- Covering the baseball career of Dansby Swanson, Shortstop for the Chicago Cubs. Dansby has had ups and downs throughout his career so far with injuries, but after a league leading 162 games played in 2022, the newest Chicago Cub is looking to lead his young team to an NL Central title.
Dansby grew up in Atlanta, played basketball and baseball in high school, then went on to play college baseball at the University of Vanderbilt. He would be selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks with the 1st overall pick in the 2015 draft, and later be traded to the Atlanta Braves in a deal that sent Shelby Miller to the Diamondbacks.
He would spend the next few years in the Braves organization, until in December of 2022 he decided to sign with the Chicago Cubs as a free agent. He signed a 7 year, $177M contract with the Cubs, cementing him into the heart of the Cubs young lineup for the foreseeable future.

I wish he stayed in Atlanta 🤧 loved watching him at Vandy. One of my personal favorites of all time.

He signed because they were the only team that would give him the deal…..don’t buy that Grandfather reason (that was PR). He admitted that Cubs wasn’t in his top FA spots.
