eye contact with the driver and bang! Had his car not equipped with sensor thing where it stopped quickly inches away from my bike and If that was caught on camera would be fun to watch. so yeah lesson learned as you said gonna be defensive and anticipate the moves on your surrounding. thanks for sharing and hope to ride alongside with u one day . always ride safe and DGDC rocks!
Getting through the intersections on a MUP is the WORST and I just expect everyone to hit me. It's the only way I can get though them in one piece. Always cycle with your head on a swivel and stay safe out there!
I used to commute from Don Mills down to Rosedale station for years before COVID has me working from home. I really enjoyed the 55km round trip (home leg, I'd go down to the Portlands and then do a lap on the spit before heading north.)... I kinda miss the ride to start and end the day, but working from home rocks.
I’m hybrid now and wfh does ROCK! The only reason I randomly commute to work once in a while is to just sneak in a solid 100k day on the bike. No other reason!
I got hit last October. Had to have knee surgery. Landed head first onto the concrete busting my head open. It’s taken me from October 3rd last year to just this August 2nd to get back on my bike and to get the nerve to ride on the roads again. PLEASE be careful out there. ✌️
This exactly matches my experience: most people driving normally, a handful of angry insecure motorists passing way too close and way too fast, a handful of drivers (and pedestrians) who aren't even looking. Special mention to the drivers who tailgate you so closely that they can smell your farts. I wish that in order to get a driving license they required people to spend a few hours on a bicycle in traffic.
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed the cyclocross section. I'm looking at getting a camera for safety. What are you using? I noticed the Varia rear radar, I just got mine and it has made such a huge difference.
GoPro Hero 9. Ya I pretty much always ride with a camera as a “dashcam”. Doesn’t hurt I can get any action that happens as well! Varia radar is a must for any cyclist that has to deal with cars!!!!
People always say they don’t see you. They see you, they just don’t care. Drivers will run you off the road while making eye contact with a confused face like why are you in my way
You made me watch this whole thing for absolutely no reason. I was thinking there was an accident or something. This was like a real drama queen moment. 😂🤣😆🤌
What a long ride. Fun thing is I know all the paths you took. Maybe i would try it once i am more confident and experienced with my e-bike. For now, short rides only 😁
No doubt this'll get some heat here. But the city was never built to consider bikes and it's mostly a waste of money to even put in the infrastructure. 9/10 when you go downtown and see a bike lane a courier truck, delivery truck or uber driver is parked in it. I'm honestly surprised more people are hit and killed by cars than there are.
Don’t blame the car drivers. They’re checking their Facebook and eating their sandwiches - they can’t be looking out for cyclists when they’ve got so many other things going on.
That was a Mississauga driver that almost killed you. I bike commute 6 months of the year in downtown Toronto……it’s much worse, and there is a lot of hostility and danger involved. Stay safe my good man.
At least Toronto had a bunch of trails, and bike lanes (well, painted bike gutters) on some roads. Most suburban areas in North America you won't even find that.
Old Dragon...u are crossing the red line...putting yourself at risk,u have no chances against cars !!! i know that by hard trial,3 times have been hit by a car in Italy while riding, last time 1y ago on a roundabout a Suv hit me on the right shoulder,4 days in the hospital in Mestre near Venice, collarbone, scatula and several ribs damaged,2 months could not sleep during the night only some hours in day time, took me 2 months to be back on the bike...when this happens 2u,after is only Watopia... !!! Old Dragon.
Insane drivers is why I don't bike on roads, only multi-use trails. I don't trust people in a car, why would I trust them on a 20 something pound bike that they can bully? I'd rather be safe.
@@DontGetDroppedCyclingyou can but it’s illegal when it’s a sidewalk; it’s only legal when it’s a multi-use trail (in the vide those were sidewalks and illegal to ride on). It’s really only safer on the sidewalk if you ride under 13 km/h and slow even further before crossing the road. if you ride fast on the sidewalk in these areas you create more risk than the road.
Only if youre disabled. We have a messed up system, each city makes its own bylaw about biking on sidewalks, theyre all different. The only consistant law province wide is for disabled people using a bike as a mobil aid allowed on sidewalks. Not that these bylaws are ever enforced, my own local police say look we dont care as long as youre not running over people, be respectful of people walking we wont bother you……..it beats taking you to a hospital in a bag.

Glad I don’t have to commute though the downtown core or anything like that!
The UA-cam channel "Not Just Bikes" - dude is from London, ON. He always speaks on how awful Ontario is road-wise if you don't have a car.
