The way I got into SOAD was pretty great. A buddy of mine had bought the first album, and didn't particularly care for it. He comes to me and says "Hey you like weird shit, you can have this!" and gave me the CD. I listened to it after he left, called him up and was like "YOU DON'T LIKE THIS?!" Wasn’t Serj done by the mesmerize/ hypnotize. I could be wrong but I remember Daron taking over writing duties which was one of the main reasons why they took a hiatus. Well according to them.
I agree with Mezmerize being the best SOAD album. I absolutely love most of the songs on it like Radio/Video, Soldier Side - Intro, Old School Hollywood, and Cigaro too. Absolutely legendary. Hearing those songs was what made me want to get into guitar and start playing it.
System of a Down is top down the greatest band I have ever listened to. It has every reason for it to suck yet manages to balance all the chaos so perfectly combined with genuinelly well written lyrics make hands dowm the greatest band I have ever heard.
I’m an outlier with my experience with SOAD. I bought and loved their debut when it came out but never listened to Toxicity until years after it came out. I had a lot going on in my life that meant I stopped paying attention to new music for ages. I know most people came onboard with their 2000’s stuff and heard the debut later.
this hippie girl i used to work with absolutely loooooved System of Down (and LSD...as did I, when i was younger) but she had the audacity to say this band was amazing while calling Primus "rough" and "too wacky" for her. i could never figured that out. i mean both bands sound radically different but the "too wacky" part was the part i didn't and still do not understand. i would say both of those bands are equally wacky, if System isn't even MORE wacky. i dunno. Primus sucks. i love them. i've never been that big of a System Of A Down fan but i do respect their musicianship. 👊 great video as always Bradley 😎
Hey bradley keep up with what you are doing it's really inspiring. My older brother introduced me to SOAD when I was 9, and I fell in love with the band instantly.
