I’m glad you mentioned the swing plane issue. That stuck out immediately and I didn’t think you were going to get to it in such a short video.

one of the issues I have with this particular format is that I try to not cover the same problem over and over...we have looked at the swing plane more then any other issue bowlers have....good that you saw that....

This is FANTASTIC coaching!!! .. I have finally gotten to where I focus intently, not just to the arrows where I want my ball to roll (my target), but I am now getting very very specific, right to the very board I want my ball to roll over, and not JUST the board either, exactly where on that board I want my ball to roll (left side, middle, right side). This is something I also learned in golf, be VERY detailed and specific about your target. It seems that the more precisely specific you are the more consistently you are able to execute within a tolerable margin of error. You may not hit the board EXACTLY on the wood grain you were aiming for, but you more frequently will be within 1 to 2 inches of that target spot, and that could be enough acceptable tolerance to make a lot more strikes! ... awesome video Coach !! ... Excellent subject and a VERY important one I have found !! .. thank you for reminding us all and giving tips how to improve. It is easy to distract yourself off of that target, your Coaching will help us perfect our ability to stay focused on the right things!!
BTW Coach, I bowled with a friend the other night (he's pretty good, better than I) and I had him on the ropes for 2 games. I pull off a couple more low 200 games, IN A ROW! .. he only beat me by 3 pins! .. getting better, and I owe a whole lot of that to YOU!!! .. Thank you Coach!! .. You are AWESOME!

I had this same problem too. For me, the way I find my target is I look at the dots or boards right by the Foul Line, the problem is sometimes I couldn't memorize it where to look. At my local center (SM Bowling - SM Lanang Premier) the Synthetic Lanes I'm Bowling on were AMF SPL Panels, they're tricky for me because of the brown-ish color and there are boards that were either darker or lighter than other, so its confusing for me, not to mention the dots on the Approach aren't even aligned with the arrows on the Lane. Months ago in June, I got to bowl at 2 centers (Playdium & E-Lanes) with Brunswick Anvile Synthetic Lanes, the dots were perfectly aligned and I can find my target much easier since all boards are equally white and clear to see, my eyes were comfortable with those Lanes.

This is definitely a widespread problem. I'm convinced if I could stop being lazy with my eyes and head, I could raise my average 20 pins. But discipline in this area is hard for me, and I'm sure I'm not alone.

I use the arrows as my mark's. I do not lift my head or move my eyes until I see my ball roll over the mark I am throwing at. I can't always stay down though because my hip on my slide leg was in bad shape and I sometimes have to step off or fall down. 😂 But I just got it replaced 2 weeks ago. So maybe I will do better and be more consistent when I heal up. But anything you can do to be consistent will improve your game. This dude drops his shoulder to much too. He needs to square up more and keep shoulder up more.

You're not, I'm right there with you. I just got into bowling a few weeks ago. Some days my average is ~95 and others it's ~175... think I need to just keep practicing. I've been a golfer for many years and to me the two are similar in that you must have at least 3 key fundamentals in play. But when I focus on one I fail at one or more of the others! Gaahh!

@@ubernate860 Just like Golf it is a game of consistency. It takes lots of practice and for most people years to develop their game. The main thing you have going that many of us older bowlers never had is the UA-cam channels like this that help teach proper fundamentals. There are many different styles to deliver the ball but whatever you can do to simplify and make it easier to repeat the same ball every time is going to make you better. I bowled for about 10 years 3 to 7 days a week and I was Okay I had about a180 average. Then I stopped for about 10 or 12 years, except a few times a year. Last year was my first time to get back on league. Thanks to coach art and a few other channels I am carrying over a 200 average on 2 different leagues. This past march I finally got my first 300 the last night of fall league. So I got my ring! 😮😃 Then just weeks later did it again.😲
I had lots of bad habits and I worked hard to lose most of them. So my point is it is a lot easier to learn proper tech now than try to relearn later. But UA-cam and coach Art turned my game around and there is no reason it wont yours. But practice is key. I was bowling 100 to 150 plus games a month until I got to where I wanted to be. I had to stop again as I just got my hip replaced at age 46 but as soon as it heals I am going to hit it hard. Because my left hip pain I could not always stay down on my left leg and have to step off. If it heals up right and it looks like it is going too, then I have a lot of 300's left in me. and of course I still am chasing my first 800. Sorry I can ramble on about this game I love for ever. It sounds like you have the nac for it so you just need to refine the game. Learn all you can on reading the lanes and lane transition after you get your consistent release and ball placement down. I wish you the best my friend

Thanks for the good video. I realized this week that I lock on my target until the last moment then my eyes move up.i an going to try to keep on the target until I hear the pins. I think it is natural for me to look up to see where the ball enters and exits but with some practice hopefully I can do that less. Maybe a compromise and look up just before it hits

    • @ArtOfBowling

it is natural for us all to look up we want to see it...eventually the idea is to see the ball to your target then follow it down the lane

Hello Arthur. I’ve been throwing the roto grip hustle pearl but haven’t been getting it to hook as much as I expected even after taking the shine off. I’ve tried moving my feet but feel like I’m not generating enough rpm. What should I do.
