So what do you guys think? Is the new Twin Sister right up my alley? ALSO, sorry about the audio issues - we were using a Rodecaster Pro and the onboard noise gate was on the whole time.
You seemed to really bond well with it. Might look at the BE50 dlx too - awesome clean channel and A++ tones throughout the gain spectrum.
Definitely...... I have the original shirley n it absolutely kills classic rock and 90s grunge...... It also does great jtm 45 cleans and hendrix cleans....... Eats pedals for lunch..... Sounds great at any volume and feels better than any amp I've ever played because of the tube rectifier...... Also it cleans up with the volume knob better than the small box u were looking at...... I a/bed them for hours and chose the dirty shirley and that was before it had the bright switch and two channels........ Now? It would be a no brainer..... Twin sister for sure
I even commented that u should get a shirley when u were asking pt100 vs smallbox....... To be honest I will be so disappointed and bummed out if u don't get it because I personally know what you'll be missing out on...... I played suhrs Plexis every Friedman model, bogners, you name it, when I was on my "one amp to rule them all" quest..... And after I played the dirty shirley nothing else measured up for me...... It feels the best by far and has such a rich, thick, organic overdrive to it
Hit the Twin Sister with a Friedman Buxom Boost to take it to a whole new high gain territory (with a variety of new tones due to options on the pedal). Dave advised me to try this, I did (on a Dirty Shirly), and boy did it ever work like he said. Awesome!
I would go with Synergy Amps.
When a Guitar Center employee talks to you, you think, "Yeah. I know more than you." When Dave Friedman talks to you, you listen !!
apart from the amp,you need to set up your vocal compressor better...
Sounds more like there is a noise gate on the mics. When they speak softly it cuts them off. When they are louder, the gate is open.
Def a noise gate set to harsh

You can tell how Dave talks and answers questions he has a lot of experience talking with big clients.

It's just like a phone mic. Sounds shitty. Not selling me on amps that cost 2500 and up.
I too was puzzled on which Friedman amp too get....so I bought a Soldano.

Don't back away from the Ford Taurus claim. My 2006 is still running great and has been amazingly problem-free. Really smooth ride too. Almost $300K miles!

Hi Ron. Sounds good. Among the many amps I own, I still have an original Mesa Lonestar. Which, to me, can do exactly what your looking at here. 2 Channels. Can be the same or different. Gain structure, Power selection, tube or silicon rectifying. I dunno if you’ve used one already but maybe worth a visit. Happy new year. Mark.

Bro I watched your small box video and commented there I recommend the Dirty Shirley for what you need, I have a Dirty Shirley and I had mojotone make a matching cab loaded with for celestion greenbacks and it is spot-on for everything you said you wanted, I'm super glad to see somebody else sharing in the Delight that the Shirley brings, I demoed the small box versus the Shirley before buying and the Shirley just nails the Led Zeppelin ZZ top ACDC thing, or the Stone Temple Pilots Soundgarden thing or the Jimi Hendrix thing or the pedal platform thing LOL or... Whatever else you may need, I am a little jealous that you have two channels though LOL congrats
Great video RJ! I plugged into this new Twin Sister at NAMM as well as the Jake E. Lee. Just killer amps. The Twin Sister is on my radar for sure. They said it comes out sometime this year....hopefully sooner or later.
Grey (bottom right) is my choice "Shirley" and I love the beginning reference to Detroit!!👍👍👍👍

I use a Peavey Classic and an ever changing assortment of Fender amps, and I boost them ALL with a wonderful Friedman BE-OD pedal, the BEST overdrive pedal I've ever owned. I couldn't recommend it more highly.

I own two Friedman amps. Love them. Best tone. Cleans are superb. Even turned my jazz guitar teacher on to them ✌😎

Love my dirty shirley! Incredibly universal and a super clean sound. The best friedmann for my guitar playing. I think the best choice!
RJ you need that metro D too. I personally love the smallbox limited. Spongey feel with the SB limited too. You don’t have to use the distortion channel all the time. But it’s there if you need it. You can use the clean channel or plexi channel which is clean to me and add a pedal if you wand. Dirt, fuzz or overdrive. Lots of options.

That twin sister sounds great. I liked that you were trying out the cleans of that amp because everyone always just seems to go for the gain on Friedman’s (for obvious reasons). I’d love to hear some of your fuzz pedals through it when you get it into your studio.

funny... when you mentioned you were interested in a Friedman, my first thought was that you should check out the Dirty Shirley. that Twin Sister sounds amazing.
The Twin Sister sounds amazing. I love the Dirty Shirley, my favorite amp he makes and maybe my favorite ever. I love the simplicity of a single channel but being able to set a 2nd channel a little different from the first is so awesome. Have a core sound and then just a little more and then being able to run pedals for color, just would suit me perfect. Hope you enjoy, I’m more than a little jealous. Lol. Congrats.

I know right? I bought the regular shirley about 7 months ago and it is by far the best amp I've ever played or heard...... It's is zz top Zeppelin and acdc in a box with some sound garden and tool in there as well as some jimi

for me personally i would pick the jake but the twin sister is so versatile. the ds is no slouch though and can def do more imo

I think some people may like to have that low end and brightness options without having twins. Like a DS v2.

Watching thiis viddy I noticed the control panel on the heads are non symetrical so it would great to see a "mirror image" (the red one) next to the regular design so it looks like a real "wide-boy" , each one sitting on it's own 4x12" (red)! Put simply, a Friedman head with the logo on the other side and the on/off under the logo...just a thought. Great sound BTW and cool looking too( Tough but stylish).
Well I sure don't play versatile and talented stuff, but if I could afford to disappoint one of Dave's amplifiers, the matching channel model would actually be my choice. Cool.

Yeah, just goes to show that people can be the best at what they do, yet still unable to get parts of their life together. I say that because I think it's safe to assume he isn't ok with being that overweight.
He wasn't always that heavy. Concerning, having struggled similarly myself. Trust me, at that weight and size you are not happy. It sucks.

I have the old one which is essentially the same and I can arrest to how amazing it is...... But having two channels? That's awesome...... That's would make channel switching actually work instead of having a shared eq clean n dirty setup where one always sounds worse..... This is the ideal marshall amp imo...... That said I love my original shirley so I can't justify getting it but anyone one else who loves classic rock and 90s grunge rock needs a dirty shirley
Chance Terrill I Play a victory amp which is absolutely amazing, however, I have a dirty Shirley petal that if you closed your eyes would think you were playing out of the real dirty Shirley it’s outstanding. I had a Friedman run 50 for several years but once I played the victory and I was absolutely blown away. Friedman makes outstanding amplifiers

@@chanceterrill5346 try the buxom boost to push your dirty shirley. Simple and intuitive EQ controls and a "tight" knob to keep your boosted tone as sweet as your clean.
As an all in one overall perfect amp, i think the be100 deluxe is the one. But as per the player's requirements and vibes....you can choose the dirty shirley ofcourse. But still, the get be100....i thinks ita got half power mode.. or you can request it....considering....you pals with dave .

What small high gain amp does Friedman make to compete with Mesa Boogie and ENGL? I play metal and heavier stuff and Friedman does not really cover high modern gain stuff from what I have seen thus far. I guess Dave would need to build me a custom one!

@Michael Nielsen no one ever does a DSM V. PT20 comparison. I throw the gauntlet down before you (yeah, I know, magic up a PT20!). Great videos on the Vai and Extreme tones by the way. How about DLR era? White Lion? Etc?
How these Marshall type amp really shine is when they’re laying in a mix. Sometimes the best tones are when they are lined up next to others tones. This amp sounds ridiculous. I need one . I just don’t know if the new toneking royalist is more of thing that I’d want.

I played them all and decided on the dirty shirley 40 watt head....... If u want Zeppelin acdc and 90s grunge like stp sound garden and Alice in chains, the dirty shirley is your amp...... If u want strictly a pedal platform go buxom Betty...... If u want van halen and 80s go smallbox ..... If u want pedal platform plus classic rock machine go twin sister, if u want pedal platform and modern metal go be50 deluxe...... If u need to blow out the windows go be100...... But if you want a Zeppelin/acdc machine go shirley or twin sister for sure
